I was looking at breeding more dragons and when I put up Petroleum it wouldn't then let me select Esmeralda... Which means they are related right? I'm doing an extensive search down their family trees now to have a look

That's happened to me sometimes, even when dragons aren't related.

I fixed it by picking a different dragon (random, on the side that isn't working) then trying to select the dragon it wouldn't let me pick and it works.

But my breeding has been twisted, appearing to let me breed related dragons, then pretending to not let me breed un-related ones. XP

It would be weird, I know they aren't closely related and I bought them from separate places (as far as I recall) so it would be odd coincidence!

With too much free time on my hands, I mapped out the entire family trees for Esmeralda the living cake and Petroleum. I discovered that they are, in fact, related by a Wildclaw named Ahern who is Esmeralda's great-great grandfather through her mother and Petroleum's great-grandfather through his father.
Also I discovered that Petrol is the descendant of a pair of dragons called Testosterone and Estrogen while Esmeralda has an anscestor called Bob.
