On the Play Store, I found a weird new app that lets you take a picture of a special (unreleased) Frito Lay bag (and display), and it brings up a 3D Giant to take a picture with!

Hot Head, Tree Rex, and Crusher are the featured Giants.

I haven't seen anything on these yet.
Maybe a new upcoming promo?

Yeah, here it is. If you have an Android phone you can download it from your desktop if you have your accounts synced.



That third one is interesting though. A "new" Swap Force trailer? It'd probably just be the one from E3, right?

This sounds like the Avengers app that Walmart put out when The Avengers movie came out. You could go to the store and find a display in the electronics section that showed a life-size version of the character on your phone when you pointed the camera at it with the app. You could then take a picture of someone standing next to that Avenger. Sounds like the same concept. I might have to look for it for my son, as long as I can save the pictures and delete the app later. I still have the Avengers app, but only because they actually included a VR game with it.

I downloaded the app to guinea pig test it. It displays the first screen (the first image), then goes to the second screen (the second image) and from there you can take a picture. Without the AR code, you can't really do anything or access the video/third image.

From what it seems, you have to track down Hot Head, Tree Rex and Crusher displays either in store or on the bags or whatever to unlock the video.

Oh sweet. I took pictures of all 3, but it doesn't seem to be saving them anywhere that I can access (it says "Saved successfully to your album" but there's no album of any to view, and it's not in my droid's native download, camera or sd card folders)

The models look pretty awesome...they certainly aren't models from Universe, and they don't really look like the models used in the console/3DS games either. Trying to see if I can save them somewhere else though.

Ah ha! Found that you can send them to yourself in an email.



After that it takes you to the third image screen. The video refuses to load in chrome so..I dunno about that, but then the other thing "You can also have a Skylanders 3D Experience at home" says that you can point the camera at specially marked Frito-Lay Classic Mix Bags and scan the image of the Skylanders" (the image is of the classic bag with the Sidekicks...)

Then it says look for Spyro to appear in 3D and save/share it. Gonna keep working on the video

EDIT: lawl. As if it wasn't obvious from the beginning, the video is the exact same E3 video.. Looks to me like it might be in a slightly higher def/a bit more well lit than the E3 vid in some parts but it's exactly the same. I'll snap pics of the other giants for fun hah

Can somebody post working pics of the codes so those of us not in the USA can try it out?

I looked for the app in the itunes store in my ipad but couldn't find it. Is it not available in Australia? (that would be typical!)

You can try the codes posted by posreject but obviously you need the app to actually scan them

No. I wasn't really expecting it to, but it was fun to hunt down. To me, it looks like it's slightly brighter/higher def than the one that Skylanders actually posted but maybe it's just me. I posted the link to it in my last post; it's just a hidden video on Frito-Lay's youtube page.
