Post your bad reviews here from other sites! My son is a huge fan of Skylanders Series 1 and now Skylanders Giants. For Christmas, the only gift he asked for was Thumpback. Of course, there were no Thumpbacks to be had and Christmas was ruined. We finally played the stupid game of driving to Gamestop whenever we went into town (which is BTW quite a ways away)looking..looking. Disappointment after disappointment. Finally, A THUMPBACK!!! Now the stupid game again with Ninjini. After having visited the Gamestop about a dozen times in a dozen weeks, the clerk finally admitted that Skylanders sales had dramatically slowed because the people who wanted figurines already had them. Thumpbacks are collecting dust on the shelf. He won't be ordering anymore figurines until he can move the merchandise he already has, which is unlikely. He's unable to order Ninjinis on their own, he has to order other figurines with them that he already has too many of, so he doesn't anticipate placing any new orders and getting any Ninjinis anytime soon. My only guess is the same can be said for Amazon and other online retailers. We're not playing this game anymore. No Ninjini. And when our son begs for the new Series Swap Force, our answer will be a flat out NO! Congratulations, Activision. You just lost a customer.

EBay?.... I know it doesn't make you feel better but, Ninjini is everywhere were I live (Washington) I assume she won't be that much over retail right now....Scarlet Ninjini on the other hand continues to rise in price...or maybe someone can help you out with an extra they have laying around..

what a know-at-all idiot. if the store doesn't have it, call another store tell them to hold the figure even though if they don't have it, they email you and you can come and pick it up. ~or~ wait about a month or 2 and go online. when did this guy last use his brain??? BUY THE KID THE GAME!

Gamestop managers don't "order" products. They get what they get in the shipments the company sends from the warehouse. Why do people feel the need to fabricate random stories about things like that? And there ARE other stores to buy Skylanders from besides Gamestop if they're not getting the merchandise he's looking for.

I feel for the guy. Just because most of us here like the hunt and collectability doesnt mean every parent will.
However if the only reason not to get the game at all is because you cant find specific or every figure, Dont count on getting all the figs you want. If you can tell your child no to the entire game, you can say no to figures. Its not like you need all or even a fraction to enjoy the game |

*headdesk* No. Gamestop managers/whoever does the stock for that store (and, similarly, every other store) do have to order in the stock they want. Yes, they get sent from the warehouse, but they say, for example "We want x of y, and z boxes of a" (and so on) in the weekly ordering. They don't just get sent stuff randomly. Back on the main topic, I've seen a few reviews before about "This figure won't work in the game" regarding Giants figures being tried to being used in the first game... Gonna see if I can find one again... |

This is one I noticed recently on Walmart.com for Lightcore Pop Fizz.
My son received the Skylander Giants Poster with the game starter pack as I am sure every one else did. After searching for Light Core Pop FIzz in stores to no avail, a relative purchased it online as a gift for my son.We discovered that the Light Core Pop Fizz advertised on the Activision website and posters are completely different than what is being sold in stores. I called Activision to ask and was given a couple of answers.Basically they did not take responsibility and some how said it was the consumers job which it is to look and make sure it is the item you want. I guess if I would have known that the Light Core Pop FIzz on the website and poster was never actually manufactured I would have been more cautious. Perhaps this person is being a bit dramatic. Would he have never bought the figure to begin with if the poster was correct all along? I don't think so. Was the LC Pop Fizz in the poster that much more cooler looking that the one that was actually available to consumers? I for one had never even noticed a difference until after reading this review. It is funny how some people dwell on the weirdest things.

^Activision not being responsible? Not dramatic at all. However, to their credit...they've done everything they can to denote what's a lightcore and what isn't...the whole "you can take a horse to water but can't make it drink" comes to mind.

