You mean html tags like <b>? I don't know if it's a matter of being allowed or not but rather something to do with compatability. The forum uses BBcode such as [b] which is very similar. Dunno if this is what you're asking about.

I believe it's mostly that forums usually use such a system for formatting, and so users are often more accustomed in using it and will, usually, have a better time with it. Basically, ease of use. BBCode tends to be quite standard. There's also other issues with allowing HTML...

Allowing HTML could actually be good, that way I can use Autoplay on Youtube videos ^.^b
