Blue Star question - From Sheep/Troll Mobs [CLOSED]

So. I can't seem to figure this out. When I tap on a troll/sheep mob to defeat them. I get gold, exp and then there are these Blue Stars. Right now I'm level 7 and they give "+5".

What do these do? I don't seem them anywhere as a currency or anything, thanks.

Those are your hero points (or xp for your Skylanders).

That is what I thought, but figured 3-5 exp out of 7,000+ exp needed to level was kind of pointless to even be there. Thanks!
