It's been four decades since the fall of Malefor and the rise of the Purple Empire. The great king, Spyro perished long ago from defending his lands from a mysterious shadowy demon, and the fate of the kingdom has fallen upon the shoulders of his daughter and her new family. The creature of darkness has once again begun its descent upon Avalar, bringing it's army with it. However, a new face of hope has appeared.

Her name is Aethra. And as a Goldenchild, a mortal goddess of the sun itself, it is her duty to the crown to seek out this threat and destroy it once and for all. Despite what she believes, she cannot carry out this enduring task alone. As stubborn as she is, she has reluctantly agreed to take a team of dragons with her on her quest to find the demon. Cynder, the High Queen, has sent out a summons to those who she believes will be helpful on this mission.

A courier has just dropped off a strange letter addressed to you. Curiously, you flip it over and notice, with surprise, that the royal seal is holding the envelope shut. You open the letter, wondering what the royal family could possibly want from you, and to your shock you find that it is a summons written from the High Queen herself to come to the Basilium Palace in the heart of Warfang. A small note is at the bottom, granting you permission to bring one companion if you wish.

Species: Elemental Dragon
Appearance: Like this, but a bit younger with brighter colors.
Personality: Usually in a good mood, and tries to reassure others of the positive side of things, even if she's thinking negatively too. She stays strong for those who need her, but doesn't really accept the same from others, believing she should only rely on herself for many things. Tends to over-analyze all the wrong things, making her miss important things and fall clumsily into bad situations. When she's angry or depressed, she will usually become very quiet, speaking softly or not at all. If you get her angry enough, she will get a burst of adrenaline and use it to lash out at you with either words or, in rare cases, actual violence. She is also very protective of friends, and sometimes she blindly defends those she barely knows in hopes of receiving friendship. Cares too much about what others think of her.
Powers/Abilities: The element of Sunlight, the power of Ancient Flame, and the power of Shadow. Has strong flight skills that make up for her lack of brute strength and fighting abilities.
Other: Is the adoptive daughter of Cynder's son-in-law. Her egg originally came from thousands of years ago, but was frozen until almost two decades ago. While she was born with "godhood", she still must earn the title of Sun Goddess and the immense power that comes with it.

Personality: Happy and cheerful, but a bit naive. When something goes wrong, he tends to take the blame and be really hard on himself. Always believes in the better of people.
Powers/Abilities: Element of Water, and the power of Ice. Isn't the best at flying, but is physically strong and fast on foot, and has decent fighting abilities.
Other: Is the unknown grandson of Spyro and Cynder, and is part of the secret race of water dragons who hide in an underwater city beneath the Valley of Avalar.

Berserk mode is when her eyes turn a blood red color and her strength and speed are raised for about 5 to 7 minutes. It drains almost half of her energy.

