Flight Rising: The Withering [PRIVATE] [CLOSED]

(This is not an entirely private RP. Anyone with a Flight Rising account can join.)

The world of Flight Rising may not be what you think it is. Instead of Flights, the dragons have started to build off of ruins and create kingdom/queendoms. There is conflict over this, as some dragons worship under the Flight system and want separation by Flight, by the 'true deities', but it is usually minor.

Due to lack of belief in the deities, the lands and creatures start to lose their connection to the elements, and the world slowly withers. This has allowed the Shade to influence the world. Dragons who are corrupted by the Shade, or are believers in the Shade, are everywhere, and their numbers are increasing by the day...

~~ Plot in the second post ~~

RULES

1. You must be on Flight Rising in order to join.

2. As with typical RP rules, no god-modding or meta-gaming. You cannot take control of others characters without permission. Unless your character has a backstory with someone else's character, they will not know everything is to be about them, or know other characters' names before they are told the, No character will have a complete idea of what is going on, as well, and have to learn more, and more about the events as time goes on. No perfect characters, of course.

3. Please do not ignore other characters in the RP when they are near the character, unless that person is breaking the rules.

4. Please do not write using any "chat speak" and try your best with grammar, and spelling.

5. Do not mix in-character drama with out-of-character drama, and be respectful of other players.

6. Your character(s) will not be killed without permission, but PLEASE be 'realistic' in fights and wounds. Even if your character is probably a super tough dragon, they also have their limits.

7. Two characters per person! We don't want people to get confused by too many characters.

8. Keep it clean. If you catch the drift.

THE KINGDOMS AND QUEENDOMS
Map

Nostrum (Light/Shadow/Nature)
Major City: The Shining City of Near (Light)
An old territory, with high beliefs in that of bloodlines and separation by class, if only the King shared the same opinion. Due to conflicting opinions within the government there's daily assassination attempts on the King. Despite this unrest, many will claim that the economy is doing well at least, as Nostrum is a major source for food due to its plentiful forests, as well as... other business.

Near
Its major city is massive, and seemingly forever encrusted in gold. Near is home to one of the greatest libraries known, the library being one of the few places that was kept unchanged ever since the times of Flights. Though, some would prefer if the old library was made into something they deem more "productive". (Light)

Willowspur: Dusk City. Thieves, tricksters and more. This dark town tends to attract ''Shady'' people that observe your every move from the shadows, so you better watch your satchels if you don't want to lose your precious treasure. Your life too! (Shadow)
Avianda: A small town full of wildlife, stuck in the past. Many are secretly believers of the Flights and their deities. Even more were exiled from their former king/queendom, either by choice... or by force. Very "down to earth," some hope to start a peaceful change back to the Flights. Avianda is also a home to many shamans and skilled healers, as well as to some Shade corrupted dragons that practice dark magic and voodoo. (Nature)

---

Elastrea (Arcane/Ice/Wind)
Major City: The Floating City of Solsicra (Arcane)
The western territories compose the nation of Elastrea. It's difficult to summarize the entirety of the land. From the knowledgeable Solsicra, the fun-loving Kezyl, and the distant, apathetic Winterstar, Elastrea has much variety.

Solsicra
Thanks to magical energies buried in the territory, the city of Solsicra hovers in the sky. While most dragons can flap their wings all the way to Solsicra, those who are unable to fly can take a flying ship, courtesy of Kezyl. Carved out of amethyst, it is considered one of the most beautiful cities. On the other hand, Solsicrans are stereotyped as being knowledgeable, yet highly paranoid and cowardly. Though not all are like this, some live in fear of the time when the world will end, when the deities will backlash... or even when the Shade will return. (Arcane)

Winterstar: Bittercold City. A harsh, xenophobic land. Blizzards regularly fly in and out, but the native dragons have grown resistant to the cold. (Ice)
Kezyl: Mistral City. Known for its festivals, parties, celebrations, soirees... oh, and hurricanes. (Wind)

---

Azorus (Water/Lightning/Fire)
Major City: The Coral City of Altera (Water)
A territory best known for the technology, weapons, and armors it produces. Azorus is a battle-hardened land, where many dragons are trained to fight and defend. Were something to ever threat the land, Azorus would be the first on the frontlines, with their famed loyalty and courage at their sides.

Altera
Stone bridges from the surrounding Kezyl, Darksteel, and Near lead to the city of Altera. It's central point in the land makes it a popular trading hub. Built upon the Sea of a Thousand Currents, the dragons of Altera channel the restoration powers of the water to heal their comrades, during and after battle. Long ago, a good portion of the city sunk into the ocean, creating a layer of mystery around the city. Altera is also home to many oracles, seers, and diviners, though some believe that it's all just superstition. (Water)

Darksteel: Mechanical City. A city built in the stormy desert, where modern wires and generators fill the landscape. The few non-scientists tend to live in the Highland Scrubs, away from the constant whirring of machines. (Lightning)
Zimogor: Ebony City. The best place for an aspiring blacksmith. It supplies many cities with tools from the forge, as well as mass producing shipments from Darksteel. (Fire)

OTHER PLACES

Dragon's Crest (Earth)
Where the shattered base of the pillar lies, is where the faithful dragons who still believe in the Deities lie aswell. Dragon's Crest is the only place where Flights and deity worshiping are still practiced. Generally, these 'rebels' are largely ignored by the other nations... for now.

The Banished Lands (Plague)
The Scarred Wastelands serve as the prison of the traitorous, exiled dragons of the land. In a rotting, merciless territory where food is scare, where diseased vermin roam freely, and where the sun never shines, only the strong survive.

INTRO PLOT

''For one reason or another, you've decided to go to the Mask Festival in Altera, a festival where all Kingdoms/Queendoms are "united", a night of games and general light-heartedness, but also some business dealings and politics. Most dragons and creatures here come here wearing some kind of mask; you may or may not have one.

It's almost time for the art performances to start when you see that a few dragons are surrounding something. It smells of death (maybe it's just a Plague dragon showing off their wilts again), but you go to see what the commotion is about. It is not a Plague dragon, but it is a dragon indeed, and it is dying.

Its eye sockets are bottomless, an inky darkness leaking out of them as if they were tears. There are no other signs of injuries on the dragon, but it seems to be trying to say something over and over again...

"I refuse you, I refuse you, I do not want this any longer...I-I'm not-"

It seems as if the dragon dies, but it kept "crying". At closer inspection, this inky blackness is being adsorbed into the ground. A medical dragon arrives, and rushes to the dragon to see if they can help, but of course, it was already too late.

Then, a shatter...the ground shattered like glass. What could do this? Strips of darkness reach out from the sudden cracks in the ground, and launches towards dragons nearby -- like spears. This "darkness" has substance, and seems... ravenous. There is mass panic. "

~If anyone is confused, the plot starts BEFORE the dragon's sudden death. Just build your way through the intro.~

OOC: BEAUTIFUL.

Name: Autumn
[User Posted Image]
Nicknames (if any): N/A
Link to Dragon:http://flightrising.com/main.php?dragon=828469
Gender: Female
Skills/Powers:

  • Rune Slash
  • Reflect
  • Mana bolt
  • Basic scratch and bite attacks

She enjoys combat, and won't think twice before entering a battle.
Aligned With:(Kingdom | Shade | Deity | Neutral)
Personality: Stubborn and arrogant, she doesn't care what others think of her and her actions. She doesn't work well with others, as she often goes off and does her own thing if they don't agree to her plans. She doesn't believe in compromise, and she won't let anyone tell her what to do. She has her own path laid out for her, and she'll do what she wants, when she wants. She cannot stand other dragons, but she loves familiars and any local wildlife, for they don't talk back.
History: She was one of four eggs in the nest, though two of the eggs had rotted, and that just left her and her brother Dakota. For a few years she grew up under the gentle supervision of her parents, often roaming in the forests with her brother, catching fireflies. One night, her brother was killed by a rouge dragon, expected to be a Shade worshipper. Her parents were devastated, and ever since then, they never let Autumn out of their sight. Her once enjoyable childhood turned into a restricted one. She was forced to stay inside the lair, and only was allowed to go outside when both her parents were present. She lived like that for years. When she was old enough to take care of herself, she left home without second thoughts. She decided to roam Nostrum, looking for danger, and the adventure she was deprived of as a hatchling.
Homeland: Willowspur. Thus the reason of her unruly behavior. A couple generations before her, her family traveled there from Solsicra which is why here heritage is Arcane.
Familiar (optional): Her Red-Breasted Hainu, Asha.
[User Posted Image]
Asha is extremely loyal to Autumn, and will do almost anything Autumn asks her to. She is often the logic to her masters outrageous plans.
Other: Finds little value in her pearl, other than using it as a bowling ball to pummel her enemies. Young adult age. In human years, around 17-18.

