How do you use your wish stones? [CLOSED]

I had this idea for a thread and mentioned it in another. I figured I would go ahead and create it as someone else thought it was a good idea.

I'd like to know how other people use their wish stones. I used to keep them all until the beginning of the month to make sure I had enough to get the alter ego. Now that I know it usually doesn't take more (or much more) than 200, I figure I can make sure I keep that many on hand. After last month, after getting the alter ego, I purchased 2 Hall of Legends (which maxes it out for me, for now, since I only have 3 Legendaries) and still had over 200 stones left. I was just going to save them up again, but wondered what the point was in keeping more than 200. I thought they might come in handy for some special wishing weekend. They've done it in the past (and again this weekend) with all the alter egos in the well. But I ended up getting them all another time they did that, so I don't need any more. I've wondered if they might eventually have some other deal with the wishing well that might be handy to keep a bunch of stones. So here is what I've been doing:

Every time I get taken to the well (usually only by elemental totems) I'll throw in the stone I just received just for the fun of it. All other stones I've kept (i.e. shrines, sanctuaries, etc.). This seemed to be working well as one of the first times I did it I got a fishery. The next day I ended up with a B&B (my first) and a cocoa stand (which I now have a bunch of, but still cooler than trees and markers).

Since I don't believe there's any real strategy in throwing stones to make sure you get a top prize, I'm not asking for that. But I am curious as to what others do with their stones. Do you just keep a certain amount and throw the rest in? I know some do it to get a little extra energy (which I have plenty of, right now) every once in a while. What other ideas do you have when it comes to throwing stones after the alter ego?

I like your plan of throwing elemental totem stones into the well immediately, and I've started doing it. Well, except that I've stopped for now to accumulate for this weekend (I don't have Cupid Flamslinger, not that I expect to win him but I figure I should try).

I also have all Halls of Legends I need at the moment, but was definitely making that my priority use for stones beforehand.

I too always save at least 200 for the beginning of the next month.

Since I'm not yet level 40, I have otherwise been waiting to accumulate about 100 stones and then I throw them in ASAP. I'm trying to win B&B's, Taverns and Fisheries as quickly as I can to get them adding to my daily xp grind toward level 40 (just passed 50% on level 39!). Once I'm at level 40, I'll probably accumulate most stones for those special wishing weekends.

I also make sure I have roughly 200 stones for the start of the month, in order to get the alter ego.

Hall of Legends are great. Knowing that there are more Legendary Skylanders coming, I am considering saving an extra 200 to have on hand. That way, when they become available in the game and I either spin for them or buy the figures and have the code, I will be immediately able to get another Hall.

As a rule, I save up stones during the day and then take turns spending them with my husband at the end of the day. Just a bit of silly fun. I don't take them very seriously. I'd be delighted to get a shrine, adventure airship, or radient energy field, but it will be a pleasant surprise if it ever happens - not something I expect.

I tend to laugh when I get a string of Hay Bales and Flower Beds. To me, wish stone are mostly random fun.

Don't give up, midas. I was missing several a couple of months ago when they did the wishing weekend. I threw all my stones in and still needed 2 more. With one day left, I kept throwing every stone I got in (and I didn't have shrines to get the extra) and ended up winning them. I let my son throw one in and he said he got Buddy Wrecking Ball (I think that's who it was...don't remember). I thought he was just saying it, but sure enough there he was! smilie Maybe I was very lucky. My first alter ego was Surfer Slam Bam (after I started saving up). I ended up getting all the missing alter egos in one weekend. So never give up smilie

Yeah, but some folks, like you, have tremendous luck relative to me. I won't be giving up but I gotta be realistic! smilie

I've just been letting them accumulate. I've got all the alter egos and fourteen Hall of Legends. The last time I ran out of them was when I got Lucky Boomer with my last stone.

To be honest, if I never got another stone again I'd likely be good until the whole franchise ends.

As such, there has been much discussion about the odds in the well after getting the alter ego for the month. I've been considering doing a large scale test to see how often worthwhile prizes actually come up. Is there any interest in such a thing? I've got 13,710 stones to donate to the cause. Would people actually care?

To see if I don't explain very wrong with my english...
I usually save a few stones (50-60 ) before throwing , except that I lack a few money to spin a Skylander . Sometimes I throw a small amount of stones if I'm bored and there's nothing interesting in the game (my son is bored to throw stones , because lately doesn't get good gifts) .
Before,I saved up stones to get 200 needed for legendary houses, but now I have 10 houses and 10 legendary skylander, so I spend all my stones, except when is approaching the beginning of the month , also I make sure to have 200 stones for the new alter ego.
This week I'm saving all that I can, because I lack two alter ego : Lucky hoppity Pop Fizz and Boomer (the latter I love) .
From the wishing well, I have got (long time ago) one of my first shrines , only one time an energy field, I have obtained 4 B&B , 8 taverns and 9 fisheries. I have never got a ballon, but I got a lot of hay bales and boxes .....
Do you have any strategy to get best gifts ? Throw a few at a time ? Least throw stones? When you have a good gift, do you stop to pull ? .
An affectionate joke:
Midas , have you done a study in spreadsheet to increase good prizes ? smilie smilie

Be very careful trying to draw conclusions from small sample sizes with the well. The percent chance of all those prizes is very low (like ~1%) so you need a large sample size to draw conclusions. You probably need to drop in 1000 to get any real indication of % chances.