Name: Kokoro (Other Nicknames: Koro / Ko)
Gender: Male
Age: 20
Species: Dragon (Soft-scaled)
Appearance: Kokoro is an average dragon with a muscular body that mostly came from training rather than natural talent. His body naturally is quite lithe and is very pale, with a light turquoise tint to it. This paleness is also due to the fact his skin almost never sees sun except in a few places that are more vibrantly colored turquoise making him appear almost to have stripes. The reason his skin never sees the sun is because he's always wearing armor. He wears a helmet that covers everything except for the eyes and even then, his eyes are shaded so darkly they're almost impossible to see. The helmet covers the two little stubs he has for horns and replaces them with two long, cast iron horns that jut out in a dorsal manner. Chained, plated chest armor covers the front of his chest as well as his underbelly, the chains and plates are to help for mobility, since he is a quick fighter. His back is fitted with armor as well, this is possible due to the fact that he can flatten his spines until they're almost imperceptible to sight, unlike most dragons. Open spots on the armor are where the helmet reaches the collarbone, and then at the joints of the forelegs and hindlegs. His foreleg armor consists of again, plated armor, but also an armguard with a 4 inch curved blade on it, blunter than his other blades. Above his knuckles are retractable and detachable, Wolverine-like claws. However, unlike Wolverine, there are 4 of these curved blades can separate and move just like his claws and fingers. These are also attached to the arm guard where loaded springs are fitted in with thin, strong steel cables that can shoot out and retract. His hind legs don't have the same thing, but are still metal encased, yet mobility free. I should mention that all his actual claws are encased in metal that has been lengthened half an inch each longer. These are his second sharpest weapons. Along the tail, is plated armor but at the end, is his most powerful weapon. Added onto his tail is a runic, scimitar-like blade lengthening his tail by about 3 feet. It can retract back up to a sheath on top of the tail armor. It's properties will be explained in Powers and Abilities. Kokoro has normal sized wings with a white wing membrane. The wings are encased in metal, and the wings in leather. However, due to his weight, he cannot fly very high and for very long, lest he waste too much of his energy.
Personality: He's very reserved and hesitant about things. Will try to avoid any aggression or aggressive behavior if possible, even to the point of cowardice.
Powers/Abilities: He has no element. Either he has not found it yet, or simply was not born with one, but as of now he is an Elementless dragon. To compensate, he has superb fighting abilities, for which he has trained for for a long while. However, even in battles he may have the best in training, but when in it comes to fighting, it leaves much less than desired due to the fact he couldn't counter any elemental attacks or even get in range close enough to utilize his training. To compensate for this fact, he was forged a Magical Rune Scimitar that allows him to slice a blade of ethereal energy that's distance and damage depend on the strength and width of the slash. It also has the power to withstand and neutralize elemental attacks (obviously not completely, but enough so his soft-scaled self can take it)
Other: Although his past is unknown to most people, rumor has it that he once saved a daughter of Cynder's life, and yet another rumor has it that the daughter saved his life. Whatever the case, he is sometimes seen by her side like a personal guard or something. It is said that Cynder herself is the one who oversaw his training and helped forge him his Rune Scimitar.

Name: Firefly

Gender: Female

Age: 18

Species: Empath Dragon

Appearance: Firefly is sort of a skinny little thing, not having very much fat or muscle. She doesn't look very strong, physically. She has ruby red scales, with a lighter shade of red for her underbelly and wing membrane. Her eyes are a fiery orange color. She has six white horns that aren't very long just yet, the two top ones curve up and backwards a bit, while the middle two simply curve back a bit, and the bottom two curve down and back a bit. She another small white horn at the end of her snout, curving up ever so slightly. Her claws are white as well. She has very small white spikes growing out of her spine from head to tail, but they are barely noticeable because they have yet to grow out fully. The tip of her tail is white and shaped like a blade that curves upward slightly.

Personality: Firefly is friendly and likes making new friends, especially fellow dragons. However, she lacks confidence in her abilities and isn't too fond of the idea of fighting. But she does love to read books and learn more about dragons.

Powers/Abilities: Firefly has a single element, Empathy. This power allows her to have access to multiple elements, but only one at a time, and the element changes depending on her mood. For example, if she were to be very angry, she would glow a scarlet color and have the element of fire at her disposal. She can't change elements at will, unless she changes her mood or controls her emotions. Most of the time, she doesn't have access to any elements at all. Despite her lack of brute strength, she has great speed, agility, and is skilled in flight.

Other: She has a traveling companion that will be joining her, a dragonfly by the name of Flash. He is a bright orange color. He wears a red scarf and a western-style hat. He also carries a brown boomerang with red stripes.

The Warfang marketplace was crowded as usual, the voices of many travelers and merchants buzzing through the air. It was late morning, and the smell of food seemed to get a little stronger with each minute passing til lunchtime.

Though the largest populous in the marketplace was obviously dragons, there were other races of intelligent creatures among them. Under Spyro and Cynders rise to the throne, hostilities that other creatures held toward dragons because of Malefor had eased away, until there was little tension left. Griffons, cheetahs, fauns, and even the odd phoenix walked among the dragons, eager to purchase in the Dragon City.

