The bright side of Black Friday [CLOSED]

I had been dreading the release of Wave 3 (if it is to be believed that it's coming out in a couple weeks) because all the stores around here were completely full of dozens and dozens of wave 1 and a little bit of wave 2. So, I was worried that I'd see everybody else getting them but my stores wouldn't get any new shipments... but I went out this afternoon (after all the craziness had subsided) and, to my surprise, the shelves were bare at Target and less than half full at Walmart. Thank you parents! Now, there's actually a chance my stores will get Wave 3 on time!

Anybody have any luck with the Black Friday sales?

Lol. I didn't step foot into any stores. I bought my stuff online. Yeah, the B1G1 70% off was tempting but who knows what they would've had in stock. Ebay was my friend today surprisingly. But it is normal for stores to be wiped out of stock later in the day because of shippers but it doesn't mean they wont get more later. Between now and New Years stock is going to be crazy. I last week I went to three different stores to get a Fire Kraker. Everywhere was sold out. But glad to get one at all. I will have to keep my eyes extra peeled for when jade comes out. Might be gone before I know it.

To be honest Black Friday at Wal-mart was really dead this year compared to most, just a lot of freight that needed to be cleaned up and not enough people to help with it. We ended up with a ton of PS4 and XB1 Swap Force versions still sitting on the shelves when it ended at 4.

All the TRU, Target and Walmart in my town were all cleared out of the Swap Force characters so I'm not feeling worried any more either.

Just Black Friday or Thanksgiving as well? A lot of stores were dead compared to previous years because of so many stores opening on Thanksgiving. With that said, I went to Walmart at a little before 9 PM on Thanksgiving and found an almost front row parking place and got what I went for (even picking up something my mom was wanting to find, but didn't know it was on sale until I found one randomly laid down by itself).

As for the PS4 and XB1 version, I don't doubt it. The majority of people buying the game are buying them for their kids. Very few kids will have the PS4 and XB1, just yet. Mostly hardcore gamers buy it off the bat, and with the high price tag, not too many can afford to buy them for their kids. That's why the Wii was such a hot seller when it first came out (sadly not the Wii U, but probably because it seemed too similar to the Wii for most parents).

I would say that the 5pm Thanksgiving start time will be a trend that will not stop.
Due to the fact that it was not as crowded as last year and most stores were pretty well organized since the crowd spread themselves out for 2 days. At least for a few years until everyone catches on and then Black Friday will be packed but it will be Pre-Black Friday (Thursday).

I wish they would force this to friday afternoon and saturday. thanksgiving for the past 2 yrs has been ruined for my fmaily as half of us are forced to work and can't be home to enjoy the family time together anymore. My sister was threated to be fired from target if she didnt go as was my mother in law and brother for walmart. It's sad how the whole point of the holiday is ruined..

What's next? let's opena t noon on xmas so ppl can ruin that day and just return stuff they got from "santa" only a few hrs earlier!

I miss the blue laws ive heard so much about smilie

That is sad to hear. As long as there is money to spend, the Stores are going to try and one-up the other and if that includes starting earlier than normal, than that's what they will try and do.

They (Walmart/Target) already started the Week before Black Friday sale, this could be why it was not as crowded as last year.

I'm curious as to what the next couple years will look like.

For several years, the "starting time" has kept creeping up, and this was the first year I recall seeing so many good pre-Thanksgiving deals.
Maybe we'll see a trend of lots of varied deals from the weekend before Thanksgiving through Cyber Monday.