Name: Mako
[User Posted Image]
Nicknames (if any): N/A
Link to Dragon:http://flightrising.com/main.p...gon&did=1090814
Gender: Male
Skills/Powers:

  • Reflect
  • Flame bolt
  • Blazing slash
  • Basic scratch and bite attacks

He also would rather outsmart his opponents than fight them physically. Better at fire attacks than anything else, he prefers long range fighting, he doesn't want to get too close to his foes.
Aligned With:(Kingdom | Shade | Deity | Neutral)
Personality: Gentle and passive, he'd rather back down than put up a fight. He seeks adventure, if only it weren't so dangerous. He can and will go to extremes to protect his friends, and when someone else's safety is threatened. He'll completely disregard his own safety for others. He'd rather get hurt than hurt others.
History: Mako hatched alone. He first saw two eggs beside him in the nest, one was rotten, and stone cold, and the other was smashed. Smashed at a premature age, it must've happened long ago, but not long enough for the shell to decompose. There were no other dragons around at the time. All that was in the lair was the abandoned nest, the stalagmites of the lair, and a red Steampunk scarf that was hooked on the edge of the nest. Mako took the scarf and put it on, and never took it off. It was his security item, it made him feel safe. For a few weeks, he was afraid to leave the safety and familiarity of the small, lonely lair that was abandoned. The little nest was where he slept. Eventually, he was driven out by hunger, as he had run out of things that were edible in the lair. He wandered Azorus as an orphan, often stealing small trinkets from dragons that were unaware of his presence. He would later sell the items for treasure, that he would spend on food. It wasn't a hard life, but it wasn't easy, either. As he got a bit older, it was harder for him to hide, for he was larger now than when he was a hatchling. He now struggles to adapt to new ways of making money and finding food. He refuses to hunt food on his own, because he 'cant bear the burden of having killed another living creature'.
Homeland: Zimogor.
Familiar (optional): N/A. He's always been alone.
Other: Has an extreme phobia of water, and the dark. He also hates the concept of death and refuses to discuss anything about it. He is considerably smaller than most dragons his age, perhaps from malnourishment. He isn't an adult dragon, but he isn't a hatchling. if there was a teenager stage of maturity for dragons, he'd be around there age-wise. Also, the sight of blood sometimes makes him faint...
Please pretend he's Fire Flight, I cannot work with Wind dragons battle-wise for some odd reason.

Yay!! smilie ~

[User Posted Image][User Posted Image]

Name: Gaia

Nicknames: (if any) None.

Link to Dragon: http://flightrising.com/main.p...gon&did=1056666 Pic works as well. smilie

Gender: Female

Skills/Powers: Scratch, Shred, Haste (At the moment!!)

Aligned With: (Kingdom/Shade/Deity/Neutral)

Personality: Playful, understanding and intelligent. She is very kind, but can seem standoffish to people who don't know her. She tries to be as optimistic as possible. She can sometimes, however, can get depressed, down and serious... and she struggles sometimes with that aspect of her personality, almost like another side of her. Doesn't care what others think... Most of the time. Is a bit of a klutz.

History: When she was a hatchling, her small town (NOT Near) was raided by Shade worshipers. She still isn't quite sure of what happened, as she was very young. A few of them cornered her, and although she was able to hide in a secret cave her town had for emergencies, it was very cramped, and she was stuck for awhile while the Shade dragons destroyed her hometown. After they left, she finally got out of the cave, only to find that her wings were weak and undeveloped, not to mention the fact that she never even learned how to fly. Alone, she searched for her any remains of her town... And bumped (literally) into Reef, a dragon of her hometown she had never gotten to meet. The Fae, as young as her, said he somehow escaped the Shade dragons. As possibly the lone survivors of the attack, the two found Near, the nearest (pun intended) city to them. Exhausted, they established a home... And they are still there today. Barely... You've got to be a certain kind of dragon to make it in Near. And neither of them are that kind of dragon.

Homeland: Near

Familiar (optional): An Emerald Cave Jewel To be RPed~

Other: Secretly still believes in the Flights and Deities. She hides it from others due to the fact that she doesn't want to get caught up in all of the attacks on the King... Or attacks towards her. She wants to one day leave Near... Her friend, Reef, (ehh cameo character) thinks it would be best for both of them... For his own reasons she isn't aware of. Cannot fly, but is able in skill of traversing difficult terrain fast. Her choice in apparel shows her pride of being Nature Flight, but she is, of course, careful where she wears it.

Gaia and Reef have a much longer backstory... But it doesn't fit the RP (It involves Flights heavily) and was, obviously, too long. So I changed it up a little and summed it down... So if it stinks, that's why. Well, probably also the fact that I haven't RPed in over a year.

EDIT: Just added Gaia's new ability, Haste. I'm just gonna add any new things she gets in the Coliseum. But...

How do we RP Haste? e_e

His claws are stronger than most, and he loves to go through attacking.
Aligned With: Shade
Personality: He is very vicious, and attacks nearly anyone that comes near him.
History: Before the Kingdoms, he was very kind and accepting. But when the Kingdoms came into existence, he became very aggravated, and was banished. The Shade was creeping over the Banished Lands, and influenced some of them for The Shade, and Rorrim became even more vicious once completely influenced.

She has fairly weak claws, but her quick intellect makes up for it. In a tight time period, she can easily think of something to do, and she loves her thoughts.
Aligned With: Deity
Personality: Can be a little rude at times, but also very shy at others. Usually fairly caring, but not a listener nor a speaker. Usually likes to be alone, but with a small group of people at other times.
History: She was always very peaceful, but could be a little rude, as always, especially towards the other Flights. After the Kingdoms came into being, she went into hiding for a little while, but now she has come out of hiding, and still has a firm belief in the Flights+Deities.

Name: Sigilius Nostrum
Nicknames: Prefers Sigil
Link to Dragon: click
Gender: Male
Skills/Powers:

  • Regeneration: Sigilius can cast a Regeneration spell on himself, or others, that can increase the healing of wounds, and is a bit less effective in battle than outside of it. This drains his strength if the spell is left cast too long. This ability, and other healing-based abilities, are less effective on him due to his "Negate" power.
  • Stealth: Trained from some of the most professional sneaks in Willowspur, Sigilus is skilled at keeping himself hidden.
  • Ward: Sigilius can cast a ward spell on himself or others, which is a shield that can adsorb SOME damage taken from foes.
  • Close-Range Battle: His battle skills are defined for close-range, be it flying or on the ground, and is more defensive based, relying mostly on deflecting blows and using the opponent's strength against them.
  • Negate: A rather useful power when defending against magic-based creatures, negate can temporarily weaken magic's effects on whoever this is cast upon, and even reflect some magical attacks if used at higher strength. Use of this ability decreases the effectiveness of healing spells cast on him, permanently.

Aligned With: "Neutral"
Personality: A commoner thrown into the shell of a great aristocrat, some may say, a rebellious child who is too ideal for his own good, some may say, and some may even say that he's a visionary, and that he is destined for great things. Is he any of those, or is he all of those, you may ask? Perhaps, perhaps he is, or perhaps he is none of those things.

