I'm surprised no one else has mentioned it. But is there no update, this week? Are they just gettin ready for integrating Swap Force characters or something? At least we have Super Tuesday with free gems to look forward to.

Who knows? VV is probably just a bit busy with all the Swap Force news, especially with the updated site which is being horribly flooded.

They still need to blast out Barkley and Thumpling before the big swap force update.

Speaking of which, new update is up on the app store and it's...pretty epic looking. Social improvements with new social awards including the very first Giant Alter Ego: Admiral Thumpback (Don't call him Wicked).

Edit: I think I'm going to rein this in from epic to Harlequin romance novel. With the number of Kudos required to purchase these social awards it feels punitive for those who have been playing for a long time. You get 50 Kudos for adding a new friend but it looks like you only receive 1 Kudo from each daily gift you send/receive. Admiral Thumpback is 2000 Kudos and that's a "special price". He is not available from the Wishin' Well.

I haven't upgraded yet and got the update just fine. iPhone 4s FWIW

Along the same lines I have ios 7 and don't have it.

Thumpbacks house for free!! And a new companion, Capybara King, gives you a gem per every check opened! for 150!

Well, on my sons ipad, free meant he got charged 350 gems for thumpbacks house! ouch! BIG style not cool! my account, well, free, but all my freinds list is gone! So, not cool all round! I'll try and re-add you!

Since not everyone has the update I wasn't able to go to any Kingdoms but then I remembered you can visit Aura now. You now earn Kudos when visiting other Kingdoms instead of gifts so it's not a bad system I just need to find an hour a day to visit 100 Kingdoms.

I'm not fully sure on this yet. With the old gifting system you always received a Gem as your first gift. That could be the case here where you always receive a Kudo first then it's random from then out. I hope that's not the case but I'm open to that possibility.

Uh. Be careful with this update. It sounds like people are getting rolled back left and right. I just got rolled back to a save from months ago.

Edit: Looking at it now it looks like the Activate service may be on the fritz. I'm rolled back to when Activate was first...activated but I'm not logged in. Don't know if this is a conflict because of the addition of Game Center but I won't be logging in until I hear official word.

So far I have visited about 15 islands and collected 2 gems as well as kudos so looks like you still get gems just not gold or energy.

My issue also arose after trying to visit another Kingdom so that may be the root.

I know that typically you can't win Alter Egos from the Spin to Win wheel but is Admiral Thumpback available to win from it? I don't want to dink around with my game right now since I've been rolled back to a save from April but it appeared that he was available to win.

Ok I have been able to update my ipad and iphone.

The admiral is not in the well.

Not sure how to force a cloud save anymore. I need to be able to force save when i move between my devices.

Gathering kudos from kingdoms is a pita. The new icon is not obvious.

The fixed the bugged giant houses....

Oh wow. Now I'm terrified to go back on in fear of losing my save!

So I found the update by search lost islands on the App Store. I'm scared because I've got my game in a good place in my game. I'm not on wifi right now so I can't do it right now. If we don't get Kudos credit for our current friends then I'm with Charred and we all dump each other and send new requests.

With the number of buggy updates recently, I've gotten a bit gunshy about being among the first to suffer the pain. An iTunes update rather than an in-game automatic update gives us the option to defer the update. I'm holding off on the update until I'm confident it won't cripple my game.

There is something funny going on with chompies. I had several saved in case of a timed quest. They have all despawned. There are chompy holes appearing everywhere with no mounds to be found.

Also, havent seen an elemental totem since the update.

But there are tons of despawn flashes so something is despawning faster than I can get to them.

Charred, I also noticed the disappearing chompies (8 of them!) and the lack of totem poles. I bought Cherry a couple of days ago and have become spoiled with the amount of totem poles bit I haven't seen a single one in several hours.

I haven't seen any update but maybe that is a good thing

My issue with the rolled back save has been resolved. By logging back into Activate it caused Lost Islands to find the correct save file which was on my phone the whole time according to this dialog.



Apparently the real issue is that I own over 838 million Skylanders. I put Ash Ketchum to shame.

I have had no save issues but then I have not visited any one.

Totems are still appearing and the chompies are fine.

Same here but only when connected to wifi. When I connect over 4G it works perfectly.

