I really want to get Tomb Raider. They have all but the first two games in the second hand store near me, but I can't afford all of them. Do you think I need to get the games in order to understand the story?

nope.. its pretty much a new story in each game...

The new one is pretty awesome if you can get your hands on that for a low price.

All of them beside the first two? They even have the PS1 ones? LUCKY! I need to replace one or two of mine (the first one and second one ironically)!

Anyway, not really. You might want to play The Last Revelation before Chronicles to get that story (if you're planning on playing the PS1 ones), but otherwise, I don't think so. Don't take my word for it though, I haven't played the PS2 ones besides Anniversary (and got hopelessly stuck), the remake of the first game.

EDIT: Oh yeah, and Angel of Darkness kind of confused me a bit on the little I played. I went to Stella's Tomb Raider site to help; her walkthroughs are brilliant, and she makes sense of the cutscenes if you don't understand them.

The first Tomb Raider game is the best one in my opinion.
Legend, Anniversary and Underworld can be quite enjoyable too; the sequels on the PS1 just give me a headache though.
The new Tomb Raider is pretty decent, apart from there was a glitch that was stopping me from progressing further, but that's only on the console version. And it's really hard to get pass because of it.

I have the game on the PS3.
I do live in the UK, so maybe it could be something to do with the selected region of copies?
Do you live in the UK as well?