This thread is dumb.
There is no game on Earth ... no matter how awesome it is or how broad its appeal spreads ... there is no game that will satisfy everyone. And there are a lot of people who simply can not be satisfied by ... anything. Sour grapes, party poopers, negative Nancies ... whatever you want to call them ... some people are just naturally only happy when it rains, and sometimes those people will go out of their way to try to make it rain even when it's bright and sunny outside. For better or worse, if you really want to enjoy Skylanders, you DO have to "get into it" a little bit, at least. You have to know how the figures are released in waves, and you have to know and accept that some figures are easier to find than others, and you also have to know and accept that it's almost impossible for any one retail store location to stock EVERY Skylanders figurine that is available. Lots of people in the USA have severe untreated ADHD (not just kids anymore), and lots of others are spoiled and/or have a burning unrelenting need for immediate gratification. Those folks don't like to be told that a certain item is unavailable or "sold out" ... that drives those folks NUTS. And rather than handle it maturely, those folks turn to ranting and *****ing ... usually on the internet ... and blaming others for their issues (screw Activision! Toys R Us sucks! I hate scalpers! etc. etc.). If anyone writes a harshly negative "review" for Skylanders, it's because that person is most likely ignorant, spoiled, or is just a plain idiot. No need to draw attention to them, really. I'd vote for closing this thread.

I was a Gamestop manager before I stopped working in retail. Their ordering powers are relegated to cleaning supplies. Other than that, they get sent assortments of games, used games, and accessories, based on whatever is current at the time. The contents of the shipments aren't random, but they're not determined by anyone who works inside a specific store. |

Smaller stores like Gamestop will always have that issue when stock slows down. Sadly the best place to get Skylanders is probably Toys R US do to their high turnover. Although 1/2 the pegs are filled with Flashwings at the ones by me.

I agree the idea of shipping out boxes of figures that Activision have picked is silly.
"Right, you get 1 popular figure and 10 that nobody wants anymore" is just stupid. It's not only Activision that do this however and hardly limited to Skylanders. When we used to run a game store Nintendo put such crazy restrictions on our purchases we stopped selling their games new. Crazy things like having to order an entire display shelf of random games in order to get the ONE game you want. They are simply trying to shift the burden of unsold stock down the line to the retail outlet so as not to get stuck with inventory they can't shift. I can see why but it sucks for the retailers. Some try to pass it on a bit to consumers with "Bundles" or in the better cases "Offers" such as 2 for one or buy one get one half price etc in order to shift the stock, but in the end the retail outlet usually gets burned on unsold stock. Sadly, due to the nature of Skylanders this annoys the end consumer far more than it would otherwise but I don't think I would give Skylanders a bad review because of it! |

I swear. People on amazon complain about everything. And I'm an amazon customer. Lol. But it does get ridiculous why they complain. Apparently to say "Christmas was ruined" over something like this is in my opinion is bad parenting. You teach the child that holidays are meant for happiness and gratitude of what you have and not what you don't have. This parent has to understand as well as children that there is a supply and demand. Yes I also agree that their timing of figure releases and number of figures are way off but this was the same when pokemon was hitting the States. People went nuts over the merchandise and somethings were harder to come by. Just sick it up and wait for availability or search somewhere else. Gamestop isn't the kingdom of video games. Though they like to think so.

This is absolutely true, and to add to it there are a significant number of people that live to hate on games. They call themselves gamers, they run out to midnight releases, rush through the game so they can jump on the Internet and say how bad, easy, dumb, etc. the game was, and spoil the story too if possible. Then when the sequel comes out they will drone on about how the new one doesn't live up to the greatness of the previous one they user to say they hated. Everyone laughs at the "Comic Store Guy" on the Simpsons. But the character isn't inaccurate, he exists because some people are actually like that. The best bet when reading reviews on websites is to cut off the top 10% and bottom 20% of the reviews. Some people are not happy with anything, and statistically speaking someone upset with a product/service is way more likely to write a review than someone pleased with it. I typically skips the 1 star reviews to see if they bring up feature problems/reliability issues, but then compare them to other reviews to see if it is a real issue. |

