I know that this has been covered before but I am confused.

I thought that some people said you can still use them with Activate and others said you can't.

The problem is this, if we can't use the codes how do we get our Swap Force characters onto the iPads?

There is no sign of a portal for them.

Yeah I don't know how the portal issue will work. Since Activate the codes that come with the characters will only work on one game so I assume Swapforce will be the same. That just makes it hard here with 3 players.

You can use codes but there is a debate if the codes can be used more than one time. I believe the existing BT portal will work with Swap Force. The console portal is getting a make over.

I've been able to use the codes for at least 3 times to put the skylanders into mine and the boys game. I first put them into my game about 2 months ago. And 3 weeks later I put them into the older boy's game. And then 2 weeks later I put them into the other boy's game.

I've also managed to put the 3 new skylanders we purchased into all our games, one after another with no problem.

Do note that I did this before the BIG buggy update. I haven't tried since we updated.

I did call Activision support -- cause of all the problems I was having with cloud saves -- and also asked them how many times the codes can be used, and was told only once.

It doesn't hurt to try and see if you can enter them more than once.

We have the BT portal so we are set.

Pity there is no excuse to buy both the dark and normal starter packs now.

I am sure the normal figures will be released at some stage.

Oh does anyone know is the console makeover purely cosmetic or is there something missing in the electronics?

There is the possibility of a 3DS in the near future, with the starter packs so cheap ATM is it worth picking one up or won't it work with Swap Force?

The codes were only able to be used once per game (i.e. Lost Island, Cloud Patrol, Battlegrounds). I know this because my wife had a lot of them entered into her game. I tried entering them into mine with no luck. A few weeks ago, however, I came across a code that had somehow gotten separated from the rest. I decided to enter it in on a whim and it worked. I pulled them all out and they all worked. So it seems like they changed that rule, although, I'm still not sure of the limit (if there is one). That really makes me happy after my wife deleted her game and has thought about starting over instead of continuing the game she already has, thus making all the codes she used just wasted. I'm still not sure that's a good idea for her, even though she feels like she could start over and do better.

As for the Swap Force portal, there is a difference in electronics, so none of the previous portals will work with Swap Force characters. I'm not sure if that's only for the Swappable characters or all of them, though. But it does make sense that there had to be a change for, at least, the Swappable characters in order to read both pieces. Since there doesn't seem to be any plans for a BT Swap Force portal, maybe that's why they opened up the limit on codes.

I definitely know they needed a wider portal to get 2 of the swappers on at the same time. I think I may have read they needed to change the portal to provide more power so they could detect the top half of the swapper but I can't find where I read it.

In the future second hand Swap Force characters will only be limited use without their codes. Games shops and on line sellers will have a harder time selling them. It will make those with codes that much more expensive.
