Why exactly can't they just redistribute old characters in SF packaging?

Like for instance, Ghost Roaster



GF isn't getting a repose, or a LC for that matter. Plus, we know that the Adventure packs won't create new levels in Swap Force. So, you've still got some pretty cool magic items for the game too, plus you get the character out to people who are looking for them. Right now, Activision is losing money to people who are reselling the figure for hundreds of dollars on ebay. I'm sure plenty of people (especially here) would jump at the chance to get Ghost Roaster.

Same goes for other guys like Boomer. Stick some new logos on there, maybe even new art if you're feeling generous.

And really, all they'd have to do is stick a few new labels and logos on the box.
I mean, is there something I'm missing here or what?

Is that official packaging?

For initiate reaponse that idea is bad at least for activision... They will only get extra sales probably at initial stage for some customers thats been looking for it through the only possible means which is third party seller... But when they create as little as the minimum ammount in the factory there will be plenty left over swarming the shelf... And they will end up losing money... And the things that make skylanders fun is hunting for them, once u get it too easily u will less appreciate it...

And i understand this idea coming from fellow fans, but we are thinking like that only because it will benefit us not others including activision...

So its only my opinion so we could wish but we cant nag

The thing is, without opening a level that drastically lowers the value of the pack (I mean bang for your buck, not financial market value). Before you got a character, two magic items, and a whole new extra level to play, which doubles as another magic item. NOW it would be a character and three magic items, period. Not so bad when it's a legacy pack, but releasing it with the current game's logo and such is like saying it's for Swap Force, where it doesn't do much.

Re-packaging the figures would just get super confusing.

What would you do with Spyro? There are how many of him now?
If the package was the same for all figures just working out which was which and did what would be super crazy.

They made the right decision to keep the original packaging for the original figures.
It needs to be clear, if they keep selling SSA figures that it IS an SSA figure.

Not to mention certain figures have things that are associated with Giants and Swap Force and what not. So, that would get more confusing.
