In the classic games he was shaped like a normal dragonfly, and so his wings faced downward. But in TLoS, flapping his wings would propel him forward or backward, right?

The same way Cynder and Spyro can fly with wings that could in no way support them (and the same way they can walk on broken legs and breath with broken spines). :D

So, magic? It's either that, or nanobots. And the Professor doesn't exist in the Legendverse... <.>;

I think only magic could make sense of the LoS world, so yes, magic. :D

No, they're not.
A real dragonflies wings are paper thin, and face downwards. They flap up and down. Sparx's wings obviously don't face downwards, otherwise you wouldn't even see them from the front, because they're paper thin. That means flapping his wings down would be ineffective and flapping them forward would propel him backwards. Imagine a dragonfly standing on it's tail and trying to fly, it wouldn't work. That's why they're shaped the way they are.

Us Trekkies came up with an acronym to describe when something doesn't quite make sense, "YATI"
Yet Another Trek Inconsistency. Maybe we need that acronym for Spyro, "YASI" Yet Another Spyro Inconsistency. I always could never really understand how Spyro and Cynder have multiple breath weapons. It is biologically possible to have flame breath, I figured dragons were like Bombadier Beetles, mixing nasty stuff in their bodies and spraying it out. And there are fluids that can ignite, just when they mix. (Easy example, the fuel for the German ME-163 rocket plane)

Without wings I figure a dragonfly would be as good as dead, I mean are they going to hop around with only one stump or roll back n forth like a banana.

Fo real, though, guys, you're trying to figure out how talking dragonfly with human idioms and hands can fly. Biologically, it is 100% impossible. Heck, Sparx couldn't technically even breathe at that size, let alone fly.

Well, there's a certain extent as to what I'll accept as "it's just a video game." or "it's magic."
But the truth is, I knew the answer all along. Dragonflies can curve their wings, it's how they move in so many directions, so all Sparx would have to do is curve them downward in each flap. We don't see this in his animation, but that I can accept as "it's just a video game." Besides... who cares?

still its a game they make miistakes it doesnt matter how his wings r shaped in a game, and yes because its the same way spyro can glide and those tiny little wings cant support him!

Scooped wing motion or no, my earlier point still stands: at the size he is in LoS, Sparx could not even survive as an insect (really: his exoskeleton would be so heavy at that size, it would crush him to death) let alone fly.

Funny, though. TLoS Sparx has a cockier personality than the classic one.