Every few creatures, there would be those confined to cloaks. It wasn't a crime for one to be walking about in a cloak, Cynder had declared a law over a decade ago that all visitors and cityfolk of Warfang were allowed their own privacy. If they did not wish to be seen, then they would be allowed that privilege. This, however, did not stop the guards from sometimes pulling cloaked figures over to investigate. They had a royal family and citizens to protect after all.

One particular cloak stood out among the others. A deep scarlet cloak, draped so it was completely covering the quadruped beneath it. A larger, charcoal grey cloak weaved closely behind the first. Two guards, a fire dragon and an electricity dragon, took note of the out of place colors, and gleefully trotted over.

"Watch and learn, rookie." the electric dragon hissed, a sly grin on his lips. The fire dragon eagerly nodded his head and held back a chuckle.

The two guards cut off the path of the much smaller cloaked figures. The electric guard was easily twice the height of the scarlet cloak. He smirked down at the hood.

"Well, well! What have we here? Two trouble makers trying to hide their identity?"

"Yeah!" the fire dragon crowed.

The hooded figure lifted it's head, bright amethyst eyes locking onto his dull brown ones. The electric guard gasped, and shifted uncomfortably. "Y-you?"

The fire guard didn't see anything unusual. He continued to frown at the cloaked creature. "Boss? It's just some freak-shade of eyes, why ya so upset?"

"New on the job, I'm guessing?" a less-than-pleased, female voice sighed. "Perhaps you'll understand when you see this."

"See wha-"

The fire dragon's throat went dry, his eyes locked on a pendant that a reddish orange claw held out. It was in the shape of a dragon, silver, with wings outstretched. It's tail was wrapped in a coil beneath it, which held a glowing fireruby. The guard recognized it from his days of training. One entire month, he'd studied up on magical talismans that were important in Warfang. This particular amulet had been forged for one reason: disguising the true looks of a dragon. With the fireruby placed in it, the wearer would look like the average fire dragon. This amulet was forged also only for one dragon...

"You...you're Aethra! That Sun dragon!"

"Keep it down, would you?!" the dragoness hissed, her amethyst eyes scrunching up for a moment. She sighed and looked up at the guards. "I'm trying to go to the Palace in peace, so if you don't mind..."

The two guards quickly moved to either side and allowed the two figures to continue on their way through the city.

Basillium Palace itself was enormous. Construction had begun about a year after Spyro and Cynders return, and had been placed on the edge of Warfang, originally meant to overlook the entire city. But after construction had begun and word had spread across the lands that new, peaceful rulers stood, many dragons came out of hiding and flocked to the city. By the time the Palace was finished, it had been surrounded by new neighborhoods.

Soon enough, the two figures arrived in an alleyway near the Palace, away from the bustle of the marketplace. Quickly, they both threw back their hoods and looked around. The reddish orange dragoness smiled at her companion, the orange dragon with an odd number of fins. She quickly undid the amulet, and her scales flushed back to their original bright yellow.

"Ah, much better!" she grinned.

Alex quietly made her way into the city. She had a cloak but the hood was pulled down so that everyone could see her face. She's always wanted to go to the heart of the dragon city for years and this was her time to do it. She was happy to see smiling faces and beautiful items in the market. She might buy one later. She pulled the hood of her cloak up to get some shade from the bright sun.

Firefly and Flash had just made their way into the city. The two newcomers paused and looked around at everything with wide eyes. They had never been to a city such as this before.

"Whoo! Check out this happening place. It's filled with all kinds of creatures, some I've never even seen before. And look at all the neat stuff in the shops! Let's go look around!" The little orange dragonfly exclaimed, anxious to explore this new place.

"Wait a minute, Flash. We're not here to explore or shop. We came because of the letter. Although I don't know what they'd want with me." Firefly said quietly.

