War has always ravaged lands and changed lives forever. However, there is just one difference this time. We do not exist anymore. Yes, that’s right. Us humans? We’re dead. Long gone. I mean LONG gone. We’re not even spooky pup stories anymore! We. Don’t. Exist. The Wolves do. Yes, your typical standard wolf. They are the dominant species of the planet now. If you know absolutely nothing about wolves, here are a few things about their society: They are carnivorous pack animals; they hunt in groups and they hunt big prey. Though wolves can try and hunt alone, it will usually result in death unless catching small game. A pack of wolves usually consists of 6–20 individuals each with their own social position and they must behave accordingly. Now, these wolves can form alliances through offerings or ties to other packs. However, like all things, rivalries are always born, both small between the two littermates wrestling in the grass, to the leaders of the pack, arguing and bickering over territory. Tensions have become quite high between two particularly big packs. Alliances to sister and brother packs have already been formed on both sides. It’s only a matter of time before the fight begins.

Welcome, young wolf, to our grand society. Well, one might not call it ‘grand’ but it is our way of life. It is how we have lived, and it will probably be how we live for many moons to come. This is what all young pups and wolves must learn, and so must you.

The Wolves’ Code:

1. The alpha pair of the pack is indisputable in any situation and will lead their pack with responsibility and make the best decisions concerning the welfare of their pack. They shall not bow down to any other wolf.

2. The beta pair of the pack is in charge of defending the pack entrusted with and protecting its individuals at any cost. Pups are priority. They are the future.

3. Pups under 12 moons of age shall be exempt from rank in wolf society until they have learned the ways of a wolf and shall be treated as such.

4. At 20 moons of age, a young wolf will become an adult, a fully capable and respectable member of the pack. They shall set out on their own for one moon cycle. If they survive, they are then reborn as a new wolf and part of the pack from there on henceforth with a new name.

5. No wolf from any pack shall kill another wolf within that same pack. If so, that wolf is cursed and must be chased out or killed by sundown. Any pack has the right to kill that wolf.

6. If a wolf would wish to be part of another pack, he must cut ties with his old pack and enter only by acceptance and the lowest submission to the alpha of the new pack.

7. Twice every 12 moons, once at the Winter Solstice and once at the Summer Solstice, the alphas of all the packs within a 5 days journey shall meet together without violence of any sort to settle whatever problems have arisen and to acknowledge any newly formed packs. If any wolf breaks the peace of the Solstice Meeting, he and his pack shall henceforth be considered outcasts and enemies and shall be hunted down with all the swiftness and fury.

8. Pups shall be the responsibility of ALL the pack. They must heed and obey every pack member.

9. When a prey is hunted but the work of a pack, regardless of who made the kill, the alpha pair eats first, followed by the beta, then, whoever killed it. The rest can be divided out by whoever is left. However, if it is small prey, the wolf that kills the prey is the wolf that eats it, and not even the alpha can take it from that wolf.

10. No wolf shall steal another wolf’s mate, and no wolf shall take another mate while his/her mate is still alive.

11. Any pack that does not follow the Wolves’ Code shall be considered outcasts, lowest of the low, and if they set foot in any of your territories, hunt them down.

Thus Sayeth The Spirit of The Wolf

Ranks:

Alpha – The leaders of the pack. They make final decisions, and lead the pack wherever they go.

Beta – The generals of the pack. They are in charge of protecting the pack and keeping everyone safe. They are also responsible for devising attacking strategies with the alpha.

Hunters – Hunters are all the same rank, but each wolf goes to where his abilities are useful. For instance, a fast running wolf with a lot of stamina could be a Messenger, yet still considered a Hunter rank. Hunters provide the bulk of the pack and are in charge of hunting prey, being teachers to the younger generations and they are supposed to strictly follow the orders of the Beta.

Caretakers/Mothers – The wolves that stay behind to protect the pups and defend den entrances. Also for wolves that are pregnant as well as nursing mothers.

Elders – Wizened old wolves whose bones begin to ache and their time is going to end soon. However, they must pass on their knowledge to younglings, whether it be healing, to predicting the weather, or sharing stories of their lifetime or other lifetimes. This group also includes any wolf that is out of commission for good.

Subordinate Wolves – Those rowdy spry young wolves usually not adults yet though. They still have their childish energy and tend to frolic and get into trouble instead of focusing on their training to become reliable wolves to the pack.

