I'm not sure if you are talking about which S3 will be hard to get or which S2 will become obscure. So I'll share my theories on both.

Buying S3 Skylanders:

To me the smartest thing to do first, *if you've been collecting for a while*, is to focus on Newlanders / Swap Force figures, and on your own personal characters. Pay attention to special characters like Nitro Magna Charge, Enchanted Hoot Loop, and TRU Legendaries if you enjoy getting the unique versions of things. (Not going to talk about chasers or w/e because that's not my area of expertise.) Saving up and trying to get new figures as each wave is released tends to be a good idea. I went and checked for the Nitro Magna Charge packs and Enchanted Hoot Loop and both are available (via Target and WalMart, respectively) for pre-order on their *US* websites. (We Canadians will need to use our dialing fingers on launch day, unfortunately.)

Filling In S2 / S1 Gaps In A Collection:

Figures that have only had one mainstream versions are the ones you likely want to try and grab locally *NOW* to save yourself a headache later. Characters that are not part of the new waves are going to become more difficult to find, so if you are missing giants, or S1 / S2 one-time print characters (stuff like Ghost Roster, Dino Rang, Voodood or Boomer from S1, for example.) I can't recall--and at 5: something AM I'm too lazy--to look up which S2 figures have only had one mainstream print. (Meaning I'm not counting their variables and they aren't getting an S3 repose.) Those are the figures that are going to have you ripping your hair out six months from now.

Anyway, I hope this is helpful. smilie Happy collecting!

I think the first characters that will become scarce during launch are Countdown and Roller Brawl. They are they only new core figures that are only available in single packs, so you don't have the flexibility of finding them in 3 packs like you do Zoo Lou and Slobber Tooth. They'll eventually become easily available, but probably not for weeks/months after launch.

For Swap Force characters I'd try to get Enchanted Hoot Loop, Legendary Free Ranger and one of the Nitro Magna Charge 2 packs just to be safe as store exclusives can sometimes sell out and not have new stock for a while if ever again. All the other Swap Force wave 1 characters except for normal Hoot Loop and Magna Charge are available in multiple ways, so those two would be the next ones to try and get if you're planning to eventually own them all.

Lightcore figures are a gamble. No real way to tell if they will sell out or stay on the pegs. I think Lightcore Smolderdash will sell quickly, followed by Legendary Grim Creeper (since he's exclusive), Star Strike and probably Warnado since he wasn't in Giants. Star Strike will be released as a core in Wave 2, so even if it sells out you have another chance to get it soon. I wouldn't be surprised if Lightcore Flashwing stays on the pegs for a while, as the Giants version is still easily available everywhere and everyone that wanted one already has it.

none of them.

RIP GhostRoaster. He's reanimated as TakeYourLemons but occasionally is resurrected from the beyond when needed.