Sigil is without those delusions of grandeur that many nobles before him, and around him, hold. He lays his eyes upon the golden, shining city and is not fixated, or riveted to it, and does not think that it should be more – that it should have more gold, or fine jewellery, that all must be dressed in the greatest clothing. He looks upon the Shining City, and he sees travesty, he sees rich people like him spoonfed almost everything, even their deaths, and he sighs – because what he also sees is Willowspur, and Avianda. He sees those who suffer even within the Shining City itself, and feels as if something is askew, something is terribly wrong with this massive place he rules, that there is room for improvement, and not only in the richness of the city.

It was a place that he never thought he would rule in the first place, as he never considered himself destined for the bloodright, he never felt right within his family, and frankly considered all the richness, all the politics and such to be a little too much. He would much rather wander the world without the shackles of noble blood, and without the shackles of duty – he was trained all his life for this one thing, his future was already laid out in front of him and he had little choice. He could not trust the other aristocrats, and surely not the assassins, and the ones who would try to bribe with riches. Though, what did he know? He had lived in the Shining City for most of his life, and surely barely leaving Nostrum.

Despite his visions of fixing the system he was wedged in, he lacks the effort – he was not raised to be one of direct action, one of direct movement and decision, and it shows, as a major flaw of his character. He was given the greatest education by the great library, the greatest food and the greatest protective training, and given the greatest case of lethargy. He was not one that was raised in an environment that supported the opposing of the system, or how strongly he feels as if something is wrong, he was supposed to believe that Nostrum was perfect, and would stay perfect. He believes that his changes are to take time, but is still hesitant to even issue orders, as not many willingly comply.

To be developed throughout RP!
History: His life was the dull, boring life of a Prince that was to be fed the same beliefs of his parents and to reinforce their customs, but something went terribly wrong with that – perhaps they allowed too free selection of books for him, or just gave him too much freedom in general. Now that he is king, there is ruckus about his methods and beliefs.
Homeland: Grew up in Near of Nostrum
Familiar (optional): n/a
Other: None for now.

Okay. Apologies if everything is bad, it was slightly rushed because I didn't want to hold people back on the RP.

Name: Polaris
Nicknames (if any): n/a
Link to Dragon:
[User Posted Image]
Gender: Female
Skills/Powers: Not physically strong in the least, and not particularly magically gifted, so she relies on those who serve the royal family for protection. She also relies on making a good impression and maintaining control with words.
Aligned With (Kingdom/Shade/Deity/Neutral): Queen of Elastrea, believes in the system of kingdoms rather than flights but as religion has passed down, she still keeps some of the virtues held by the Arcanist, whose flight she descends from.
Personality: A well-educated, well-spoken dragoness, known for a burning determination and perseverence. She will stand up for what she believes and fight (verbally) for as long as it takes to see it happen. Unfortunately this has made her very self-righteous and stubborn. Nonetheless, she will protect her land and subjects fiercely. She likes to make a good impression on her public, so she will attend any event she can get to, both within and outside her kingdom, in order to appear involved and interested.
Polaris preaches the idea of a system where people have the opportunity to do as they wish, and where everyone is able to form and achieve an ambition of their own. She has no externally-displayed prejudice against anybody's choice of beliefs, but internally she somewhat frowns upon the old system of beliefs and the way flights used to be "locked to their deities" since, going on what she has been raised to believe about it, she thinks it is too restricting and leaves people living in fear of the deities who they let rule their daily lives (perhaps a slightly skewed view but the view she was taught, subtly, by her own mother). The only thing she refuses to tolerate is shade worship, though she doesn't actively seek it out; if it is brought to her attention, she will do her best to remove the person or group involved in it.
Because of her strict upbringing, she is very strict about her own set of behaviors, and fussy about getting things wrong, since she is determined to maintain an impressive image. At least as impressive as something of her tiny size can get. Her very regular education as a child has left her quite well informed of the world around her, so if an unfamiliar situation arises she is likely not to make the best decisions.
History: Born and raised in Solsicra, she has had a strict upbringing but relatively uneventful life (as far as royal life goes). As a child she was a dreamer, a believer in the Arcanist, and thought becoming queen would grant her endless freedom to explore whichever aspects of the world and beyond that she wanted to study. Now she is very knowledgeable, but tied down in her royal duties and politics. It was a bit disappointing for her as she came to the throne when younger, but she has settled into her duties and matured.
Homeland: Elastrea
Familiar (optional): A psywurm who accompanies her to almost every formal occasion. His full name is "Theodore" but she affectionately refers to him as "Todd". He behaves like a typical feline as he will sit everywhere he shouldn't be sitting and moan non-stop for hours if not given the fuss and attention he wants. Polaris spoils him rotten but he adores her in return.

---

Name: Regulus
Nicknames (if any): Anything but Reggie
Link to Dragon:
[User Posted Image]
Gender: Male
Skills/Powers: Largely trained as a physical fighter in case of conflict, but he can use some magical ability, though he hasn't trained in it much. He's taught himself to breathe purple fire which isn't really any improvement on normal fire but it looks cooler.
Aligned With (Kingdom/Shade/Deity/Neutral): Kingdom of Elastrea
Personality: Very serious about his jobs, and will work with extreme dedication. Outside of work, he is a little more light-hearted, fun and friendly, but responds quickly to any sign of threat, as he was trained to be constantly on the ball and never let his guard down. He enjoys flirting but has had very, very limited success with lady dragons and relationships so far in his life.
History: Born to a family who traditionally served the queen, he trained throughout his young adult years and became one of the public guards of Queen Polaris of Elastrea. After sustaining an accidental leg and wing injury, he took out early retirement, despite being quite young, and now finds himself smaller, normally brief jobs as the likes of temporary night guards (e.g. as replacing someone on sick leave) or security at a few-day festival. Thus, he was a member of security at this festival when the disaster happened. He has had a partner before (is marriage a thing that happens in this universe?) but they split apart and she took the children. He hasn't seen her since.
Homeland: Elastrea
Familiar (optional): None
Other: He wouldn't like to talk about it to anyone, but he really misses his kids.

Gender: Female.
Skills/Powers: Do Scratch, Shred, and Mana Bolt count? idk i'll see if i can more later
Aligned With: Deity (Arcanist, to be more exact).
Personality: She's generally quiet, but yet incredibly energetic and passionate. While often playful and cheerful most of the time, she can easily become very grim when faced with something horrible, causing her usual silence to become rather worrying. She believes in justice and can often do very stupid things in the defense of others, but she insists it's bravery rather than stupidity. Maybe it's both. Maybe to her they're the same thing.
History: Has believed in the Deities, and served the Arcanist in particular, for as long as she can remember. She has also been the leader of her clan (for lack of a better term idk what to call it aaaah) for some time now, vowing to give protection to those that are defenseless (even if this inevitably gets her into some mess or another).
Homeland: Dragon's Crest.
Familiar (optional): A Black Dwarf Unicorn by the name of Epona that has a tendency to give her looks that say 'When are you ever not an idiot?' Nonetheless is a loyal companion and also rather fond of making food mysteriously go missing. Is adored by Link.
Other: Sometimes when she does speak, she ends her sentence with the wrong word.