Pups – Although outside the rank system, Pups are still above the Submissive rank. Playful but still new to the world, pups are always the priority of any pack. After all, they ARE the next generation.

Submissives – It’s rare for a wolf pack to have a Submissive, but when they do, it’s most likely a prisoner, a recently accepted member, or a criminal wolf hoping to redeem themselves. If the Submissive wolf fits in the two latter categories, the alpha can choose to lift their rank after a certain amount of time of proving themselves. They must always look down, have ears flattened and prostrate themselves before higher-ranking wolf members. Almost never allowed to have any say in any matters.

The Packs:
Cazru –Occupies the northwestern mountainous area near 5th Mountains. Tensions are high with Kezoro.

Kezoro – Occupies a territory adjacent to Cazru, in a southeastern forest area known as the 7th Forest. Tensions are high with Cazru.

Malbo – A smaller, newly formed pack that has settled in 3rd Valley, just below 5th Mountains. Undecided on the war, but feel the pressure from both sides and mostly from Cazru

Zyphen – A somewhat more nomadic tribe ranging from the edge of the 7th Forest to the wispy plains of 4th Meadow. Sister pack to Cazru, but close friends with Kara.

Leste – Netural Pack in a desert region known as 8th Sands, the far south side of 7th Forest.

Kara – Sharing the large expanse of the 7th Forest is the Kara tribe. They are allied sister pack with Kezoro, but have a deep connection with the Zyphen pack. Female-led and female-dominant.

Laficten – A pack that protects a small forest known as 2nd Forest, and guards the entryway to the most sacred place of the wolf packs. Netural in alliances but made up of specially chosen wolves from each pack to unite in one purpose.

Balica – Nothern Pack that lives on the 5th Mountains area. Rivals with Malbo. Allies with Cazru. Female-led.

Name: Kiwidinok (Kiwi for short)
Pup Name: N/A
Gender: Female
Age: 55 moons
Appearance: She is a little bit shorter than most wolves, and also more lean. Her pelt is of a beautiful golden brown color, with a white muzzle, white ear tips, white paw tips, and a white tail tip. Her eyes are a light sapphire blue.
Personality: Kiwi has always been a calm wolf, even has a pup. She is also generally quiet and is highly loyal to her pack, being very obedient to the alphas and betas of the pack. She has a sweet and gentle nature, being friendly towards all pack members, and is especially caring towards pups. However, she knows when to be nasty and can switch to a fierce fighter in moments, especially when protecting her pack or her loved ones.
Rank: Caretaker/Mother
Past: After Even at a young age, she was well-known for her quick and graceful movements. The way she moved was like watching an elegant dance. As she got older, she made quick use of her agility. Her speed made her always seem just out of reach. She soon became a good hunter and messenger, and was called Kiwidinok, meaning 'of the wind', for her graceful movements. Although she had always had a soft spot for a fellow hunter, Ahiga, whose name means 'he fights'. Ahiga soon became her mate, and she retired her hunter life when she became a mother. Ahiga, however, continued his work as a hunter, and had lost his life in a fight not long after his first pup was born. Kiwi has since never returned to her old rank has hunter, and stays extra close to her pups to protect them.
Physicality: Kiwi is a fleet footed wolf known for her speed, agility, and stamina. Her lightweight and sleek frame make her physically weaker, but also light on her feet. Her body type is perfect for speedy hit-and-run attacks, and her stamina makes her ideal for longer battles. She also makes a fine messenger, being a quick wolf that doesn't tire easily.
Pack Name: Kara
Other: She has been more quiet and reserved since the lost of her mate, being less social towards the rest of the pack. She is still kind, yet seems to still be sad. Yet she can be highly protective over her pups, becoming quickly aggressive over minor things that may harm them.

