So the Monday update has seen the release of a house for dragon skylanders. At a cost of 1200 gems I don't think it's worth it. What do you guys think?

It's not that impressive. It has a two hour mission and there is a chance for gems or stones but I'm not sure it was worth it overall. You can buy more than one so hopefully it will end up in the wishing well.

How much does it payout? If the payouts are similar to the other Skylander houses then it is worth the price.

An effective giant house that collects every 2 hours? That's worth more than 350, I guess. I'd say I can collect a regular giant house 3x a day (first thing in the morning, middle of the day and end of the day). I could probably collect a 2 hour house 5-6 times a day. Thus if it cost 700 gems, it would probably be worth it (since I could collect it twice as much). But at 1200 it doesn't seem to have the same value as regular houses. If you have every giant house and a zillion gems, then I guess you buy it. Otherwise, I could buy 2 giant/alt/mini houses for 700 gems and collect an equivalent amount. Or buy 3 of them for 1050 gems and collect more. Let me know if I'm doing the math wrong here, but I think I'll wait for a sale or until I have every other giant/alt/mini house (which I don't) to buy this thing.

Everything has been at least 50%-75% off at some point, right? It seems like 600 would be a more realistic price.

My first payout from the lair was eight gems. So it seems to be at least as effective as a giant house in that regard. A bit too pricy for me to buy another eleven of them for the rest of the dragons though.

I don't remember any sales on giant or alternate houses. I think making them limited time releases and bringing them back periodically is as much if a sale as I remember. Have they done discounted prices before and I missed it?

That was a question. I thought we'd had holidays/Tuesdays where everything was 50% off, but maybe I am thinking of companions that have all been half off their crazy high prices. Come to think of it though I don't know if Hall of Legends have been half off and am not sure about giant's houses.

Is it? I never noticed. My second payout was circa 5400 energy so it's about the same as a giant house as well.

Experimenting does have the character selection jumping to the first available dragon, so at least that works right.

The first payout from all my houses and hall of legends have always been 5 gems. I have 3 Halls and 7 houses. The houses have always started off as 5 gems, not 8 however I am level 32 right now so maybe that has something to do with it?

Lets think about this, if the new dragon houses do give out every two hours and then EVERY dragon has the ability to be put in a house now.......I can start to see why 1200 gems. Imagine having every giant house, every hall of legends (for every legendary alt), every alt/sidekick house, and now every dragon. Pretty soon you can see how some people could make it so half the characters are in houses that do not run on crops. Giving the ability for regular skylanders to be in houses is why the dragon lair is so expensive.

And yeah I doubt this will ever be on sale. Never seen a house on sale before.

Wait, will this house end up in the vault like the giant, sidekick and alter ego houses? Or will it be in the store perminantly like the hall of legends?

My guess would be that, since you can have more than one and it's not character-specific, it will stay available like the Hall of Legends. But really, at that price does it matter much? Maybe they'll have a 75% off sale and I'll think about it.

Now that there is a quest giving a free shrine, how many people think the lair is worth it?

Well I bought one and I can say I'm a little disappointed. I thought at the very least it would pay out more gems/stones/gold on average than a typical house but it doesn't. It's nice that it's every two hours and I can pick any dragon I want but if gems are hard to come by it might be better to spend it on something that is more of a game changer (like ol mac). By the way the magic shrine quest with the dragon lair is pretty awesome since I can get my fourth Magic shrine! I guess that kind of makes up for the fact that the stump alt house didn't come with a quest this time.

I forgot you could collect more frequently so I didn't buy a dragon liar thinking the quest was impossible... I need to read more :-/

Still doesn't seem worth it unless and until you have all other skylander houses and probably all other shrines...
