Yup, looks like the chances of finding these puppies is... IMPOSSIBLY SLIM...
This seriously makes me mad. For those collectors out there; they AREN'T gonna go any lower in price. Not fair unless you're willing to spend $900 on THREE FIGURES.

It's a flawed system, they know it is, but they are making it worse instead of fixing it.
Swapforce will likely be the same mess.

Holy crap! Only 1500! Maybe, I could find one... Then, I'd get my grandma to sell it on eBay, but for waaaaay less. But it'll never happen. The rarest I've seen where I live are GITD Sonic Boom, and Red Drilly, as well as Blue Bash.

Lemme explain; NO official numbers, except for event exclusives, Flocked S1 Stump Smash (7, 334), and the Purples, have been revealed, so it's the lowest known number.

Flocked Stump Smash wasn't revealed. Ever.
Contest said that they were guaranteeing 7,334 Flocked Stump Smashes as prizes. Could have given more (even more so if the phone number was as screwed up as it seems where they were awarding virtually everyone who called in a prize). Could have made more for employees of Activision, Toys for Bob, Frito-Lay and their partners. |

These blurple variants .... I would consider it a needle-in-the-haystack find in a store ... and I would never ever pay $300 for a single Skylanders figurine.
That's absurd.

Look--no reason to hate them--and I'd guess you were just venting anyway I admit the videos (I have only seen a few) ---although they have contests etc----seem a bit like "look what I have..." But I think that it likely not the intention---it's just difficult not to feel that way when you don't have Activison sending you all the rare figures for free. I guess you have to look at it like--good for them, they are having fun and so be it...But it's hard....
My son saw a few of these videos and his first question wasn't if he could get all the figures he wanted from Activision. It was, can I have them send them to ME to do contests with on Utube? It's exciting to be that special person that gets to create the contests and give out the prizes.

The weirdest pancake video I've watched today.
Anywhoo, for those who want Activision to send them free toys like the Skylanders Kids and Andy from FGTV, my suggestion is to start making tons of Youtube videos about Skylanders, showing the game in a positive light. When you start getting 100,000+ hits, Activision will likely take notice and send you some goodies. |

^Consider these their consulting / public relations fee. They generate quite a bit more interest than Activision marketing EVER has.

Exactly. If anyone put in this much effort - on a regular basis - to basically give Activision free advertising of Skylanders, they'd probably hook you up with some free stuff. One video from Andy probably creates more buzz for the brand than a commercial on Saturday morning. Just don't be a douche. I couldn't make the videos because I'm a jerk - and even if they were exciting, Activision wouldn't want to be shown giving me free stuff because then they'd be giving free stuff to a jerk. Watch your persona outside of the videos as well as what you put on the videos. Basically, if you want them to give you free stuff, you got to A) Make the videos informative/exciting enough that people want to watch them, Believe that (or pretend that you believe that) Skylanders is the greatest thing ever - bigger than Jesus and the Beatles combined as an opening act for Justin Beiber and C) Be a likable person. It's that simple. |

$900...it's more like $950. Getting a bargain is NOT gonna happen with these. I have one more to get to call it a wrap, and with that, will be seriously rethink variants. I'd rather have a full set with the cost involved. Or treat a variant as a "if I see it in the store and I can get it at retail, then GREAT".

^ Honestly I would just choose the figures you like and go with that, skip the ones you don't.
I got a clear wham shell cause he's my fav guy and i love the clear look, but i have no plans to get clear stealth or cyn. I got flocked stump and eruptor, but couldn't care for flocked prism break.(employee is another story) I got the metallic chop chop cause it's looks so cool and even better in person (also cause i was in NYC the day they were given out at the toy fair as I was at the TRU time Square Ninjini event and honestly would have rather gotten that instead of ninjini like 2 months earlier then retail.) Wife got glitter sprocket cause she loves sprocket. We got our son e3 hot dog cause it's his favorite skylander. He plays e3 till he needs rest, then molten, then regular. E3 spyro (cause i love spyro in general), violet eyebrawl and the employee prism break are on my list, but they all however are out of my price range atm so IDk if/when I will get these. We have skipped the rest cause I don't really care for them, Gold/silver skylanders do nothing for us (unless it's spyro) as do glow in the dark ones, they look good and I love stuff that glows in the dark but for $200 plus i don't think so. The rock skylanders are ok, zook i'd buy if cheap, whirlwind no- polar is way better. I will prob skip eyebrawl if pumpkin is real and looks near as good. Edits: Spelling and rewritten- typing while watching happy gilmore = fail. |