Name: Keezheekoni (Koni for short)
Pup Name: Koko
Gender: Female
Age: 21 moons
Appearance: Koni is taller and more muscular than her mother is, and is even has a bigger build than some of the other wolves of the pack. Her pelt is jet black in color, with the same white muzzle, ear tips, paw tips, and tail tip as her mother. Her eyes are a faded yellow.
Personality: Koni is perhaps the opposite of her mother in nature, being restless, loud, tough, and also impulsive. She's also a little more independent, and likes to disregard the rules sometimes, which often gets her into trouble. She can have a bit of a temper, and often needs to be reminded of her place in the pack. However, she has a brave and noble heart, willing to fight for her pack and being surprisingly loyal to them.
Rank: Hunter
Past: Koni hardly remembers her father, but she's gotten countless remarks on how much she resembles him. It's as if his spirit lives on in her. She was first named Koko, which means 'night', because of her dark pelt color. She had always been a bit reckless and impulsive, always running off and getting herself into trouble. Koni always showed bravery and guts, playing rough as a pup and never backing down from any challenge. Like her parents, she became a hunter, and was given the name Keezheekoni, which means 'burning fire', for her fiery spirit. She has just recently become of age and became a true member of the pack.
Physicality: Koni is a little bulkier than most wolves, giving her great physical strength. She has good endurance, able to take quite a few hits, and also be strong enough to deal damage right back. However, she isn't as speedy and agile as her mother is. She doesn't tire out quickly, but that has more to do with youth than physique. However, her body type wouldn't allow her to have as much stamina as her mother at an old age.
Pack Name: Kara
Other: Her mother is Kiwi, and her father is Ahiga. Because of her resemblance to her father, her mother often as a hard time dealing with her. She just reminds Kiwi so much of Ahiga that it sometimes pains her to look Koni in the eyes.

Name: Ohanzee
Pup Name: Ashkii
Gender: Male
Age: 19 moons
Appearance: He is lean and sleekly muscular. His pelt is golden brown with a black muzzle, black ear tips, and black tail tip. His paw tips and underbelly are a lighter shade of golden brown. He has sapphire blue eyes.
Personality: He is just the sweetest little thing, wanting to be a friend to everybody. He is fun-loving and playful, always wanting to hang out with friends rather than do any form of work. Although he does have a loyal and obedient nature, often minding his manners and being respectful of his elders and higher ranking wolves. He has a calmer nature than his sister and isn't fond of the idea of fighting.
Rank: Subordinate
Past: As a pup, he was always wanting to make friends with everyone and play with other pups. He generally stayed close to his mom and sister, and wasn't one to get into trouble. As he grew older, he wanted to be a useful member of the pack, although he wasn't too keen on harming other animals. He had always rather be more of a messenger than a hunter.
Physicality: He isn't bulky and strong like his father or sister, making him physically weaker than either of them. However, he is a little stronger than his mother is, being more muscular than her. Like his mother, he is fleet footed and agile, with good stamina. He may not be as graceful, but he is as speedy.
Pack Name: Kara
Other: His mother is Kiwi, and his father is Ahiga. His sister is Koni. He is only a couple of moons younger than his sister, and is close to being a full-fledged member of the pack. Ashkii means 'boy' and Ohanzee means 'shadow'.

Ohanzee was happily eating the meat off of the dead carcass that had been brought back. He was grateful for the food, and made a mental note to thank the wolf that had caught it. His mother, Kiwi, sat close by as she watched him eat. She had already had her share and had laid down to rest for the moment. She missed the days when she and her mate would hunt together. Koni, however, was off away from the group. She huffed as she got up and started walking past the others. Koni may had been hungry, but she was going to catch her own food. Something small that she could have all to herself would do nicely.

Pup Name: Akur
Gender: Male
Age: 8 Moons
Appearance: http://fc00.deviantart.net/fs2..._by_Opium01.png
Personality: (optional)
Rank: Pup/Young Wolf
Past: Akur was never really a dominant type of wolf. Yes, he had more strength and stamina then most of the other pups, but he never really tried to show himself superior over the others. His mother and father think that as somewhat of a weakness... So far his puphood hadn't been that exciting, but he felt pretty scared by all the rumors going about. Akur had met the Kara pack before.
Physicality: Akur has less speed than most wolves, but he has a great strength, and great stamina. Although still undeveloped, Akur still has somewhat of an edge over most wolves his age.

ooc: e.e........................YEAH LETS START!

Akur blinked as his pack moved along. Where were we going again? Oh well... He doggedly just followed along behind his mother's footsteps.

Kara's pack was moving as well. Then they stopped in a small clearing in the forest. The leader, Lyynera sat close to the middle, signaling for her pack to stop.

The pack of Zyphen, led by Karne soon reached the clearing as well a couple minutes later. Karne flicked his ears to tell his pack they could now rest.

Wolves from both packs now dispersed and mingled with each other. A little playfighting even went on with some of the adults and obviously the pups. Karne and Lyynera greeted each other with nuzzles and brushes, as friends did. They talked in soft voices to each other and if any wolf didn't know his own pack, they'd say that they were mates!

Akur bounded around, looking for his friends. He spotted Pheonix and wiggled his tail, running up and tackling her playfully. "Hey Pheo!" He said cheerfully.