Further, I suspect prizes like the shrines are incredibly low rates like 0.1% or maybe even 0.05% simply because I know I have put in several thousand and only won a single shine ever. It would be a statistical annomoly for it to be a 1% and not see several over 1,000s of wishes. Other posters seem to echo this type of trend.

I suspect only our Canadian friend can even come close to figuring out rates of the shrines.

I got a shrine a long time ago (I think when I did my first month's savings to get Surfer Slam Bam). One month I ended up with Ninjini's House. That's about the best that I've gotten other than the alter egos. This was the first month that I decided to throw after getting the alter egos. I ended up getting the B&B. It was my first one, but I also just got to level 36, so maybe that had something to do with it. I've put off quests for community buildings just because I haven't felt like spending the gold and was hoping to get some B&Bs. This was my first, so I'm hoping to get a couple more to get somewhat caught up on my quests. I used to be one who couldn't stand seeing quests just sit there, but when I got to the Potter (forget what level that was), I didn't have much gold (less than 5 mil, I believe) so spending all my gold to get the mabus I needed just didn't seem like a good idea, at the time. I waited so long that I eventually didn't care about that quest (or others since) sitting there (especially after there was a 50% off spins and I did a couple of spins right before Swap Force was introduced to get as many as the special Skylanders that I was missing before regulars got put back in the mix). I now have 36 mil, but would rather wait to see if I get some B&Bs instead of building a bunch of houses.

Wow, I would not have the patience to save as many stones, but I find it is interesting that "donation to the cause".

I will keep all of the stone I can get until the weekend, maybe I get 400. I do not understand of statistics, but it seems a ******small number to can draw conclusions. Anyway, I write about the gifts that I get, if you are interesting too.

I would care. I doubt it would change how I use my wish stones, but I would be very interested to hear your results if you were to toss them all in.

The problem is that I think they occasionally tweak the probabilities. Way back in the day I won a shrine and maybe even an alter ego from the well. That's become exceedingly rare. For a more recent example, remember the bed & breakfast boon that level 36 players received before they fixed that prize's probability?

I've taken to saving 300 stones as a base amount. This is because two months ago when skeletal cinder was in the well I maxed out the well, but before I maxed out the well I was well passed 200 stones and it took me 3 days of totems to get her, so now i keep 300. Also, I don't know if it's always this way but as soon as I maxed out the well the very next spin won SC. I don't know if it was luck or if the well is programmed to immediately give the alt if you max out the well since it's only happened this one time.

After my 300 is banked, except for now when I'm saving up for the event, I go to 400 and let it rip back down to 300, just to add some excitement to life. I've found that no 100 spins are the same some times a BB, sometimes stone pillars. I've never been able to detect a pattern at the 100 at a whack workflow I use. I'm pretty satisfied with what I do get, but I miss the days when the prizes in the well included gems.

I too miss gems being a prize in the well!

One could argue that a Fishery or Tavern is worth more than 3 or 7 gems, but once you already have 6 or 7 of each, they don't feel very special anymore. And gems could add up and be spent as desired.

I would love to see gems back in the well.

I would also love to be able to sell gem items for gems instead of gold. When an item that costs gold can be sold for 1/2 that amount of gold, why can't an item that costs gems be sold for 1/2 that amount of gems? Even 1/4 the amount of gems would make me happy!

Hahaha I love seeing how things progress from those of you farther along in the game. I just crossed over into level 25 yesterday and for the first time this month I am starting to accumulate stones. The past couple of months I've maybe gotten 20 or 30. I've already gotten at least 100 this month, but a very slow and stressful work day earlier this week had me looking for some instant gratification and I threw them all in :/ I did just get my first shrine from a quest, and bought one 1/2 off yesterday, so hopefully with those and the new gifting trend I'll really start to save up and can figure out these fun new toys! Right now I have more than enough crates, twisted trees, and markers than I can count.

Until I get to level 40, I continue to be thrilled to get more fisheries and taverns, as they are big xp producers and require no mabu. And I'll probably still be thrilled afterwards since they will invariably raise the level cap again at some point.

Don't get my wrong cause I love the fisheries.

But now I am WTF when I win one because I don't have any more room. I bought extra room in the storage box just to hold them all while I am 40. If they raise the level cap, I'll have half an island covered with fisheries.

Interestingly with fisheries (and any item 3 long), you can boost them to a 100% bonus (aka double exp) with toparies along the top and bottom. More of course if you do the sides as well.

I am probably one of the few people sitting at 40 trying to optimize my building placement for when/if they raise the cap.

I'm debating on buying Ma-Boo at half off. I don't really need him, but at 15 gems, it might be fun to have him just to have another companion in my collection for really cheap. Maybe I could treat my Ma-Boo stones like elemental totem stones and throw them in.
