Allowing the Skylanders to "air out" on a porch where it's dry/sunny usually will work. If not, you can use a very diluted solution of everyday liquid soap and a lightly damp fine cloth.

That's... Difficult to do properly. You'd have to use some strong stuff, but you risk damaging the figure. If the smell is right in the figure, you'd either have to live with it, or replace the figure.

DON'T just spray Febreeze/whatever all over it. This might not end up removing the smell, just cover it up.

Some stuff I've found...

-Soap and vinegar. Try this on a small area first!
-Scrub with a nice smelling cleaner. ALWAYS spray it onto a cloth and rub it onto the figure - again, trying a small area to minimise damage.
-Stick in fresh air for a while. This means sticking outside. Not good if it's gonna rain/if it's humid.
-Toothpaste and toothbrush. Again, try on a small area, and only use a SMALL amount.
-Steam and fresh air. Sounds easy enough. Get a bowl of boiling hot water, where there is steam coming off. Have the figure above the bowl(in a mesh bag), so the steam hits it, then leave it in fresh air when it gets damp.

So yeah, whatever you try, don't just spray stuff on, use a cloth to rub it on(this makes sure you get the entirety of the figure), and ALWAYS test a small area first. And avoid extreme heat/moisture.

Same thing happened with me when I bought another set of the Starter Pack figures at a yard sale. I just got a damp cloth with soap, washed it, and what I did was I just left it out with a fan for a few hours, it doesn't smell as strong now, but you can always just get something that smells nice and place it next to the figure, and I put a jar over the figures+the scented candle samples/small size, leave them in for about a day.

Just report it and move on. No need to draw attention to it. Even less need to repost it.

Get an air freshener don't use the whole thing just cut the a bit off it and seal in a bag or jar with the figure for a couple of the days the figure will then smell like the air freshener.

Since Skylanders are plastic and not plush, whatever is causing the odor likely hasn't permeated the figure, so just soaking it in warm, soapy water should be enough. It's likely just some sort of film on the surface.

Don't use alcohol, or vinegar, since those could damage the paint. The same goes for household cleaners and air fresheners, like Febreeze, that contain alcohol.

I always see listings saying "smoke free home" and wondered with hard plastic why that would matter---I didn't know it could really cause problems that couldn't be wiped off---(regarding smell)

Please see my guestbook for the remaining packs I need---Any help is appreciated. smilie

Cigarette odor clings to everything and some people are allergic. Added to that, it yellows white materials very easily. I don't think I'd ever intentionally buy something from a home where the person smokes around their merchandise.

Lots of stuff mentioned but nobody mentioned the one method that always works that lots of collectors use.

Put the figure in a ziplock bag with a dryer sheet for a day or two. The dryer sheet will absorb the smoke odor.