Kiwi was off laying down on her rock, sort of away from the others. She wasn't really up for mingling with the other wolves. No, she hadn't really been very social since her mate died. Instead, she rested on her rock, watching her pups carefully. Well, she still thought of them as pups, anyway.

Ohanzee was playing with some of the other young wolves and pups, mostly getting chased and tackled by them. He was too passive to even play all that rough with them.

His sister, Koni, scoffed at the young pups playing. How immature. If you're going to have fun, at least play rough and wrestle. She wasn't really interested in socializing with the others. She had much rather go on an adventure and do something exciting. She was hoping for something more fun than a visit with the Zyphen pack. She sighed. Oh well, this was better than nothing, supposedly.

ooc: just a slight request since I completely forgot about it, would you mind putting the ages of your characters in? I know I kinda forgot them. Just have them be in moons. 1 moon cycle = one month approx.

Akur got off her and then ran up to Koko. "Koko!" He called out running towards her as fast as he could go.

Koni, also known by her pup name Koko, turned to see the young pup running towards her. He often reminded her of her younger brother. She sighed, and decided to just be nice to him, like she normally tried to be.
"Akur. Hey. Long time no see." She said casually. She didn't sound too friendly or happy to see him, but she just could never bring herself to be mean to the little guy.

Ohanzee was still playing with the other pups his age. He apparently hadn't noticed Akur running up to his sister.

Kiwi noticed, though, and watched her daughter greet the pup.

ooc: Alright. I'll add that in.

ooc: Thank you. See, cause I was gravely mistaken. I think in the first post I said pup names were only necessary if you were a pup. So, by adding a pup name, I thought your characters were still under 12 moons. X3

"Are you doing alright?" Akur asked cheerfully wagging his tail happily. He didn't really seem too fazed by the fact some wolves weren't too happy to see him bouncing about still like a puppy.

ooc: I see how you would think that. x3 Although I did sort of say that Koni just became an official member of the pack, meaning she wouldn't be a pup anymore. And that Ohanzee is not much younger than her, so he could possibly be a pup. I don't know, I just felt like adding pup names. Since their mother still thinks of them as her pups, I thought she might call them that or something.

"Uh, yeah, just fine. A little bored, but I'm alright." Koni replied casually. She sighed, not really wanting to be stuck hanging out with a pup. She couldn't really play rough with him.

"Koni!" A wolf barked happily. Then suddenly, Koni was tackled from behind by her younger brother. He wagged his tail cheerfully as he sat on top of her, nibbling on her ear.

"Ohanzee, get off!" She growled. Koni then hopped up with him still on her back. Then she bucked a bit, throwing him off. Ohanzee just rolled around on the ground, wagging his tail with his tongue hanging out. She rolled her eyes at the sight. "You're so immature...." she muttered.

Name: Mekledoodum (Mekled)
Pup Name: N/A
Gender: Male
Age: 45 moons
Appearance: A solid black wolf. Strong and fierce. A bit larger than most. Very built.
Personality: Cunning and crafty, he seeks always to be the best.
Rank: Hunter
Past: Mekled was born and raised in the Kezoro pack and has longs to be great, thinking it will make him happy. When he was young, he quickly outshone all the other pups his age with his strength and cunning. Even after growing older, this continued, so that he was always the best. After he joined the pack as an adult, he wasn't the best of the best anymore. He had other wolves to compete with then just the pups he grew up with. He fought hard and worked his way to the top, to a reputation of great strength and wisdom. But now he's left wanting more...
Physicality: Makled is incredibly strong, but he isn't as fast as other wolves. He's also very smart and cunning. Lack of speed is his biggest weakness. Along with his pride, which will very seldom allow him to back down from a fight.
Pack Name: Kezoro
Other: He is Matu's father. Mekledoodum means 'conceited.' (He knows he's one of the best and isn't afraid to say it!)

Name: Matunaagd (Matu)
Pup Name: N/A
Gender: Male
Age: 19 moons
Appearance: A solid black wolf, with some grey markings in his fur on his back, around his face, and around his feet. He's Fast and fierce.
Personality: He continually strives to win his father's admiration, appreciation, and most importantly, love. He thinks he can do this by proving himself as a hunter among his pack and by being the best at everything. So he continually strives to be the best, just like his father was, and still is...
Rank: Hunter
Past: Matu was born to his parents in the Kezoro pack. He soon learned that his father only seemed to want him for what he could do for him. He never seemed to be able to earn his father's love. Now, he strives to achieve that. Because of his speed, as a hunter, he is a messenger more than a hunter, but he longs to hunt, as well.
Physicality: Matu isn't as strong as other wolves, but he makes up for it with his cunning and with his speed. He can outrun the best!
Pack Name: Kezoro
Other: Mekled is his father. Matunaagd means 'Fights.' (He continually fights to prove himself, to be the best, and to earn his father's love.)