Save to cloud, oh your playing multiple devices, rollback to 2005? nope, I just saved to cloud! clearly no working! What happed when a child plays this who can't read clicks the wrong button!?! You cant visit most people without it crashing, I guess they're not compatable, if they haven't updated, then you dont now have an option to visit it seems, or the game is just crashed to dekstop. Thumpbacks house for free "350 gems!" thats a killer! The update really seems buggy! And I now have to explain to my child where his gems are, looking forward to that one!

portalflip, I would have gone with your cloud save where you'd managed to collect over 800 million skylander characters in a little over 13 years... I haven't updated yet, and am wondering if I'll have more kudos luck if I defriend everyone prior to updating and then refriend them afterwards.

I just bought Thumpling and there is a problem with gold reward:
45 second adventure is giving 113 gold instead of 150
If you use a "red" ballon, you get 141 instead of 188
I have Cali and the reward from Cali is correct.
Anybody else noticed this?

That's indeed bad news.
The only way to reliably switch between my two devices was by manual saving to the cloud by tapping the activate icon. And even then it failed on me once in a while.

I really hope they implemented a good auto-save option if manual save in not available any more.

It can be done, I also play Clash of Clans and have no problems whatsoever when switching devices. I'm not sure if that is an online only game though.

I found the manual save. Its in the options menu.

It is not as easy, but it is there. It also might save when you click the kudo tab at the top but it doesn't seem to do it every since time.

Yes, the button is unde the "gear" in the menu, as it used to be before.
I am bugged as the adventures are giving less gold than announced and the crops less energy than expected. Could anybody please confirm this?

Haven't checked the gold from adventures yet, but the crop payout is definitely way low!

You can still manually save to the cloud by clicking the "Save to Cloud" option in the options menu (Gear Icon).

Well....This is certainly an exciting update, both for the changes the game and the inevitable glitches. Not sure how I feel about it yet, but *if* the number of gems generated by gifts and friend visits doesn't change I think I'll like this update (so far, it feels like you get less gems than in the past, especially for visits, but the sample size is too small). The kudos make friend visits even more worthwhile. I'm not too upset that already having max friends hurts the number of bonus kudos I could earn--I already earned a gem for each friend I got (and multiple gems over time from gifts/visits). I will take the opportunity to cull my friend list a bit. I do like the streamlined gifting, but am disappointed they removed the sent/received stats, as I was using those to track who wasn't gifting much. I'll get over that, I guess.

These iTunes updates are also frustrating because you can't visit friends who haven't updated the game yet (like that selfish Woz guy, for sure). I'm sure normalcy will return in a couple of days and I'm hopeful that most people, and I in particular, will find these changes a net improvement to the experience.

Wow my game just did that scary cloud corruption that happened to Portalflip literally while I was playing.

A message popped up describing how to manually save per the Options menu (did they just push that message out?) and then the load game window popped up and tried to load the corrupted save file.

I am so glad I play on 2 different devices because the other device acts as a backup to the cloud save.

Is anybody experiencing game crashes whenever the game tries to save to the cloud? So far my game is crashing
- whenever I try use the wishing well
- when I try to do a manual save
- when I click on the kudo button

I can't even get in anymore. I logged out of Activate last night, restarted the game, logged in, and now it just loops. Gamecenter welcomes me, it gives the stupid multiple device message and asks me to pick a local or cloud save. I pick local since "Manny's iPhone" is definitely not mine. I have only played on one device. After picking local it pulls up Facebook for a second and then... Gamecenter welcomes me, lather, rince, repeat. Just for variety it sometimes crashes the app completely instead. I re-updated the game. No help. Tried without Internet. No help. Any suggestions? No reply from twitter support.

Sounds like it's good that I can't update. I can't upgrade until sometime this evening, so I was bummed that I couldn't start getting Kudos or earning the extra 25% for water Skylanders, but with all these issues going on, I'm not so bummed, and now I have to decide whether or not I even want to update, tonight.

My update is working but my son somehow entered his age wrong and the game took away his activate account. After deleting and reinstalling we finally got it working right. Don't type too fast or hit enter too quick on that age screen.

OK I just had a chompies pod disappear the instant it went to empty.

Of course this something you can not take screen shot of!

It will take me a few days. I got rid of a few non-gifting friends but will have to do this the hard way. It's OK. I'm in no rush.