Personality: Cold, but not exactly emotionless. She spends most of her time being depressed for some reason or another, and tends to be easily annoyed. Rarely has fun, and also doesn't tolerate stupidity. Even so, she can be nice and (very rarely) happy. Sometimes. Pray you cherish that memory forever for you may not see it happen again. Perhaps a bit bossy on occasion, but does try to keep everyone's best interest to heart even if she happens to dislike everyone present.
History: Was found and raised by Link as a hatchling, but doesn't remember what things were like prior to being found beyond never ending nightmares and sorrow.
Homeland: Dragon's Crest.
Familiar (optional): Doesn't have one.
Other: Still suffers from nightmares.

did i do it right

Name: Aeos
Nicknames: n/a
Link to Dragon: Link
Gender: Female
Skills/Powers: As a dragon of Ice descent, she's able to cast frigid bolts of ice. However, she's much better at fighting with tooth and claw. While not built for battling at the frontlines, she's a master at sneaking and attacking from behind. Being an agile Wildclaw, she can still attempt to battle an enemy upfront, but if she gets hit, the battle's usually over.
Aligned With: Neutral
Personality: A single word used to describe her would be "strange". She's absent-minded, and tends to blurt out random, unrelated things during a period of absent-mindedness. She rarely gets angry; instead, she resides in a plane of bliss and calmness. For some reason, she never cries or feels overly sad at anyone's death. Despite all this, she can be, in fact, an intellectual dragon, good at using her wits to survive.
History: While being born normally into a normal family within a normal city, Aeos is not normal. One day, a bored, young adult Aeos decided to say her goodbyes to her family, leave Kezyl, and travel across the land. During her stay at Willowspur, she ended up learning the art of assassinating (apparently from someone named "Lucien"). She was then given a task, to prove herself worthy as an assassin. Some days later, a few rather obnoxious citizens were slain... With her treasure-filled purse in hand, Aeos fled the scenes of the crimes, leaving barely a trace. For her own safety, she has not been to Nostrum since, but she still has contact with the dragons who taught her how to kill - the ones who are still alive and haven't been captured or killed, at least. While scouring the other lands for adventure, she suddenly receives an invitation to the Mask Festival...
Homeland: Kezyl of Elastrea
Familiar: Arcus, an Arcane Sprite♂. In contrast to Aeos, Arcus is serious and humorless, but he is stressed out easily. He enjoys reading a 'good' (read: sappy romance) book in a quiet, Aeos-free atmosphere. They don't always get along well.
Other: Aeos is a wanderer, never staying in one place for too long. She knows a bit of history, but not too much, and most of it is about the Ice Flight. Her favorite things include apple pie, unicorns, opera singing, and pretending to be a snail when she's alone and bored.

Name: Arisen
Nicknames: Call him 'Ari', if you enjoy Vile Bolts to your face.
Link to Dragon: Link
Gender: Male
Skills/Powers: Putrid Vile Bolts are his friends. Occasionally, his spell, "Contaminate", can infect the target with a contagious virus, should they not have enough willpower to resist. However, he tends to get squished easily, so he relies on his allies to protect him. When he is confronted by an enemy, he will take to the air and flee.
Aligned With: The Kingdom of Azorus
Personality: Arisen is not one for socializing, preferring solitude over the company of others. His coldness, sternness, and distrust of others indicate this - he would most likely fit easily in Winterstar, despite having no lineage there. There are still rumors that he does not even care for the well-being of his nation - and that to him, it's only about the glory of war and the victory in battles. That may be false, but Arisen does not deny enjoying the glory of battle. He is also rather vain, and walks with an air of nobility around him, perhaps something he still kept from his time in Near. Some dragons even like to say that this anti-social Pearlcatcher is secretly just lonely.
History: Life in Near was just not enough for Arisen. After discovering his talent for crafting steampunk, battling, and battling with steampunk technology, he left Nostrum and migrated to the battle-hardened nation of Azorus. He settled down in Darksteel, working with the machines all day and all night. Because of his use of magic, and rather odd, dark magic at that, he was met with suspicion and even some hostility from the citizens. To prove his loyalty, he decided to instead fight for his nation, using his own crafts to aid him. Eventually, after some formalities, Arisen gradually rose up the ranks to a commander of the Azorian Army. He then had to move to the capital city, Altera, where he currently resides and continues his work.
Homeland: Born in Near of Nostrum, moved to Darksteel of Azorus, now resides in Altera of Azorus
Familiar: n/a
Other: The scroll hung around his neck is of Arcane origin, despite him being plague. He also really likes cats.

Name: Nyssa
Nicknames: Nyssy, but only by really close friends
Link to Dragon: [User Posted Image] In case FR keeps going down
Gender: Female
Skills/Powers: Scratch, Slash, Bite, Rune Slash, and weapons
Aligned With (Kingdom/Shade/Deity/Neutral): Neutral
Personality: Nyssa is a loner, though not necessarily by choice. She doesn't mind being social, but never has a reason to. She can be quite friendly and protective if she ever gets really close to someone. She isn't afraid to fight, and isn't afraid to do what needs to be done to survive. She can come across as a bit harsh and cold, but it's all slowly beginning to wear at her, and she's slowly starting to see that life is precious. She isn't one to rush into a fight unless someone taunts her. She won't back down from a challenge. She's very good at strategy and would much rather take in her surroundings and her opponents before jumping into a fight. She's strong and quick, but lacks confidence in herself. Besides fighting, she thinks she's really not good for much else. She's never really been sure of who she is, or what she's meant to do. Fighting is her main focus, since it's all she has left of her parents, who taught her that she should always fight bravely, and never hide or flee, as a coward.
History: Nyssa was the only survivor of a nest of two. Her parents cherished her, but were also quite hard on her, wanting her to be the best. It wasn't long after she was born that her parents took her from their home in Solsicra, tired of the cowardly ways of most dragons there, to find a new life in Azorus, much preferring to fight than to hide as cowards. Soon after, Nyssa's parents left to find food in Willowspur and never returned. Nyssa assumed them dead. When she was a bit older, she made her way to Willowspur and soon took up the life of the dragons there. Eventually she got tired of it and traveled to Avianda, then traveled the world. There are very few places she hasn't been, and also quite a few places she isn't too fond of. Currently, she is living in Zimogor, trying to make a living there.
Homeland: Born in Solcicra, raised in Altera, grew up in Willowspur, currently resides in Zimogor.
Familiar (optional): N/A (for now?)
Other: N/A

Name: Rhamus
Nicknames (if any): N/A
Link to Dragon: [User Posted Image] Just in case...
Gender: Male
Skills/Powers: Meditate, Contuse, Vile Bolt, Leaf Bolt, and Envenom, though he doesn't know he has this last skill for he's never attempted to use it. He mostly uses magical attacks, though prefers not to fight much.
Aligned With (Kingdom/Shade/Deity/Neutral): Kingdom
Personality: Rhamus is very kind and caring. He may be from the plague flight, but he's anything but a plague dragon. He was raised to a different set of ideals, and now loves all living things and thinks fighting and war is a waste of time. He believes in a better world, and believes the Kingdoms will get them there. He doesn't like the separation of flights, and would rather see all dragons unite as one under the Kingdoms, believing all dragons to be of one true breed. Though he doesn't like the separation the Flights bring about, nor the stereotyping because of it, he still holds to the Deities, a bit, and if questioned, wouldn't be able to deny their importance. He fits in more with the Gladekeeper than the Plaguebringer, which causes a lot of ridicule by those who still hold to the Flight Systems. His deepest desire is to be rid of barriers and separation and have everyone get along, as he's witnessed happen in the beauty of nature around him. He's quite friendly and sociable, but shy about his past and his beliefs, though he openly supports the Kingdoms and will let anyone and everyone know it. He can be a bit down at times because he has such a troubling past, but generally he is quite optimistic and happy. When it comes to fighting, he will defend himself with magic, but will usually stun and run. He's not much for fighting, and when he does, he stays as far away as possible, and is very good at disappearing into the shadows. He's also quite quick, which makes for easy getaways.
History: Rhamus was born in The Banished Lands, but after having him, his mother, from the Nature Flight, realized her mistake in being there. She fled with her two sons and arrived in Avianda, where she made a new home for her family. Rhamus was raised in Avianda, much like a true dragon from the Nature Flight, but his red eyes always serve to remind him of where he was born, and who his father is... A Shade Follower. (His brother shares the Green eyes of the Nature Flight, and Rhamus will forever be jealous.)
Homeland: Avianda.
Familiar (optional): N/A. (Will probably add one later, but if I do, it'll show up as part of the RP.)

EDIT: OOC: Added a bit, because, boredom.

