I really want the "Dark Edition" for the PS3 , however a month later the Swap Force comes out the same day as PS4..
Are any of you double dipping? Or do you plan to buy the PS4 version and sell of the Portal and game for the PS3 version?
I really don't know what to do.. Thoughts? Suggestions? Wish there was an upgrade program..

I'm getting doubles of anything that doesn't switch paths, anyway.
So I may as well buy Darkstarter twice, since I think it will be worth just getting that for the three darks I need and selling my useless S3 doubles rather than having to order a set from eBay: I'll be getting it on WII, since I'm curious to see how that version is different and doubling on the Dark gives me an excuse to buy it too, and I'll get it for the 360 because that's the console in our main living room, giving me oppurtunity to play the game more often and easily. I wanted the Dark Edition for the Wii U, because that's my preferred console, but of course they don't sell it here. >.> So I'll be getting the regular edition of the starter pack for my Wii U. I'll just grab loose Blast Zone/Wash Buckler doubles on eBay because that will be much cheaper and doesn't leave me with a useless extra copy, a fourth portal, and another Stealth Elf. But, unless you're really impatient, I would suggest... a) wait until PS4 version is out and play that as your first version, avoid spoilers b) get PS3 version, play, wait until you can get PS4 version dirt cheap (SA is only $14 at Target now here, yay, we got a good sale for once! )

I'm planning to buy the PS4 (or possibly WiiU version) down the road, to acquire a regular Wash Buckler and Blast Zone. I've got 2 x Ps3 Dark Starter and a 3DS starter, as we've got two players in this house. Luckily, we also want two Nitro Magna Charge so the extra Free Ranger and Rattle Shake will go to the second player.

I am not double dipping. PS3 only. I'm waiting on PS4 once it has some time in the field to determine if the hardware is good, performs well, doesnt have issues etc. I usually wait for a hardware re-design / streamline model before I jump onto a new platform.

RIP GhostRoaster. He's reanimated as TakeYourLemons but occasionally is resurrected from the beyond when needed. |

I'm holding off on next gen, for now. Really nothing blows my socks off. My wife is really interested in XBoX Fitness (only on XBONE), she is a big fan of Tony Horton and Shaun T. However, until things I want shift over I'll stick with XB360, PS3 and WiiU.
The base platform for Skylanders this time as I recall is the 360, instead of the Wii. That explains the increase in graphical fidelity. I would expect few differences between the PS3 vs. the PS4, except for the up-scaled resolution. Doing much more than that would require significantly more development effort for the limited install base of a new system (and a game that comes out a month later). However, I am a bit stuck on overlap. I'm getting the WiiU Dark Edition. I also want the 3DS version, eventually, when the price goes down (maybe Black Friday). The 3DS pack ins also overlap in the fact I want Legendary Free Ranger and Nitro Magna Charge (I'd like to avoid duplicate variants of the same character this time, at least for now). When prices fall next year to clearance levels prior to Skylanders 4, I might fill in the others. If a single of the Swappers in the console Starter never come out, I would get the regular one for the 360 (which is what we have the previous games on currently) if I chose to go that way. In the end, if there is even a hint of you wanting to double dip, the Dark Starter is the obvious choice. At least then when you get the regular PS4 starter you at least get different variants. |

I think 'Eventually' is my answer. I bought the first version of Xbox right when it launched and turned out to be a bad move. I'm going to wait for the 2nd/revision after initial launch. Those usually have smaller, quieter, faster hardware with less issues ... and usually cheaper.

XBox One at $500 isn't going to stay like that for long. It''l be cut to compete with the PS4 within 6-9 months is my guess. You can charge a premium on a new release, but when the "down the road" crowd finally decides to step up price will be a deciding factor.
By mid next year we will have a good idea of their defect rate. Second iteration of the hardware (and resulting price drop from cheaper/more reliable components) will probably hit in a year. The game list isn't particularly compelling right now for either next gen console. A lot of upgraded games (in fact their "trade up" programs are a big thing). New, compelling titles will have had time to mature by next fall, and current gen releases will start to slow drastically. |

I watched a PS4 update video and they talked about how if you own some newer current PS3 games that will have a PS4 version as well then you can download an upgrade to the game so you can use your PS3 disk as a PS4 game. It was recent news as in sometime last week. So if they do this for Swap Force, no need to double dip!

I'm getting the dark edition for the ps3 and xbox360. I plan to buy the 3ds version down the road and possibly the xbox one and ps4 versions if i end up getting them or just to have to get the other figures.