Some things you just don't laugh at. Just because someone doesn't laugh at something doesn't mean they don't have a sense of humor. I mean, a bad review isn't like animal cruelty or death, but still if you really like a franchise, it can be hard to laugh at something negative. Just saying it's human nature to not laugh when you're dedicated to something. But personally I could care less what people say about Skylanders, cause I'm used to the flak it gets. |

Okay I really can't believe I'm the only one having a problem with this bit. Telling your children "no" to having a game is not abuse. We were told many times as children for good reason. The child isn't being denied anything they vitally need, it's a parent weighing the pros and cons of getting everything they can for their children vs. the cost and time to go spelunking and finding it by chance for a reasonable price. If this is 'abuse' to you you've led one very sheltered life. |

I think this is a great thread and hope Activision takes the time to listen. The hunting game is not fun. The simple answer is pre orders. If someone is pre ordering 10 or more of the same figure they either have a huge family or have lost their mind because in a few years what are you going to do with all this worthless plastic? There is no long term value in any of these games and I don't plan on decorating my home with them. I just want to be able to get the figures I want without driving all over town wasting my time. If activision wants my money then they can do the leg work. It takes more time to locate some figures than it does to beat the game 100 times. There is no value there for me.

In the long run it sounds like you and your child will lose, because Skylanders has brought so much joy into my childrens lives. The chase would be worth it if I had to search stores 7 days a week. Activision definitely needs to fix their problem with distribution, but its not such a problem I would be bitter, and boycott the franchise. I have contacted activision many times over that last year, and they are less then helpful with any info at all in regards to their skylander products. This is the reason I have resorted to the internet (fan sites etc) to find out info on products that are soon to be released. It seems they purposely limit the amount of figures in circulation to create a hype, it actually is genius marketing whether activision intended to do this or not. If you spend 5-10 dollars more for a figure on ebay rather than wasting time and gas searching stores you would come out on top financially instead of the bitter father with an unhappy child. Sorry just my 2 cents.
I was at TRU yesterday in my area and they have tons of Ninjinis if you need help finding one for your child I would be glad to assist. It has also been available on several websites at retail price for quite some time.

Why defend an angry troll of a parent? This game brings joy to millions all over the world. Saying no to a 3rd helping of dessert is one thing. Saying no to the entire game because you couldn't find 1 figure is absurd. I say no to my children all the time. I compare it to saying my child cant play with another child because I don't like the parents. Control freak dad spews his negativity on the web and people condone it. Its a shame period. I hope his child isn't beaten daily and made to eat lima beans for dinner every night.

Wait, he's not real???????? JK Anyways, some ppl are just plain dumb. Last I checked christmas was a time of giving and spending time with family. If i can explain to a 6yr old (at the time), that santa can't bring you every toy you want and he "picks at random" what you get then i don't see why other parents can't. Heck I even told my son the elves can only make so many toys and not every kid was getting the TMNT playset cause they cant build so many. The real reason here was xmas was PR stuff, his birthday in Feb we did TMNT. I already explained to him that Swap Force is coming out in Oct but he may not get it till santa brings it or mom/dad decide to buy it. These parents need to use some common sense in explaining stuff to kids, some kids might see past this but if they still believe in the magic of santa then I'm pretty sure they understand one way or another. Thou I do think Activision needs to explain better to ppl that not everything is out at first and that the toys come in waves. Even if they ballparked them. Like saying in Oct of last year, expect thumpback in spring/summer. |

My oldest is 7, and for several years has had disbelief in Santa.
We keep telling him that Santa IS real but he has some quite compelling arguments to refute our statements. Very proud of him for not just believing everything he is told and being smart enough to think for himself and present arguments to support his theory. Of course the sad fact is Santa IS real but our kids are just always on the naughty list so we have to supply the presents to prevent tears on Christmas morning. |