Autumn weaved through the crowd, occasionally jerking her black hood down to cover her eyes as the wind tugged at her scales, and made her pearl feel heavy wrapped in her tail. She loved events like these, but for the wrong reasons. She didn't come here to 'party', no, she was here to make some fast cash. Her Hainu, Asha, trailed not far behind her. the dog-bird creature was undoubtedly loyal. Autumn knew she could trust her life in Asha's paws. A great thieving parter, as well... Ah... Thieving... So many unsuspecting dragons to choose from, obviously filthy rich, and they didn't mind to show it. Golden bracelets, tail rings, loose change... She couldn't wait to get started. She pressed her Bronze Steampunk goggles down over her eyes, and started to step away into the crowd, carefully selecting her prize. "A necklace? No. How about a gemstone? Perhaps." She thought. Autumn occasionally fidgeted with her gloves or her goggles as she looked amongst the crowd, eyes hungry for riches, and excitement. Asha looked around cautiously, and leaned over to Autumn. "Something doesn't feel right about this place. I can't explain it." She murmured. Autumn gave her a quizzical look. "What do you mean? This is a party, it's not supposed to feel right. It's supposed to be happy, 'lets have a good time and maybe get drunk' kind of place. It shouldn't feel right."
"No, not in that way. I mean, the place is fine, it's a party and all, but, well, it just doesn't feel right. Something seems... Off."
"Maybe it's your brain that's off," Autumn scowled. "Anyways, lets just get in, and get out. Take what we need. This 'happy attitude' thing is making me sick." Autumn adjusted her goggles and scanned through the crowd, picking out an unsuspecting Tundra with a satchel full of gems. "Who carries gems to a party?" Autumn asked no one in particular, with a tone of disgust. Asha sighed.

Mako drifted through the crowd of dragons, confused and lost. Lost? How could he be lost? It's not like he has anywhere to go to. He has nowhere to be. He stumbled through the masses of dragons as he tried to ease his worried mind. He was here for some relaxation anyways. "My entire life can't be about finding food and shelter, as important as that is. I have to have some sort of fun." He thought. Though, as much as he tried, his mind always drifted back to his usual stresses. He anxiously wondered what he would eat later that night, or where he would sleep. Mako let out a sigh. "Just once tonight. Just once. So I can put my mind at rest. I'll take one thing. Just one. Then I'll know I'll be able to afford dinner, and I can enjoy myself... For once." With a grim expression, he elegantly lifted off into the air, hovering only a few feet above the ground. He looked over the area, for somewhere to sit and look over the place. He knew that once he had stolen something from a dragon he would have to leave immediately, before he got caught. The task was much easier when he was a hatchling. Now, only a few years from adulthood, he was far too large to hide in bushes. Although, he was already much smaller than the average dragon his age. He settled on a slight incline on the main floor, almost high enough to be considered a hill. He stood there, and waited. Looking over the crowd of dragons, he searched for someone with something valuable. At least, something valuable enough to get him a good meal.

A slick, snowy wildclaw snaked in through the horde of dragons, finding her place near a less-crowded souvenir stand, though she did not seem to want to buy anything. A smile crept across her face, her eyes hidden under both the white cowl and the ornamented, feathered blue mask she wore. Despite her mysterious appearance, she spoke with a firm, yet joyous voice. "My, what thrill! What excitement! Does this not excite you, Arcus?" The only response that she received was a low grunt and a disgruntled reply from the pink sprite sitting on her back, wearing a silver regal masque, burying his face into an old, worn book. "I don't like festivals. It's hard to read with all the noise."
The dragon, Aeos, turned her head away from Arcus and rolled her eyes, though she couldn't deny that it was certainly noisy in the city. Even for a populated city like Altera. In fact, the sheer number of dragons was making her a bit... nervous. No doubt there were many from Nostrum who've come to enjoy the Mask Festival. If someone from the town of Willowspur recognized her, it could be a problem...
'Enough of this,' thought Aeos as she shook her head, 'I'm here to enjoy a festival, and so I shall enjoy said festival. Just keep your hood up, and everything will go fine.'

Or so she thought.

---

The Pearlcatcher's iridescent, amaranthine scales glistened as he peered down from the balcony where he stood. With the watchful gaze of an Aviar, he slowly turned his head as he looked across the cheerful dragons enjoying the festivities below. While he was wearing a mask, it was most likely not made for the Mask Festival - it would probably scare off some poor hatchling. Arisen's ears suddenly perked up as he heard someone speak.
"Arisen, are you not going down to the Mask Festival?" spoke a charcoal-colored Ridgeback, with fiery wings so massive, it's a wonder he could hold them at his sides. But he earned no reply, as Arisen continued to gaze down below silently. The Ridgeback was hesitant for a moment, but took this as a sign to continue. "The art performances are about to begin. Don't you want to be there to watch?"
Arisen grit his teeth before curtly responding, "I don't usually participate in parties."
There was a short silence before the large, masked Ridgeback turned his head and sighed. "If you want to make a good impression, you should get down there and engage in the festivities." Turning around to get ready to leave, he shot another glance at the pearlcatcher. "At least reassure the citizens with your presence, you know..." And with that, he left.
Arisen said nothing. He closed his blood-red eyes, a symbol of his Plague heritage. Then, opening his eyes and getting up to all four paws, he spread his midnight black wings and leapt off the balcony, gliding swiftly to the ground.

His eyelids were doors rusted shut, as he was hunched over, wrapped within leaves and fine fabrics. Dark body was completely still save for the small movement from his quiet breathing, as he was deeply out of focus of the happenings surrounding him.

“Your Majesty?”

He opened his eyes, pure white and dazed at the sudden invasion of light, and mumbled gibberish under his breath. His muscles twitched slightly, but then relaxed as his eyelids started to drop.

“Did you hear me, King Sigilius?”

Sigil's eyes twitched open, his tail curling as he stretched, and peered at the servant. “I thought I told you not to call me that,” his voice was distorted for he yawned as he spoke. For a moment, he was unwares of where he was, but then it all came back to focus. He was in his tent, lavishly decorated by the locals in Altera, going against his word for he had specifically said to make it simple, or at least simpler than this. Gold and red lined, with a touch of royal indigo, there were unnecessary banners hanging on the ceilings – which made the tent droop in an unearthly way, and there were also so many pillows. It was comfortable, he had to admit, as he had aptly wrapped himself within all the leaves and blankets.

"Sigilius, then," the servant's words were soft. He was a Spiral, a, long ribbon hovering near Sigil's head, flapping all two pairs of his wings. "Need I remind you that there are those waiting for you outside?" The Spiral's words sharpened, as did his stare.

"I suppose so," Sigil stared at his claws briefly before clumsily standing up, leave-woven blankets and other fabrics falling from him.

- - - >

It was busy, rather busy and there were so many festivities, so much spirit, and yet Sigilius met the surroundings with a dull look as he was escorted about by his two guards. They all knew who he was, and this was a problem to him, for some reason, he felt restrained from enjoying the occasion. He noted, though, how many were here – those from even the Banished Lands, or even those who worshipped Deities, what a great diversity 'unified'. Of course, one could also catch wind of the whispers about how the lands are dying, how they fear the sea my dry up and so forth.

He breathed in the energy of his surroundings, and listened as his guards grumbled towards other dragons or even to each other, and themselves. He mumbled some things to diplomats who passed by, but otherwise he did not do much. He felt like he was a hatchling and that the guards were there to make sure that everything was “hatchling-safe” -- what could possibly happen, though? There have been no reports of anything awful happening at the Mask Festival yet, and it was so very tightly controlled, despite its lax environment.

Oh, his mask... he wore it, but the guards were a dead giveaway to his identity per usual. It was a simple mask, made out of charred root and laced with a few blue feathers that matched his necklace.

Slowly, he peeled away from the guards as they were too busy keeping some dragons away from him, and dissipated into the crowd. Finally, he was away from them and could truly enjoy this great festival. His eyes gleamed as he saw what others wore, but there were whispers already starting about him, and he narrowed his eyes at almost every mention of him.

He couldn't wait to watch the art performances.

"Go the festival, they said..." Midna muttered to herself, "It will be fun, they said..."