"Spoilsport." He muttered. "Well, obviously they want help from the two greatest heroes of all time." Flash said proudly, holding his head high. Firefly huffed and cocked her head to the side.

"Flash, be serious. We've never done anything heroic. I mean, I don't even know how to control my powers. I didn't even know the queen knew of me. So why am I here?"

"Pure luck?" Flash shrugged, having no idea himself. "Look, who cares how or why we're here? The point is that we are. So let's make the most of it! After all, how many times have we been in a place this nice?" He asked. Firefly chuckled a bit.

"Yeah, I guess you're right." She smiled.

"Of course I am! Now let's go have some fun! Whoo!" Flash hollered, perhaps a little too loud. He threw his hat up in the air out of excitement. Then he caught it and put it back on, trying to act all cool. "Come on, Firefly, let's get going." He said. Firefly chuckled again. Then Flash started to fly off towards the shops.

"I'm right behind you, Flash." She smiled as she followed him.

"Focus Alex. You need to find the kingdom to speak to Spyro and Cynder about the letter" Alex thought. She didn't know what they would want with an outsider like herself but she knew it could be urgent. A young dragon stopped her. "Excuse me? Could you help me? I need to find a shop that my mother told me to be at. Can you help me find it?" The young dragon asked. "Alright but quickly. I have to do a task" Alex said as she took the young dragon's hand and started to lead her to the shop.

OOC: Yes miniquiny, just fill out a character sheet!

After Alex finished that task she made her way towards the castle again. "I hope Spyro and Cynder aren't mistaken about me. If they are, I'll just go back to the outside lands and be alone." She thought as she made her way through the busy streets.

The sound of metal. It was always a grating sound to most other dragons and probably would be perceived as quite annoying to have to hear it up front all the time, but to Kokoro, this was his shelter. His protection. His...'home' so to speak. As of now, he just padded around the palace pacing and waiting for Cynder's 'guests' to arrive. This quest to defeat some evil creature. It just didn't sit well with him. And he certainly didn't want to go on a quest. All the books about young dragons going on quests, particularly the one shared by the monarchs of Warfang (which he has read extensively), always seemed to have too many battles and too many close shaves for him. Oh well... He padded outside, squinting at the sunlight. He disliked sunlight. Even in his armor, in light he felt....exposed. But, this wasn't time to be comfortable he supposed. Kokoro looked up at one of the spires as he was walking inside the inner castle gardens. He crouched for a second, then leaped into the air thrusting his left forearm and lightly squeezing two of his claws, yet not folding them all away. Springs fired two curved metal projectiles that sailed overhead and hit the roof, latching onto it. Kokoro folded his wings and sped up there. Now on top of the roof, he quickly padded over to where it overlooked the gates into the palace, sat and waited.

"Okay, so what should we buy first, Firefly?" Flash asked as he flew back and forth between shops, gazing at everything in wonder. However, he didn't hear a response from his friend.

"Firefly? What are we buying? Firefly?" He asked again, but was still ignored. He looked around, not seeing her. "Now how could I loose a little red dragon that fast?" He wondered. He then spotted her in front of a shop that was selling books. Of course, she loved to read, after all. Flash quickly flew over to her.

"Hey, red, don't ditch me like that. I was over there talking to myself, and you just disappeared." He said to her. She glanced at him for a moment, and then look back at the selection of books.

"Oh, sorry, Flash. I got distracted." She muttered a bit, looking at each book cover for a moment.

"Yeah, I noticed. You know, you do that a lot. You notice something, wander off, and then just leave me hanging. You especially ignore me when books are involved. What are you looking for anyway?"

"I was hoping to find some new books on dragons, you know to maybe find out more about my ancestors, or my powers."

"Oh. Well? Anything?"

"No. Nothing on Empaths. I guess they're just too rare. Which begs the question on how the queen knows who I am." She said quietly as she walked away from the shop. Flash followed her.

"Eh, maybe you got the letter by accident." He shrugged. "It might've been meant for some powerful warrior, and she's gonna get stuck with us instead."

