An odd thing I noticed... [CLOSED]

Did anyone else notice all the rescued dragons were male? It was kinda weird, There has to be some girl dragons, otherwise they'ed go extinct.

I think female dragons started appearing in YotD,and those were only baby ones.I guess Insomniac covered that by making the fairies bring the eggs to the dragon realms.:/

If females die after reproducing (unlikely but possible) It would explain the absence of females and the eggs in YotD.

My theory is that the males mainly stay outside of the dragon kingdom to protect the females while the girls stay in the castle or in an area beind the castle where it is safer and go on with other pastimes. The faries bring eggs when the dragon population is running low? smilie

No, according to YotD, it's once every twelve years - the Year of the Dragon. That's how the storyline of YotD came (and, as maybe not pointed out before, the game was made in the Chinese Year of the Dragon). The fairies are said to bring the eggs in that. I'm thinking that possibly genders didn't occur to dragons (all the same and with deep voices), or the females live elsewhere and they lay ready-fertilised eggs, which the fairies then deliver the male ones to the males. Maybe they could make a game about the two genders meeting, like Spyro: Dragon Reunion or something alike.

there are females in most of the other spyro games...like AHT,ANB,TEN, and DOTD i guess they ddin't care...smilie

There were girl dragons in the Insomniac games, but only as babies in YotD. All the dragons in the first game were male. And YotD implies that dragon eggs are not the result of dragons (or anything) breeding at all. The manual says that fairies deliver the eggs.

All of this suggests to me that the dragons start out with genders and mature into bipedal neuters. Eggs are created when one (but usually two or more) dragons have a strong, loving bond and would be suitable parents. When the Year of the Dragon arrives, they get an egg or two. (This also made a convenient explanation for how Spyro and Elora got kids. smilie)

Ember and Cynder are not part of the Insomniac Spyro world. In Ember's world, it's implied that there are girls and baby dragons are acquired in the usual manner. There's also Nanny, so Ember's not the only girl. In LoS, Cynder is the only female dragon, period, so I hope they have a backup plan or those dragons are in real trouble (especially now that she's sort of dead smilie).