Midna growled and held her pearl close to her body with her tail, the crowd seemingly unaware of her existence as random dragons continued to cut her off wherever she tried to walk. It hadn't taken long for her to be separated from Link and Epona, and she had been trying to find the blasted mirror and her bottomless pit of a familiar for what seemed like an eternity.

"Why... Why did I let her talk me into this?" Midna continued to complain, struggling to move around, "I would rather be back at our lair staring at the wall. Would've been a more productive use of my time than this. Ugh..." Finally, she forced her way out of the crowd and stopped to rest, but didn't let her grip on her pearl loosen one bit.

"Midna!" so came a voice that made Midna feel relieved and angry all at the same time, "Where have you been?"

"...I've been places..." Midna replied as Link and Epona came into view. Predictably, Link was giving Midna a wide grin that just looked creepy (to Midna). Epona was sticking her face in Link's bags and eating all plants she could find, but the mirror remained blissfully unaware of this fact. Midna just blinked and decided to ignore the black dwarf unicorn.

"Come on, the art performances are gonna start soon!" Link exclaimed, unusually talkative (a fact that made Midna even more annoyed). Epona took a brief moment to nod in agreement, then went back to making more food disappear.

"Fine, fine..." Midna said with a sigh, "Let's head over there... Not like I have anything better to do, anyway..." Link's grin grew wider and she promptly ran off to where the art performances would take place, Epona looking surprised as her source of food had suddenly vanished. She looked at Midna and stared, then pursued Link. Midna ran after them both, not wanting to get lost again, but she couldn't shake the feeling that something wasn't right.

"You're overthinking things, Midna..." she reminded herself, and she pushed such things to the back of her mind. She really did need to lighten up a little...

OOC: Okay, 2nd character finished! Old, useless posts deleted. Now, here we go! (Sorry it's short and there's not too much detail to it.) ...

Rhamus glanced back at the sappy structure alongside the large tree. He hated to leave like this, but he really wanted to go to the festival. It celebrated unity, bringing everyone together, and that was something he just had to see for himself! He turned away, pulled the feathery mask he had fashioned down over his face, and started off toward Altera. He couldn't wait to join the fun! And most importantly, see the unified dragons together as one.

-----------------

Nyssa wandered the crowded streets. She normally wasn't one for festivals, but she'd needed a break from her tiring work of blacksmithing. Being in Altera again reminded her of days long gone, when she had come with her parents to start a new life. It was a good life... but it was short lived. Now her parents were gone... She shut her eyes, pushing the thoughts from her mind as she walked on. She glanced around at the many dragons surrounding her, all with different colored eyes and of different breeds. Seeing so many dragons in one place tempted her to pick up her old ways and resort to thievery. It would be better than returning to the back-breaking blacksmithing business. No, I've given that up. Honest work is so much better than thieving and pick-pocketing. But why she had given it up, she still wasn't quite sure. Why was honest work better, when now she stood in such an easy, rich field of money and wealth. No work required. After all, wasn't life just about surviving, any way one could. Wasn't that the life she'd chosen to lead? She sighed. Sometimes she didn't understand what went on in her own head. But then, she'd never really understood anything about herself since her parents died. Why did her thoughts always go back to her parents? Shaking her head, she turned her thoughts to the dragons about her again. The thoughts of thievery returned, but she resisted the urge. Still, she walked with a cautious step, keeping her eyes open for any who might have the same idea. Not that she had an awful lot for anyone to take from her. Still, what she had, she needed. Actually, she could do with some more. She stopped, closing her eyes, trying to reassure herself that everything would be alright. She didn't need to steal anything from anyone. What she needed was a distraction, something to get her mind off her life, and especially off of her parents. Just then she heard a shout, "The art performances are about to start!" The voice sounded happy and full of excitement. Nyssa lifted her head and turned to easily find the young dragon the voice belonged to. Watching she and her friends hurry into the crowd, Nyssa wandered in that direction. Maybe an art performance was just the distraction she needed...

also sorry about my terrible writing, i haven't rped for ages man so yeeaaahhh and will try to make next posts longer

Zecnido tried to make a path through the crowd, barely able to move an inch with the numerous dragons surrounding her. Finally achieving her goal, she let out a sigh of relief as she reached a patch of space where she could finally sort out what to do in this damn place, with a moment of realization, she turned to the direction of the art performance's. She was just about to head off when a Pearlcatcher dragon barged out of the crowd and fell over next to Zecnido.

"I see you're having problems with the crowd too, Heather" the Skydancer grinned widely.
"Damn right I am" Heather responded hostilely.

Heather slowly managed to get up, she glared at Zecnido coldly and looked out to the crowd, her look of anger turning to worry.
"How are we supposed to get through this?" Heather turned to Zecnido.
"Don't ask me, though, I was planning on going to the art performance's area, it seems to be the easiest thing to get through, wanna join me?" Zecnido asked.
"Eh, art really isn't my thing, too... boring, but, oh well, why not?" Heather shrugged, there wasn't much of an option here.
"Okay, on the count of three lets push through that damn crowd" the two dragons prepared themselves.
"one....two.... THREE!"
The pair ran into the crowd and shoved their way through, keeping up a steady pace, until finally, they had reached their destination.

The festival's activity had almost certainly reached a peak. Through the thickness of the crowds, two guards of the Elastrean royal family were making their way towards the art performance, beginning to drive the crowd members to the sides in order to create a parting through which they would bring their queen.

Polaris spent the entire time adjusting the mask on her face. It was nothing too large or boastful, but still it was pretty, well-made and eye-catching, as the mauve gemstones embedded neatly into it would occasionally catch the light and glint one-by-one, reminiscent of early morning sunlight through the crystals of her home city. Polaris herself was perched on the back of a large, furry white animal, equally decorated with ornate gems and a fine amethyst-coloured saddle, in order to give the tiny queen some height and majesty. Beside the queen, lazily draped over their mount's saddle, was her beloved psywurm. He had been thoroughly bathed, and his fluff had been brushed into perfect shape, so even if he lacked a regal posture right now, he managed to still look like the companion of a royal.

Ever since she was a hatchling, since the very first faire and through every festival she had ever been to, Polaris had learned that looking good was vital. She could never forget her mothers words of warning: that should she fault in any way, be it a striking flaw in her appearance or a spoken word misinterpreted and taken offensively, the public could have reason to dislike her, and one negative aspect could multiply into a wall of hatred in their minds. Thankfully, Polaris had not inherited her dear mother's paranoia quite so strongly, but the concern was still there- any one thing out of shape and they might begin to question her as a queen.

"We are almost at the performance, your majesty. We must apologise for the delay." One of the guards informed Polaris, in the formal tone that they all had to force themselves to use when in her presence.
"Thank you. I am to assume there has been no trouble?"
"None so far, my lady. It is only the large number of visitors who are obstructing our route."
"Thank you." She dropped the conversation and allowed her bodyguard to continue his duty without distraction. In all the years she had been visiting these sorts of things, there was always something that went wrong. Be it a thief among the crowd, a firework set loose along the road, a drastic mistake made in preparation for a performance. Never anything truly serious but a waste of time to sort out.

Gaia clutched the papers in her tail as she finally approached the festival. The journey had taken over a day... On foot, as Gaia couldn't fly. "Okay... Where are the market booths..." She looked to and fro, trying to find the stalls. Her and her friend, a Fae named Reef, had decided to sell some of his writings. The Fae was a... Young author, you could say. His writing was his pride and joy, but both of them needed money, and that was hard to come by in Near without any form of law-breaking. Gaia decided she would journey to the festival to make some cash with the games and sell Reef's writings. "Oh! There they are!" As she was just taking off a Snapper stopped her.
"Got a mask?"
"Hmm?"
"Lady, you're gonna be needin' a mask if you're considerin' playin' the games."
Well..." Gaia sighed. She needed money... But she guessed even that came at a price.
"I'm sellin' some here if you'd like."
"Woah!! They're pricey!"
"Well they certainly ain't cheap. Pick one, I've got a crowd." The Snapper gestured with a wing towards a line of dragons.
"Um... Here. I'll take this one. Now how much again? Here!" She fumbled with her cash before slapping some down, grabbing the mask in her teeth and running off.
"Hey!!" The Snapper growled at her as she darted away into the crowd. "You'll pay!!" He clenched his teeth, mumbling to himself. "Fine fine, who's next?"