"Well, that makes me feel better." She muttered sarcastically. "I don't want to disappoint her."

"Then we won't. We'll find the palace, find out what she wants, and solve her little problem. No big deal."

"Yeah, sure, no big deal. Okay, well then, where's the palace?"

"I thought you knew."

"Me?! I've never been in the city before. I don't know where anything is. Don't you have any ideas?"

"Do I look like I've been to the palace before?"

"I guess we'll just have to find it....." Firefly muttered, pausing to look around a moment.

"Why don't we start by checking every big building? It's gotta be the biggest, fanciest place. We'll find it eventually."

"Well, you're a big help, Flash....." She muttered sarcastically.

Alex pulled her hood on once again and walked past a dragon and it's small companion that were in front of a book store. She's been looking for the palace and had one more place to go. She headed in the direction of where some castle guards were guarding. "Maybe that's it" She thought.

OOC: Accepted!

The guards noticed Alex approach.

"Good day, traveler!" said the first guard, and older looking ice dragon. "How can we help you?"

Cynder walked slowly through the Main Hall, passing the many guest bedrooms in silence. She smiled a bit, happy that she and Spyro had decided to fill the Palace with so many extra rooms. Her entire future bloodline could live here, and they'd still have plenty of room for guests. Not to mention the Guardians and their successors could even live there without taking up much space.

Soon enough, Cynder came to where to Main Hall opened up to be the Throne Room, which also happened to be the entrance into the palace. At the back wall, a large pedestal held four thrones. The two in the middle were large, and towered above any dragon who entered the room. The one to the right of the main thrones was a slightly smaller one, and to the most left was a much smaller one.

Cynder sighed, her smile fading. Of the four thrones, two had been completely empty for many years. The two on the left had been the thrones made for her son and husband, both of which were long gone now. All that remained of Cynders family was her daughter, and she was usually busy with her own children. Remarkably, the heiress and her mate had had twelve children in total, which was sometimes more than anyone could handle.

Cornelius smiled at Aethra. "Here, gimme your cloak and I can carry it."

Aethra frowned. "Don't be silly! I can carry my own cloak, thank you."

Cornelius sighed. "Ria, don't be so stubborn."

Aethra scrunched up her snout and stuck her tongue out at Cornelius, before swiftly taking off her cloak and throwing at his face. She then proceeded to giggle and run away.

"Hey!" Cornelius laughed, taking chase.

"I'm here about the letter." Alex said while handing the guard the letter. She revealed her face and waited for a reply. "Maybe this is the wrong place." She thought as she looked up at the guard.

ooc: Could I possibly make another character as a mini companion for Alex. (She'll just be accompanying Alex)

"Hey, look over there!" Flash exclaimed, pointing in the direction of a dark colored dragon talking to some guards. "Maybe that's where we're supposed to go."

"Maybe..." Firefly muttered, looking over there. "Or it could be something else. Maybe we shouldn't go over there...."

"Oh, don't be such a worry-wort, Firefly! If it's not the right place, then we can at least ask for directions."

"I guess so. Maybe they'll help us."

"Alright! Then let's go over and--" Flash started to hurry over there, when Firefly blocked his path with her tail.

"Hold on a second. Maybe we should wait our turn, you know so we don't interupt." She said, quietly. Flash sighed.

"You know, Firefly, you're too polite sometimes." He muttered. "Okay, we'll do what you want and wait."

Kokoro stared at the main gate. He saw two dragons that were approaching. One of the dragons, a dark purple colored one was handing a guard a letter. Kokoro blinked and looked at the other. Another was a reddish-orange dragon kind of waiting by the side. Kokoro assumed she had a letter also. He sighed, thinking...and kinda hoping...that they would arrive later. Meeting new dragons...always seemed kind of nerve wracking to him. But, duty is duty. Kokoro spread his wings and descended. At least he could land from high distances safely and just glide along the air. He glided down toward the main gate, reaching it in a few minutes. Kokoro then silently gestured to Firefly to step closer to the gate and then pointed at the letter the purple dragon was holding.

