After 2 years, Vista is getting VERY annoying. First: Dead battery. (not really a Vista problem, but a problem nonetheless) 2nd: USB ports dead. (good part is they work again now) 3rd: Screen blacks out at random times and all I can do is turn it off. 4th: Everything is slowing down a lot.

Even though I agree, Vista isn't responsible of those problems.

Black Screen? Virus much?
Slowing down? Download crap much?

1: Is it a compact PC? (tower)
2: Does it change different solid colors every few seconds?

If both yes, then there is a problem with the cable that connects the screen with the tower. Try pluging it in again and make sure the screws are screwed tight.

No virus, I did a scan just recently, after it had started doing the black screen.
Never.

What do you mean by cable problems? My cords are fine, and we don't have cable TV.

You do realize that not all viruses and other malware are detectable by a simple scan?

It doesn't really sound like a virus to me.

Considering your computer is aging, the black screen could be due to connections becoming weak or dusty. I further believe this to be a hardware problem if you add the other problems such as the USB ports, slow down and the dead battery. Your computer may need cleaning, or may just need completely replaced soon enough. If you have anything valuable on your hard drive, or just generally things you want to keep, invest in a back up of things soon or you may lose everything.

This is kinda what I meant with Cable problems, weebbby. But that could be just part of the problem.