A dragon was sneaking through the shadows, avoiding everyone on her way to the festival. She finds a mask in the brush, and decides she'll use it to get in easily. She uses her quick intellect to think of ways to sneak past the gates, and then she performs one of her amazing plans she just thought of to get in.

Another dragon put on his prized mask, got his tickets to the festival, and then went into the festival. Suddenly, another dragon sneaked past him. He thinks to himself, "Well, I must be seeing things." He then wanders around a bit and notices it again. He still thinks it's nothing, and just continues wandering around. He notices her again, and decides something's up, and decides to chase after it the next time. So, the next time, he did chase after her. Eventually, they both stopped at the edge of the fair.
"Do you want something from me?" She snaps at him.
"No, I'm just wondering what's going on, as I kept seeing someone sneak past me again and again."
"Well, it's kind of a long story."
"I have the time," he quickly responds.
"Fine," she tells him a little about it. "So you see, I have to stay in hiding a little."
"That seems reasonable," he responds, and then introduces himself. "The name's Rorrim."
"My name is Zera," she answers.
They then set off through the festival together.

She could hear them whispering to her constantly - the Shade was a being of many beings, and they had been torn apart for many years, by those Deities who now grew weak due to the foolish lack of belief in them. It was time, and their voices were driving her absolutely insane, they only got louder and louder as they told her all that she needed to do, all the wrongs that she needed to commit.

She walked throughout the crowds, and saw all their faces - all the celebration, all the joy and unity, and she felt... pained. She felt regretful, she wondered how many others who had aligned with the Shade were here, or would be aligned. She had already killed so many in the name of the Shade, which she had always worshipped - but today, it all came crashing down, the reality of giving her body out as some kind of vessel. There was no pride in that, yes? She was just a tool...

"It is time," said a voice within her mind, the inky darkness that had chosen her.

She paused, for what seemed like a rather long time. She froze in the middle of the crowd, and got bumped against and pushed around. The art performances were about to begin.

She dug her claws into the ground. "I refuse you," she said, firmly, "I refuse you."

A thousand needles seemed to pierce her, as she collapsed to the ground. She felt the darkness wrap around her eyes, and she felt it - the dark tears falling down from her eyes, adsorbing into the ground, as she rebelled against the attempt to take her over. She knew she was dying. They were killing her for rebelling... at least the Deities never did that, at least they allowed their creations to roam around and have free will - the Shade is such an ancient entity few could even understand...

She kept repeating that she refused them, hoping that it would bring attention (it did) and help her fight the Shade (it didn't). She would perhaps be one of the first to rebel against the Shade after devoting her life to them...or perhaps she would be the last...

"I refuse you, I refuse you, I do not want this any longer...I-I'm not-,"
was the final thing she would ever say, and the first spoken words relating to the war to come. The medical dragon was too late, obviously, as they rushed through the crowd.

The ground shattered, a large sound as if a massive plane of glass was broken - a sound earth should not make.

Tendrils of darkness shot out, like spears. The "spears" had substance, as they were pieces of a massive and powerful entity, and they were ravenous, seeking dragons to target and destroy.

There is mass panic.

