I have 5 spots in my storage and I can expand to 20 for 50 gems. There's people considering even expanding further. But what's the use?
I do hear people telling they put in buildings, to only place them back later on.

So basically, my question is , how do you use the storage and would you level up?

If you reached level 40, you can switch to "optimize gold" configuration.
Put in the storage big buidings as the townhall and use that space for shrines or just leave it empty for troll or totem spawning.
When the level cap is raised again, just put the buildings back in place.

BTW, developers: When will we have a sale on storage space? Never had one!

I use it to fulfill the tasks with Mabu buildings (stage, etc.). You don't need additional houses to get more Mabu. Just put all existing Mabu consuming buildings in the storage until you have enough free Mabus and build the task related building. Afterwards you can decide which building you want to get out of the storage. Of course you could re-build the buildings, but this might take up to 48 hours, so the storage strategy saves you time.
