Skylanders lost Islands just updated with version 1.7.0 and introduced all wave 1 swap force characters into the game for those of you that have the mobile portal of power from the battlegrounds starter pack, DO NOT! I repeat, DO NOT USE THE PORTAL FOR ANY NEW BLUE BASE CHARACTERS OR ELSE YOUR CHARACTERS WILL CONSTANTLY RESET IN SKYLANDERS SWAP FORCE! After all that happened only four characters still work but they came in multi-packs so like all the gliched characters I have to try and return them. So at the moment I don't have any new skylanders introduce with swap force to play with but I don't want anyone to have to deal with what I had to and I blame everything that happened with my characters on vicarious for not running some tests on how the mobile portal of power would react with any new blue base skylanders.

So wait, not only is it resetting the characters, but it is also ruining them? Like, you're not only losing any leveling up you've done, but now they're not working at all? Not just starting at square one again??

I only tested whether or not my figures had been reset to default. Now I need to go back and see if they've been permanently groundhog dayed?

Yeah because I have not played Dwap Force yet, hence no upgrades or anything to worry about, I went ahead and scanned mine in. Figured best to do it before I use them on the Xbox. I hope they're not all fried now!!

You can play as the characters but it's like you just unboxed them and put them on the portal with no work done to them for the first time ever and and you get to experience that feeling everytime they are removed from the portal . It's just, ... To sum it up they reset back to square one everytime they are removed from the portal so theirs no point to even use them anymore.

As far as I have seen it just resets them to level 1 after you use them with skylanders lost islands (I have been able to level them back up and have them work).

I don't know if it makes a difference but which console are you guys using?

Mine is the PS3.

I have tried about 10 of mine that I used on the iOS portal (all reset to level 1) and all are working fine after re-leveling them they hold there level. Playing on both Wii U and 3DS.

Do they still keep any money they pick up because mine don't that's how I figured out that they reset every time.

So you're saying that your Skylanders reset every time you remove them from the portal on the console? Are you using the new Swap Force portal or the old one? I'm wondering if it's an issue with Lost Islands or using the old portal. It would make sense that the new Skylanders chips are a bit different and the old portals have a communication issue and reset them. If that's the case, then people can't just buy the new ones to use on the old games (without having the new portal). BTW, does the new portal work on the old games?

Yes mine can save money. you know that you have to leave them on the portal for like a min for them to save the money.

Let me try leaving them on the portal for a minute then and see if they still work so that way I don't have to go an return them all.

Thank you for the advice Darkrai848 my skylanders still work, I was just removing them from the portal after they got 1 gold and their is an issue where some gold is taken from a skylander when they are removed from the portal, I tried it with my series 2 stealth elf and she lost 50 gold but the point is they level and still keep gold so if they were reset to the beginning but still work I'm fine with that I just need to play with them for a little bit to make up their progress in the game.

Things done in game are "Cached" for a little while to reduce the number of writes to the figure.
You should never yank the figure right after doing something or you risk losing whatever it was.

It's the same as windows caching disk writes, if you lose power or disconnect you lose data.

What I noticed is that they don't auto save any coins when they're collected. So what I've been doing is switching hats every so often. It's an odd bug that they will only autosave when you level up or upgrade.
