Hello All,
As some of you know I am the author of the Skylister for iOS app. You may also know that Activision has also released it's own list, the Skylanders Collection Vault (also for iOS only right now). These are currently just for iOS and while that platform is huge, there's also a lot of Android only users out there as well. I can assume that there's people without smart phones, but have computers, tablets, game consoles, etc that at least have web browser support. When I initially built Skylister it was partly so I could learn some new tools. (XCode, Xamarin, Objective C, blah blah blah). I've been very happy with that, but I've also dreamed about making a checklist for other platforms. Specifically for the web this time. I'm primarily a Microsoft guy, so I'm thinking of the Microsoft tools like MVC, IIS, SQL Server, etc. I'm not limited to those either.
My thought was to see if there'd be any interest in the community, for the community, of working on a web based version of a Skylanders Checklist. This is not a replacement to Dark Spyro, it's not a grand money making adventure, it's not in any possible way meant to compete with Activision, Skylanders, etc, etc. The URL may not even ever leave this site. I think there'd be a login using the Open Auth vendors like Yahoo, Facebook, google, etc so we wouldn't need a separate login. It's web based so the data would always seem synced as it wouldn't be stored on a single local device.
I'm just reaching out to the devs on the site and I knew there are quite a few. Also any UI folks (because I totally suck at that) and really just anyone who has ideas of what they'd like their dream app to be. Building an app from scratch takes quite a bit of time, and even though I've got a head start, it's still a lot of work. Gathering data, images, descriptions, etc takes a lot of time to do and doesn't require any more ability than just knowing how to put copy and paste into Notepad.
So, if anyone has any interest in a) helping out b) has ideas of what they'd like to see and c) NOT a flame war on ruby vs python vs asp.net vs whatever else then please post below.
Other considerations, if possible, would be integrating QR Readers, Portals, etc. I don't know much about how to integrate those technologies.
And to repeat: This is not a replacement to Dark Spyro, it's not a grand money making adventure, it's not in any possible way meant to compete with Activision, Skylanders, etc, etc. And no technology flame wars, that can be determined later on.
Also: If I'm going against the forum rules, then just shut it down, I'm not looking for any grief.
Thanks

I am happy to help.
In general terms, I recommend something which spits out HTML5 as that is basically usable on any platform - be it mobile or more "traditional".

I'd love to help (mainly from a learning perspective) but time is that elusive element I can't seem to get. I'd be a decent resource to discuss networking/communication architecture and back-end requirements if you want (ie SOAP/rest calls, APIs, server, software tools etc).
I concur with chaos that open standards should be the first prerequisite.

Agreed. I was thinking of using something like bootstrap that handles things using the reactive method so the UI can automatically adjust to the platform. I'm also very very interested in being able to use the 'Snap' feature in xbox one so that you could be playing skylanders in the main window and have the collection info on the right side.

The XB1 snap feature is provided by the console for any webpage, etc. However not 100% sure if XB1's browser is fully HTML5 compliant (and don't own one to test)?