Autumn slowly crept forwards, keeping low to the ground. She yanked her hood down as far as she could, she didn't want to be identified. Slowly approaching the Tundra, her goggles helped her focus her vision on the satchel that was loosely slung across the dragons shoulder. She approached the side of the dragon, unnoticed. She stood to her full height, trying to look as casual as possible, and she slid her claws forward and reached for the old, worn leather bag. At that moment, the crowd seemed to tangle, as a mass of panic filled the area. Autumn hesitated and gave a quick yelp, and the Tundra heard her and turned to face her. Before he could say anything, they were yanked away from each other as the swirling panic of the dragons came around them. The Pearlcatcher called Asha, who had been obediently waiting by one of the stands. Asha tried to go to her master, but was kicked and dragged through the crowd. With an outraged cry, Autumn lurched forward, deeper into the crowd. "Asha! Asha! Where are you? Asha! Asha come!" Her panicked cries were drown out by the thundering of feet on the floor, and the loud beats of wings. "ASHA!" She gave one last, desperate cry as she was knocked to the ground. She couldn't stand up in time, and was being trampled by the dragons in panic. Her struggled cries and attempts to stand up from under the others were left unnoticed, as more and more dragons fled the area. Autumn's head smashed into the ground, and she was certain that Asha had been trampled to death. "It's all my fault..." She thought. She was preparing another burst of energy to attempt to stand up, from the dragons that were crushing her and trampling her; when a dragon had attempted to go over her, but tripped and fell on top of her. She gave a furious scream and glared at the dragon who had fallen on her. "What do you think you're doing? GET OFF."

~~~~
Mako was scanning the crowd, deep in thought. His eyes were clouded from lack of sleep, and he was prepared to just leave the celebration, and find somewhere else to find money. He needed money because he needed food. "I've stolen many things before, why can't I steal anything here? It's no different from all the other places. Well, except all the authorities, royalty, thugs... Maybe this isn't such a good idea." He sighed and prepared to leave the celebration empty-clawed, when there was a shriek, and sudden mass panic. Mako's eyes widened as dragons fled in all directions. "What's going on?" He asked the nearest dragon. He has to raise his voice because of all the noise. The dragon simply ignored him, and fled with the others. He fought against the crowd of fleeing dragons, expertly weaving through gaps and spaces between dragons as he came closer and closer to the source of the panic. However, he never made it. He was body-slammed by a large Guardian, and was sent flying across the crowd, slamming into other dragons and causing a domino effect. Several of the dragons used some very colorful language as they regained balance and continued the desperate race to safety. Mako couldn't help but follow. He made great distance, half running, half being pushed along the path with the crowd. The entire trek he thought of what the source of fear could be. He was quickly snapped out of his thoughts by a dragon that was laying on the ground. It appeared that it was trying to stand, but couldn't because of all the dragons on top of it. He tried to gracefully glide over her, but to no avail. His front leg slammed into her back, and he sprawled forwards, face planting into the ground. He let out a startled gasp as the Pearlcatcher jerked her neck forwards and glared at him. If looks could kill, he'd be dead. The dragons glare seemed as cold as ice, as it's face was hidden back behind a black hood. "What do you think you're doing? GET OFF." The dragon screeched as she violently tried to throw him off her. He scrambled to stand. "I—I'm sorry, I didn't mean to—" Mako tripped again, and fell to the side, as the Pearlcatcher thrust herself upwards, and was able to stand up into the crowd once more. She outstretched a claw, and offered to help him up. He accepted the offer, and was surprised by her strength as she yanked him to his feet. "Thanks." Mako breathed, the wind had been knocked out of him, and he was in a state of shock.
The sound of screaming had woken Theodore up. He had barely opened his drowsy eyes before he shot into a defensive position, his back arched, the fur on his neck standing up, and a threatening hiss emitted from the back of the psywurm's throat.
Normally, Polaris wouldn't have been too concerned about the sound of screaming. At these sort of things there was always someone screeching their heart out over ever tiny incident. But her dear Todd's behaviour was what alarmed her. He was never discontented, always relaxed. He could sleep through a firework display, so a bit of screaming was nothing to him. And yet he was clearly in a state of panic, staring down the street ahead. The noise was building up, as more and more voices joined the chorus of terrified cries.
Ahead of them, the guards were stopping. Polaris began to hear what they were saying: "evacuate the queen! Get her out of here now!" The creature she was mounted on was now distressed, perhaps by the oncoming crowd or perhaps because it sensed that something was very wrong. The royal guards forced the animal to turn around, and prodded its sides until it began to sprint, carrying Polaris and Todd at speed away from whatever was down there. The queen still didn't know what was happening, why everyone had become so alarmed, but as her mount bolted away she didn't manage to grasp the attention of any of her guards despite her best efforts. She continued to sit tall, shoulders back and head held high, but he tiny heart was pounding.
"Sheesh! Who rained on his parade?" Gaia mumbled through her mask as she ran through the crowds to an empty market stall. "Okay, gotta get this on..." She was fumbling with the mask and its strange straps and such to tie it on when a scream erupted. Dozens of paws crashed through the stands and paths, kicking everything aside as they dashed for safety. "Ahh!!" Gaia ducked as some dragons took off above her. She covered her head with her paws as they flew with their hind feet dangling beneath them, especially the Wildclaws. Staying low to the ground, she slunk through the mass of fleeing dragons and climbed atop a taller stand, trying to get a good look at what they were running from. But she couldn't see anything... "Hey!! You! You think you can slap down some coins and go? Weeell, that ain't be how it works." The Snapper from earlier glared at her, spreading his wings. "Don't make me get you, you littl-" He was cut off by a large Imperial zooming straight above him, it's wings so massive their power sliced the air. "Oof!" He fell to the ground, trampled by exiting dragons. "Phew!" Gaia sighed with relief. She dashed past the fallen Snapper and out of the massive crowd, and into the area around the festival. Many dragons were flying overhead as she looked at thee fallen faire. Ripped banners streaked the ground, and the lively music and peaceful chatter had disappeared. The practice that must've been put into the art performances, put to waste. She sighed. She had traveled so far for nothing. No cash. And she still didn't know what really happened to cause the panic...
Venturing through the horde of dragons, Aeos was determined to find the stage where the art performances were about to be held. Before she could take out the map that was given to the festival's attendees, she was shoved rudely to the side by a speeding Mirror, who's four magenta eyes pulsated in terror as she darted away, as though she were running for her life. "Maybe she was," murmured Aeos to herself as she turned her head away, only to get pushed again.
Suddenly, the bewildered Wildclaw found herself caught in the middle of a raging river of fleeing dragons, of all races and of all sizes. "What's going on?" breathed Arcus, who was visibly starting to get motion sickness from all the rocking back and forth while on Aeos' back. Aeos, trying to balance herself in the crowd of terrified dragons, looked up to the sky. While there were still many dragons who had decided to take to the air, her keen eyes caught a glimpse of something extroardinary behind the flight of dragons.
Like a shooting star, it pierced through the sky as if it were a spear. Unlike a shooting star, it bore the flat color of darkness. It curled and spiraled around like it was performing some sort of twisted dance of death. And maybe that's what it was.
Without so much as a warning, Aeos shot away, ignoring her familiar's cries for her to stop. Swiftly maneuvering her way through the crowd, she leaped onto the biggest stand that she could find, though it had fallen during the mass panic. As she stood on the fallen stand, dragons rushing and pouring around, while Arcus shivered and clinged tightly to the base of her neck, Aeos knew that this day was not going to go so well after all.
This wasn't scheduled to happen.
Moments ago, Arisen was simply trying to purchase a suitable mask for the festival. Now, Arisen was simply trying to survive the massive stampede that was currently occurring. While dragons who had merely come to enjoy the festival shoved against him, pushed him around, and stepped on his toes and tripped over his tail as they ran for their precious lives, the Pearlcatcher barked orders to the guards left and right. "Stand down!" "Get up!" "Over there!" "Where do you think you're running off to!?"
The air seemed thicker than normal. With each passing second, it was getting increasingly difficult to breathe. Arisen nearly slipped on a tattered banner reading "Mask Festival". Dragons that were on the ground were rushing and trampling over each other - the poor Faes didn't stand a chance. In the air, the unfortunate fliers were sent crashing and tumbling down to land.
As Arisen anxiously watched the ensuing chaos, hopelessly trying to keep control, he wondered what was happening to his dear Altera.
Midna just knew something would go wrong.
Of all times for her to be right.
"Link, where are you going?!" Midna screamed as she saw Link running against the fleeing crowd, "Whatever is back there, I don't think we need to see it!" However, she found her words fell on deaf ears, as Link and Epona swiftly ran through the crowd, trying to avoid being trampled as they did so.
Realizing they weren't going to listen, Midna growled and ran after them, only for a few dragons to crash into her and shove her off to the side, her pearl escaping her grasp. She let out a cry of surprise and scrambled to her feet, trying to retrieve her pearl, only for it to roll away from her. She gritted her teeth and charged through the crowd, finally pouncing on the pearl and surrounding it with her body, feeling a dull ache in her left wing.
Link and Epona were long gone, but Midna sighed and continued her pursuit of them anyway. Whatever mess they got themselves in, surely they would end up needing her help. She held her pearl even closer to her body to make sure she didn't lose it again, fighting her way through the crowd that threatened to either take her with them or just trample her.
"Go the festival, they said..." Midna growled, as she narrowly avoided being run over by a guardian and then a skydancer, "It will be fun, they said..."
Nyssa made her way through the crowd, hoping the art performances would be a decent distraction. Out of the corner of her eye, she saw a dragon stop among all the others, digging her claws into the ground. She just stood there, not moving, letting herself be bumped and shoved by all the passing dragons. Nyssa kept walking, shaking the strange sight from her mind. Then she heard it... "I refuse you..." She turned back. It was the same dragon. She repeated the words. Nyssa stopped now, as well, watching the dragon, wondering what she was talking about. Her body seemed rigid, then suddenly collapsed to the ground. Nyssa's eyes went wide and she started forward, wanting to help. Stopping herself, she turned away, not wanting to get involved. Getting involved in other dragons' business usually ended in problems she didn't need. She knew that from experience. She barley got two steps before the words rang out again, over and over, like some sort of declaration. Nyssa couldn't help but turn back. Dark tears fell from the dragons' eyes and absorbed into the ground. What was going on? Now she couldn't pry her eyes away even if she wanted to. "I refuse you, I refuse you, I do not want this any longer...I-I'm not-," the dragon continued, and then her words were cut off. Nyssa turned her head, looking away. She knew the dragon was dead. She jumped at the sound of something shattering and glanced down, feeling the ground shake beneath her feet. It was shattered, there were the dragon had been. Gasping, she stumbled back, her mind reeling with what she was witnessing. Suddenly tendrils of some dark mass shot out, like spears, disappearing into the crowds of dragons. Nyssa watched them dart through the crowd, leaping to the side as one shot past her. Something very strange was going on here, and she wanted suddenly to know what it was. The dead dragon's words hung in her head... "I refuse you..." Who was she refusing? And who was behind all of this? Even as the dragons around her stormed away in fear and panic, Nyssa remained where she was, rooted to the spot, her eyes searching the crowd and following the black spears as they darted to and fro. She had wanted a distraction, and she had certainly gotten one.
-----------------------
Rhamus reached the entrance to the festival, his spirits high with excitement. He was just ready to enter when he was greeted by screams. Suddenly a mass of dragons darted out from within, fear and panic on their faces. He leaped to the side, gasping in fear of being trampled. He watched as the dragons darted off in all directions. This certainly wasn't what he'd been expecting. The dragons were unified alright, but they were unified in... fear. Glancing to the festival grounds, he wondered what could have caused it.
Zecnido was frozen in shock, she couldn't believe what she had just seen.
"Zecnido damnit, we gotta move" Heather yelled against the sounds of panic that filled the air.
Members of the crowd pushed against the Skydancer until she was getting dragged with the crowd.
"ZECNIDO!" Heather yelled again, herself battling against the vast number of dragons rushing to try and get out of there.
Zecnido finally snapped out of her trance but it was too late, she couldn't stop as the dragons rushing against her and pulling her along with them continued their desperate fight to avoid whatever that thing was.
Heather gave up and ran with the crowd, trying not to lose sight of Zecnido who still attempted to struggle through.
OOC: I have to agree. The post order was alright at the very beginning, but now it's slowing everyone down. I think you guys should just continue the RP without the post order from now on. And your characters can separate from other people's characters (not all, of course). Not all characters must be at the same time and place for the entire time of the RP.
So whoever wants to post now, regardless of the post order, go ahead~
