Should I get a 3DS or WiiU?
I can get one as long as I pay for it.

3DS it's a lot cheaper than a lot of consoles are at the moment. And there's plenty of advantages of a 3DS.

I'd say 3DS since it's cheaper and the game library is much more expansive than the Wii Us.

Wii U, probably would work out better in the long run.
But I've always personally preferred consoles to handhelds, so I'm most likely not the best person to give you an opinion on this subject. ~ Goonro. |

Get the Wii U, it's got better graphics, though the 3ds has better games right now, you'll regret it in the future when the Wii U has loads of awesome games like Mario kart8, Smash Bros Wii U (much better than 3ds), Donkey Kong, Zelda and much more.

3DS. it has more exclusive games right now, and its cheaper.
not to say you shouldn't get a Wii U, but i'd wait until that system gets more exclusives.

Wii U if you have a DS/DS Lite/DSi/XL of one of those. 3DS if you don't. Both have A game I really want: Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon on 3DS, and my most wanted game of all: Pikmin 3 on Wii U.

If it were a year from now, I might have been able to say Wii U with a good conscience. But if you can only have one RIGHT NOW, get a 3DS. There is a great library of A+ titles out there right now, with plenty of good ones to come.
Also, this should be in Video Gaming. So I'm moving it there.

However, considering that this person can only afford to buy one console, it's likely that they can't afford many games. So the 3DS having lots of games is kind of a moot point if you can hardly buy any of them. Though, I suppose 3DS games are cheaper in stores. But then again, the Wii U's eshop tends to have lots of great sales for triple A games (I got Tekken Tag Tournament 2 for €29.99 on it). And Indie Games are quite cheap on it, and are top notch games. I suppose it really depends on the users taste in games. ...Though, if you want a really fast internet browser as a bonus, the Wii U has a snazzy browser! I really could recommend games though.

Here are some pros and cons:
3DS: Pros: Cheaper ($170 for original model, $200 for XL (larger screens)) Cheaper games (most Nintendo published games cost $35 or $40, even less if downloadable) More good games at the moment Backwards-compatible with DS games Portable Streetpass 3D graphics Nintendo Network and Miiverse coming soon Multiple colours Main-series pokémon games Has a few interesting built-in games Game Boy, Game Boy Colour and NES virtual console games Two screens Semi-large screens on XL Cons: Less powerful Lower-resolution screens (240p) Game cards are easier to lose Nintendo network and Miiverse not available yet LCD screens not as colourful as LED, plasma and OLED screens Games usually have less content Multiple units required for multiplayer Circle pad cannot be pressed as a button, second circle pad and triggers require $20 add-on Wii U: Pros: Has some great exclusive games More games coming soon Compatible with Wii games Wii accessories and controllers compatible with Wii U games Has Nintendo Network and Miiverse Better graphics (up to 1080p full HD, games can be more colourful with better TVs) Easier multiplayer (only one system needed, controllers are more affordable then multiple systems) Games can be more immersive with TV, larger screen on Gamepad Small enough to bring somewhere NES and SNES virtual console games, Nintendo 64, Gamecube Game Boy Advance and possibly other system games likely coming soon More powerful Games usually have more content Cons: Only available in black and white More expensive ($300 for basic model, $350 for deluxe model (more storage, comes with Nintendo Land)) Games more expensive (most Nintendo-published games $60, though some are less, especially when downloadable) Must be plugged into a power outlet Operating system quite slow until system update Could fail if sales don't pick up Good game library is somewhat small