OOC: Go ahead!

The two guards glanced over the letter, the ice one smiling and the young shadow one blinking expressionlessly.

"Ah yes, you need to get to the palace!" the ice dragon boomed happily, handing back the letter. He pointed in the direction of the palace. "Follow that street there until you come to a large wall, then explain to the guards at the main gate that you've been summoned by Queen Cynder! They'll show you the way in."

The shadow guard nodded. "And be sure to go straight into the palace," he said softly. "Some dragons get distracted with the gardens, but you mustn't keep Her Highness waiting."

Cynder slowly crossed the throne room and sat in her throne, sensing that she would have visitors soon.

Aethra and Cornelius had reached the main gate long before the newcomers could. The laughing pair dashed past Kokoro and the two gate guards, panting from their running.

"Hey, Koro!" Aethra called as she whizzed past the armoured dragon. She didn't know Kokoro on the level of a friend, but she'd seen him many times around the castle and had one or two conversations with him.

Cornelius had only seen Kokoro a claw-full of times, so he simply smiled his greetings as he raced after Aethra.

The gate guards sighed. They hadn't bothered to stop Aethra, because the castle guards had been dealing with the dragoness' antics since she was a hatchling.

OOC: Just so everyone knows, the guards at the gate are different guards than the ones that are talking to Alex.

"Thanks" Alex said as she took off at a running speed down the road. "This is it. It's my chance to find out what's going on!" Alex thought as she ran. She slowed down to a walk when she got near the castle gates.

The two gate guards looked over to see Alex approach.

"State your business, miss." one of the guards said. Unlike the guards in the city, the castle guards wore shimmering gold armour.

Cynder was tore out of her thoughts when she heard laughing echo into the throne room. She looked up and watched the top of the staircase that led into the palace. To her delight, Aethra and Cornelius came bounding over the top step, then they both collapsed at the foot of the pedestal.

Cynder smiled. "Goodness, you two know how to make an entrance!"

Aethra sprung to her feet and spread her wings proudly. "Well of course we do!"

Cornelius rose slower and bowed to Cynder. "Hullo, my Queen."

"No need to bow Cornelius, I am no higher than you." Cynder said with a smile.

Cornelius looked up, some remnants of a nervous grin on his face. "Of course, Cynder."

Cynders face shifted. "Are you any closer to finding your father?" she asked.

Cornelius looked away. "Sadly, no. Mother won't tell me anything because she worries she'll get in trouble from the leaders of our tribe. The forbid her from telling me who he is. All I've figured out is that he lived here in the city, but he could be long gone by now."

Cynder's eyes narrowed slightly as she looked at Cornelius' face. There was something about him that always seemed hauntingly familiar...

"I'm here for business at the palace" Alex stated as she handed the guard the letter. "Me too. I'm her traveling companion" A little blue dragon said as she handed the other one her letter. "Ahh Kora, you know how to make an entrance" Alex said. "Yup" Kora replied. The waited on the castle guards.

Species: Shadow (Draconic)
Appearance: Pirra Usually about 6'5" tall.
Personality: Almost perpetually dark, pessimistic and cynical. The 'complainer'. Highly intelligent, despite her general attitude, and has a habit of holding facts in if she knows someone needs it. Has a dry, dark sense of humour. Somewhat antagonistic. Can occasionally open up and be quite happy and pleasant to be around, if one doesn't mind the disturbing things she may say.
Powers/Abilities: Uses shadow elemental magic. Has limited morphing ability, growing something at the cost of shrinking something else (Such as larger wings at the cost of losing her legs. Her head can't change, though). The only exception is at night, where she can draw a bit more from the shadows, and even more so during the new moon.
Other: While she is resistant against physical attacks, she is incredibly weak against elemental attacks centred around light and some fiery ones. Hates sunlight, and usually avoids it if she can.

