No. But people say it is a lot at my school. We now have to call black colored pencils "African American" colored pencils to avoid being yelled at.

No, I don't think so. But I wouldn't say to call other ethnic groups by stereotyped skin colors. Do not ever call a Native America/American Indian a red skin, or someone from Asian descent yellow. Don't ever do that.

African American had to be stopped being used because not everyone that is darker skinned is even African, or even American.

I think that using the term "race" between different looking people is wrong. Isn't it a fact that people share too much genetic features between each other to be even concidered to be that different of a kind? I have heard this from various studies that have been conducted a long time ago.

Calling someone black isn't racist. It's just the truth. If someone called me white, which is also the truth, I wouldn't be freaking out and calling someone racist. It is what it is. I mean, what are you supposed to say? That dark-skinned person? That sounds just as "racist" to me. Just ignore the people who are calling you that. They're just being stupid.

No but I used to be paranoid about it and so I would say "African-American".

By that logic though, I would have to call white people Caucasian, or any nationality they may have, which is pointless.

on one hand, you could say it in an offensive way. in that case, it may be considered racist by some and not by others.

on the other hand, calling the statement 'someone is black' racist is the same as calling the statement 'someone is a boy' sexist.