Matu watched the other wolves eating. How he wished he'd been the one to catch that deer! But no. He was a messenger, not a 'real' hunter. He sighed, looking away. A real hunter. Oh, how he longed for the chance! If he were the one to take down the kill on the hunt, his father would be proud for sure! That frown that was always on his face might actually soften for once. Matu glanced to his father, tearing greedily into the meat, a look of pride on his face. Of course, he'd been the one to kill the meal. That wasn't surprising. His father was one of the best. He pictured him taking down the deer with ease. If only he'd been there! They'd have been doing it together. Hunting would also give them that. The chance to do something together. Maybe they could bond. His father looked up, then, catching his eye. Matu shrank back a bit in fear. Had he done anything recently to warrant his father's anger? His father scowled, but it was slight. Matu breathed a sigh of relief and backed away, heading into the woods. He'd go find a rabbit to eat. At least it would be good practice if he ever did get the chance to hunt.

Name: Weakfang
Pup Name: Little
Age: whatever 20 human years is in moons
Gender: Male
Appearance: Weakfang is smaller than anyone in his pack. He is very thin with scruffy, messy dull grey fur. His claws and teeth are dull and his eyes are usually bloodshot from lack of sleep.
Personality: Weakfang's high voice is barely heard and he doesn't have much hope of confidence. He belives his only purpose is to die and never takes part in the war. He is in dire need of someone to help him regain confidence.
Rank: Submissive
Past: Weakfang was an orphan from birth. He woke up as a pup in his cave and saw his parents were both dead. So he went out on his own and was soon found by the Zyphen pack. He was taken in but is never treated very well by the pack members.
Physicality: Weakfang is very agile and fast but not very strong at all.
Pack Name: Zyphen
Other: Nothing really.

Weakfang woke up after about a 3 hour sleep. He yawned and walked out of the cave he had fell asleep in. He walked around and yawned repeatedly. He found he had nothing to do but watch as the other pack members ate their kills and slept in. He sighed and layed in the grass. His head between his front paws and ears down. He closed his eyes and tried to go back to sleep but a cold breeze kept blowing across him. He eventually got up and sighed again. Weakfang climbed up on a rock and started to claw the ground, pretending it was the wolf who killed his parents. He jumped down elegantly and ran circles in the grass. He stopped and layed in the grass. He rolled on his back and closed his eyes. He only thought about his past absent-mindedly. That was all he planned to do that day. Just think.

OOC: Yup, yup!

Matu wandered through the forest, looking for a rabbit or any other small game he could kill. His stomach began growling. If he didn't find anything soon, his stomach alone would make it terribly difficult to hunt. He'd be heard by every animal in the forest. He sighed. Maybe his father was right. Maybe he never would be a good hunter. He sighed, his mood becoming sad as he continued to wander the trees, searching for game.

Weakfang realized he was wasting his day, as usual. But today he wanted something different. Something exciting... Something... Not boring.

He got up from his spot in the grass and realized his pack was gone. He followed their scent trail and soon enough realized he came to his pack's resting point. He saw 3 of his pack members talking about exploring.

For what seemed like the first time, he smiled. Weakfang bounded over to the wolves.

"Hi there. I'm uh... Uh... -gulp- W-W-we-Weakfang." He was afraid they would make fun of him. He froze up.

Matu continued to wander through the forest, almost giving up hope of catching a meal, then he heard it. Stopping, he crouched low, listening. It was definitely something small. Most likely a rabbit. He followed the sound, being as quiet as possible. Soon, he came across the small brown rabbit nibbling the grass without a care. He frowned, wishing he could behave like that, without a care. He waited, crouched low, then suddenly pounced. The rabbit saw him, but it was too late, he was already upon it, tearing into it's tender body with his teeth. He enjoyed the meal, though it was small. It satisfied, but he was still hungry, and he wanted more practice hunting, so he continued on into the forest instead of heading back to the pack. He was getting pretty far away, but he really didn't relish the idea of going back.