Age: Unknown, acts like he's 30-40
Species: Firebird/Phoenix (Albino)
Appearance: A small white bird with pink-red eyes, and a black beak and legs. Crest resembles that of a secretarybird's. Short, straight tail feathers.
Personality: Mostly kind and rather helpful, despite being prideful and stubborn in his opinions, with a great love for books. Secretly hates it if his kindness goes unappreciated. Intelligent. Doesn't have much of a sense of humour.
Powers/Abilities: Flight and voice capabilities.
Other: Pirra's companion, which can be seen as odd since they're often at each other's throats. Epsilon enjoys proving that he's apparently smarter than everyone else.

"I think that dragon wants us to go say hi and hand him the letter." Flash said, pointing to Kokoro. Firefly noticed him and was a little intimidated by all the armor he wore.

"I guess he works at the palace. I hope we're not in trouble." She whispered.

"We can't be. We were asked to come. So let's go introduce ourselves." Flash said, confidently. Then he just flew over to Kokoro. Firefly followed him. "Hey, chromedome, what's up?" He waved slightly. Firefly face-pawed at his lack of manners.

"Uh, ignore my friend. He doesn't exactly have any manners." Firefly muttered. "I'm Firefly and this is Flash."

"Yo." Flash grinned. Firefly sighed and shook her head gently. Then she got the letter out of a brown satchel she was wearing.

"We're here because of this." She said, handing him the letter.

"Yeah, the queen herself asked us to come 'cause we're special. So just direct us to the palace and we'll be on our way." Flash stated, rather proudly. Firefly gave him a look and shushed him.

Shadow took her received letter and pressed it carefully in a thick book to prevent crumpling it, and placed it in her satchel (along with scrolls on healing magic, a book she was reading for pleasure, various berries and dried meat, and moneys for shopping)

Kokoro nodded, a bit more frightened of them then they were of he. When Aethra ran past he sighed. Yes, he'd seen and talked with her on a few occasions and knew it was probably best to avoid getting too involved with her. She was quite too......energetic for him. "Follow me." He told them, letting them pass through the gate and then walked with them through the garden.

Firefly and Flash both nodded and followed Kokoro through the garden. They both looked around as they walked, wide eyed at everything.

"Whoo! Hey, Fire, check out this fancy place! Queens sure know how to live in style!" Flash exclaimed, flying around to get a good look at everything.

"I know, but, Flash, we should try to be respectful. We're going to be in the presence of royalty. We should mind our manners." Firefly spoke quietly. The little dragonfly quickly flew over to her.

"Hey, I'm not being rude here. Besides, how often are we going to get to see a place this nice? We should make the most of it. I wonder if we get a room here while we're helping out."

"That would be nice, but we really shouldn't intrude. I'm still feeling a little overwhelmed about just being here. I can't imagine a queen would want meer common folk residing in her palace."

"Hey, a guy can dream, can't he?" Flash shrugged with a grin.

The guard nodded in understanding to Alex. "Ah yes, those two are also on their way in." he said, pointing to Firefly and Flash as they followed Kokoro just past the gate. "If you follow
them, they should be going straight to the throne room, where Her Highness is waiting."

Cynder looked up, her Fear abilities allowing her to hear vibration of voices coming toward the palace. "It seems that the first few I've summoned are in the garden. They should be here in a few minutes."

Aethra rolled her eyes and sighed.

"Aethra," Cynder said in a warning tone. "You had better not be impolite to our guests. They're going to be helping you."

"I don't need help, Cynder!" Aethra huffed. "It's my duty to find this threat..." she mockingly made air quotes when she said threat. "And destroy it! Besides, it's the least I owe those rats-of-wyverns after what they did to me!"

"This mission is not about revenge, it's about the betterment of our people." Cynder replied. "Now, please come and stand up here, and remember what I told you to do when they come in. They've probably never seen you before, so they don't know anything about Goldenchildren. So please be on your best behavior."

