how do I make the bytes smaller. I've tried compressing it but it doesn't accept it.

What's the file type? Some image files take more bytes than others. For example, .bmp files are quite large compared to most other image files. Convert the pic to a different image file perhaps.

Oh, well, I don't know, then. Maybe the avatar just has too much in it, so it uses more bytes. Consider one that is more simple.

Ah, that might be why! Did you use MS Paint to make your avatar? If not, copy it to Paint and save it as a JPEG there. That should hopefully work. If not, remember that the max size is 100x100 and the max bytes is 20,000.

Yes; I only use .gif for animations, but those look like moving PNGs. XD

Not that I know of besides physical resizing; use PhotoBucket's edit tool to resize it.
