It is one of the hardest languages to learn, actually. Ask any non-mother tongued English speaker, which is what the world is mostly composed of. It varies from person and such, of course, and people with different mother tongues traditionally find some languages easier to learn than others.

Well, when you get down to it, it all depends on what your native language is, but due to its complexity, most experts have labeled English as the hardest language to master.

Also, Old English had nouns with genders, but this stopped at around the Late Middle Ages I believe.

It really is one of the hardest languages to learn... That's quite a well known fact, I think. I could be wrong. I may have dreamed that or something.
We have so many rules and such. Accent marks and genders are nothing once you get the hang of it.

no, what makes english hard is stuff like words with multiple meanings, words with the same pronunciation but different meanings, all the crazy grammar rules, and sayings that are not meant to be taken literally

Isn't it true for all languages? Because all you stated is also true in French. A word can mean multiple things, and multiple words can also mean the same thing. There's grammar and expressions in all languages I believe.

also some words have different spellings or meanings depending on the country, it gets even more complex when different regions even have their own words

I highly disagree in the fact that English is harder to learn then French.
My native language is Spanish, and when I moved from Peru to Canada when I was 3, I learned both French and English at the SAME TIME.
I learned English in about a month, and it became pretty fluent by the time I was 4.
French on the other hand, I had trouble speaking it in even kindergarten, when I was 6~ years old.
But that's for me. it could be different for other people.