Aethra opened her mouth to protest, but Cornelius shot her a pleading look. Aethra silently climbed the three steps up to the throne platform, and she and Cornelius sat back on the floor next to Cynder.

Alex and Kora nodded and walked inside the castle gates. They saw a beautiful garden. "Whoa! Alex look at this!" Kora said as she flew to a dark purple flower. "It looks nice Kora. We should be a little quieter" Alex replied with a smile. "Okay, lets just go see what the Queen wants with outcasts like us" Kora said. Alex nodded and they continued to walk.

Kokoro quickly led them through the garden, taking the shortest route possible, up the stairs, and into the Queen's chamber where Aethra was waiting with Cynder. Koro said nothing but stood next to Cynder, quite dwarfed by the queen, and waited.

Firefly and Flash followed Kokoro into the palace. Upon entering the queen's chamber, they stopped to marvel at the decor, and also the royal dragons that stood before them. Firefly seemed frozen for a moment, just awestruck at everything. She had never been in a place this nice, in the presence of such noble dragons. It was a rather overwhelming experience for her.

Flash, however, didn't seem to be frozen, and was simply waiting for Firefly to approach the throne to address the queen. When that didn't happen, he poked her to get her attention.

"Come on." He whispered to her. Then he flew up ahead. Firefly took a deep breath and followed him. As she approached the throne, she looked up at Cynder. She paused for a moment, just unsure of what to do at first.

"Y--your Highness." She muttered nervously. Firefly then bowed, hoping she hadn't just made a terrible first impression. Flash stayed quiet in an attempt to not be rude. He removed his hat and also bowed.

Alex and Kora walked into the throne room to see many dragons. "Hey maybe those dragons in front of the queen are here for the same reason we are" Kora whispered. "Maybe Kora but we need to pay our respects to the queen" Alex whispered back as she and Kora began walking to the throne.

Shadow walked out and started tp Warfang. She was quite close to it, only a few minutes travel. After ariving there, she headed in the general direction of the palace.

Cynder smiled at Kokoro, then turned to Firefly and Flash. "Ah, you must be Firefly. Please, you needn't bow to me. Queen is just a title, nothing more."

The grey-black dragoness tapped her tail blade three times against the edge of the throne, making a slight ringing sound. Moments later, a young red dragon, about ten or so, trotted into the room with a large, red cushion flopped over his back. He carefully set the cushion on the floor next to Firefly, and grinned up at her.

"Please, take a seat. You must be tired from your journey here." Cynder said sincerely. She then noticed Alex and Kora enter. "Ah, more guests! Dusty, could you please get another cushion for our friends?"

"Okay, Grandma!" the little dragon, Dusty replied. He happily trotted out of the room.

Firefly nodded a bit, still feeling a little nervous and overwhelmed by all this. She took a seat on the cushion, looking down for a moment as she felt how soft and comfortable it was. it was quite possibly the nicest thing she has ever sat on.

"Well, uh, yes, thank you..." Firefly muttered. Flash put his hat back on and grinned.

"Nice place ya got here. Certainly fancier than any old forest." The little dragonfly said, making small talk.

"Thank you! We tried to make it as welcoming as possible." Cynder said, happily accepting the compliment. "Though, I myself quite like the forest too, and we've recreated a small bit of the valley west of here in the back section of the palace garden."

Dusty came trotting back in at that moment, a slightly larger, royal blue cushion. He smiled at Alex and Kora, then set the cushion down a few feet from Fireflys.

"Thank you, Dusty. Could you let your mother know that our guests are here?" Cynder asked of her grandson. The whelp nodded and scampered out of the room.

Cynder turned to the newcomers once more. "Just so everyone knows, there is one more guest I'm expecting today, and then I'll tell you why I've called you all in."

Aethra shifted slightly, gazing intently at the floor and not making eye contact. Cornelius noticed her discomfort, but didn't react. He simply held a polite smile on his face.

Kokoro nodded to Cynder and then retreated to the corner closest to where they were all standing. He waited there silently, like a statue.
