Does any one else think that skylanders are being shoved to the side a bit now at retailers? Fir the last few months, compared to the usual 35+ Skylanders it has been around 25 skylanders put out on shelves. Why?

A lot of it has been Black Friday sales and the stores getting replenished. And sometimes there are different flows of distribution. Sometimes there are more. Sometimes less. I wouldn't worry about it being a trend of stores shrinking their inventory. It just happens sometimes. My TRU has boxes stacked high on the top shelf. They aren't really low on inventory. I think the problem with them is that they are all wave 1 and their pegs are already filled with wave 1. One of the employees even told me they weren't going to put the SSA adventure packs and triples out because they had plenty of Skylanders out. They were nice enough to open the 2 cases they had (along with the 2 cases of SSA singles and 2 cases of SSA triples they had). I told them they didn't have any of the adventure packs or triples out because of the $10 sales, which were still going on. They even had A case of Legendary Bouncers and Legendary Stealth Elfs on the top shelf. Most of the time, stores get full of stock of older stuff and don't put any new out because of it. When I collected Star Wars years ago, it was the same way. There would be tons of storm troopers (or battle droids after Phantom Menace came out) and they wouldn't put any more out. There was an entire wave of Phantom Menace figures that barely got released. They were te only ones that were actually going for anything. The KB Toys I worked at ended up getting a huges shipment of them from a close out deal after Hasbro decided to purge their inventory. I wouldn't worry, though. They eventually dwindle the inventory, especially as we get closer to Christmas. And after Christmas as kids get it for Christmas and want more. And the stores that have limited inventory, now, because of the sales, will eventually get more. It just sometimes takes time after a big sale.

If anything, I've seen them stay well stocked here. I pay attention to how often these things move off of shelves, and when they fly off shelves here - and they do - they're quickly replineshed.
One thing I've been liking, is how they're keeping stock of all three games at stores like TRU. I think this is just another case of paranoia. Different areas move through product quicker than others. I doubt they'd announce a 4th Skylanders days after the 3rd released, if things were looking bad.

Locally in Charlotte, NC, I can say that the stock at Toys R Us has been incredibly awesome recently ... better than I've seen it at any point in 2013.
However, all the other retailers (Target, Wal-Mart, GameStop, Best Buy, KMart) have had pathetic displays in their stores recently. Looks like (at least to me) Toys R Us is the head-and-shoulders-above-the-rest best retailer for Skylanders right now.

Toys R Us will generally always have lots of stock as it's Skylanders main partner. I've seen less stock in many Targets, most Walmarts I've been to have a whole section dedicated to Skylanders so that's doing good. Local Best Buy shoved Skylanders/Disney Infinity to the back of the Video Games Section due to the new PS4/XB1 aisle/displays.

All that I ever see in my area is Wave 1, except for the occasional Wave 2. Before Wave Three releases, I want to find just one chase variant, just one. I want to have something to show from my hard hunts for one. Ah, but unless someone is willing to part with one for a cheap price, looks like I won't get one.
Back on subject. If the stocks end up dwindling, then we can be somewhat certain that Wave Three could come soon. |

^ Tower of Time is the only W1 stock I see becoming less common. In the past week, I've only seen about 15 of them accross a few stores I've visited. Everyone else from W1 is in plentiful stock, maybe the only other exception being Nitro Magna Charge, but I only checked one Target this week so I can't say.
Would be nice if there were some more things to replace all the LightCore Flashwings sigh (I'm totally using that accidental rhyme whenever I get around to writing a Skylanders song.)

I agree, since we share the same area. In my area, all of the non-TRU locations are stocked about as well as for Giants (read that is not well or mediocre) but TRU has reserved EVEN MORE space and are generally overstocked. Life has been stress free this time around, but I also think it could be because they over-anticipated demand relative to Infinity. I will never see adventure and battle packs becoming limited in supply.

Difference is mega man was not making any money! Skylanders is a "cash cow" They will never stop making this game unless for some reason we all stop buying because of maybe a new craze! Bottom line this will be milked for every single nickle they can squeeze out of it. on a side note all the TRU by me have multiple sections filled with skylanders. Activision Blizzard Inc., the largest U.S. video-game maker, rose the most since late 2008 after fourth-quarter net income beat analysts’ estimates amid gains from the latest “Skylanders” and “Call of Duty” titles. The stock soared 11 percent to $13.41 at the close in New York time for the biggest jump since November 2008, after the company yesterday reported earnings tripled last quarter. The shares have gained 6.9 percent in the past year, as the Russell 1000 Index added 13 percent.............Skylanders” franchise, which has generated $1 billion in revenue from games and toys.

Ok im gonna go off topic but as somone who was actually a contributor to the megaman legends 3 project via the forums as well as art and who worked with the megaman community project, it had nothing to do with megaman not making money. Almost all the projects they cancelled megaman wise were partially developed by fans. Capcom had issues with others dabbling in it and feared that a fanmade project would bomb cuz its not how they would do it. There were several other reasons but money had barely anything to do with it. The mighty no 9 kickstarter base goal being acheived in only 2 days was proof there was money in making it. All those donations were fan support. By the end of the kickstarter when they added the paypal donations they had over 4 million dollars donated. Thats money to be made and jist to get somethig started. Sorry to go off on that tangent. But i also have to agree skylanders is not in any trouble anytime soon, their fanbase is kids and adults alike and its toys and gaming and merchandise thats spawned from the games itself. Its in the clear. Basically this is like how pokemon started in a sense and that thing started way back in the 90s.

Agreed that, for now at least, the shelves are over-stocked with Roller Brawl and Slobber Tooth singles, in particular, at essentially all retailers.
Meanwhile, Twin Blade Chop Chop, Big Bang Trigger Happy, and (non-lightcore) Star Strike appear to be very scarce at this point. (non-Legendary) lightcore Grim Creeper and lightcore Smolderdash are also very scarce right now. This may all change when "wave 3" (and eventually "wave 4") hit shelves in the weeks and months to come, but for right now, that's my report on what's easy-to-find and what's hard-to-find in stores.

Still well-stocked in my area, Toys R' Us even expanded their Skylander selection into the toy section, they've got so much inventory (also with all the Giants figures coming in again).
If anything, Disney Infinity has shrunk, being pushed out of electronics and even out of the main toy area. They're crowded on one of those island displays in the middle of the main aisle.

I was driving a few days ago, and saw another driver driving a "Call of Duty" special edition Jeep Wrangler. I laughed hard enough that I spat out my drink.
If we ever see a "Skylanders" special edition car, truck, jeep, boat (or airship?), then we'll know that Skylanders has gone too far. Until then, we're good.

I have a theory about this. We are all aware that TRU charges more for their Skylanders than the other retailers. Well, is it possible that they pay a premium to BUY their Skylanders so they can have the biggest inventory, the newest figures, the best variety? They still end up with a better profit margin than the other retailers, but as a result of this strategy they also have the most volume of sales. That's what I think is going on, anyway.

But Gamestop seems quite well stocked, and I do most my shopping online anyway.
