I originally posted this in the "I just bought" section but thought maybe it wasn't the best thread to post in with the questions I had about the figures so I will re-post it here in hopes someone has information regarding this. I Just picked up the IOS Battlegrounds Starter Pack today at Gamestop. I got it mostly for the Royal Double Trouble figure and the Platinum Treasure Chest. There are so many things that are weird about the figures. Why is a pose from S1 considered a S2 figure just because of a paint swap? Is there any other instance in the games where this is has happened? Also, the Platinum Treasure Chest is listed under the Magic Element? And the trading card still has the Pirate Seas Adventure logo on the top right? From what I have read the game itself isn't that great and again I mainly picked up the set for other exclusive figures to the set but it seems like Activision just through this thing together. Don't get me wrong, I love Royal and Platinum in my collection but the whole set up seems weird. Any thoughts?

Like you, I had to get this sent over from America for these two figures. There are other shops selling the starter with the same pose double trouble in his normal colours with an orange base. I don't understand why but who knows what they were thinking. Maybe he just looked better as royal in his S1 pose?

I ordered the Battlegrounds starter pack from Amazon, was expecting "Royal" double trouble and got what appeared to be a normal S1 with Orange base.
I was very disappointed!

It seems there are starter packs with this figure instead of the Royal one...

The game itself COULD be good, but there just isn't enough to the actual fighting mechanic to keep you interested after about 5 fights.
Also, even when you "BUY" the starter pack the game is the same "freemium" model that constantly tries to get you to buy upgrades and figures in game. Very frustrating.

So buying this got me a poor game I don't play, a Spare portal I don't use, a double of JetVac, a strange Double trouble one ONE figure I wanted, Cynder S2.

Not my best investment.

I actually prefer Double Trouble's Series 1 pose so I'm not upset about that. But it does annoy me a lot that he doesn't match his S2 pose even though he counts as S2.

Platinum Treasure Chest actually has the EXACT same coding as the regular treasure chest. My cousin tested this when she had the game- she told me that the regular chest she had unlocked the same content as Platinum. The Platinum Chest is not recoloured and does not even register as "Special" in the console game.

The whole pack was just a cheap cash in. I agree with what Pyrofer said. To add insult to injury, the portal is only really useful for the Battlegrounds game- pretty much pointless on Lost Islands and Cloud Patrol.

(just to clarify: I do not own anything from this pack, my cousin has both Royal and non, however)

The Royal Double Trouble is a GameStop exclusive to the set. Buying Battlegrounds any where will just get you a S1 pose with orange base. Again, I am not complaining since I think Royal looks awesome but nothing about the set makes any sense to me. I too noticed the treasure "issues" as well. I was hoping it would have counted as an additional figure in my collection in Giant but sadly not. Perhaps I am looking too deep into it but the Hidden Treasure and Platinum Treasure Chest do have different names even if their in-game functions are the same. Thanks for all you responses.

It's funny that people are complaining they weren't happy with the figures and not caring about the portal. I want to get the pack just for the portal. It is useful in Lost Islands if you have more than one person playing the game. My wife and I both have it on our phones, but since they blocked using web codes multiple times if you're signed onto Activate (which I like using for the social aspects and it backs up my game), we have to split the characters up. A portal would allow us both to use all the characters. Plus there are some figures that we lost the web codes for, so a portal would be nice to get them. If anyone wants to sell me one real cheap, I'll take it

I'd be nice just to be able to play the games, as I only have Android devices in my house.

Got to play Cloud Patrol via the wife's Kindle Fire, but ever since they started upgrading it for Giants, it's been so glitchy....

I don't recall anybody actually complaining about the figures. I bought the set just for those figures and especially at Gamestop for Royal DT. I was just looking to see if anybody knew why a S1 repaint came up as a S2 figure in the Giants game. I guess you could say there was a little disappointment in the Treasure Chest not counting as a separate item in the Giants collection but regardless I still wanted it for my collection. As far as the portal is concerned, I believe that is the only way to get a bluetooth connection. I was hoping that I was going to be able to use this for the PC version....but where did the game go on Activisions website? I should have done my homework on that, I didn't realize it wasn't available any more. I have played a few levels of Battlegrounds and it doesn't seem to be that bad but I haven't made a final decision on it yet either.

Sorry to hear, good thing the that i ordered from amazon last month ago was the real and not a regular , it cost me $40 just for the with card and sticker but its ok since its not available here in Canada, only U.S. I thought maybe the seller will sent me a regular but i guess not, it was a trusted seller after all.

I got it a while back for Royal Double Trouble and the chest (I don't mind it registers the same). I prefer the s1 pose, especially for Royal. But, as mentioned, the Bluetooth portal is really nice for registering new figures on the mobile games. Cloud Patrol is a fun little game, pretty good for playing a quick game while you are waiting somewhere, very good mobile type game. Lost Islands I really like, you can play it without buying anything in game, it just A LOT longer than if you spend money on it (don't try it if you are impatient and don't want to spend a lot of money).

Battlegrounds, on the other hand, isn't very good. It is by far the most complex of the mobile games, yet it gets really dull fast. I uninstalled it since it takes a lot of space shortly after I got it.

For those on the fence (in the US, at least), I'd say that going by the sales of the iOS starter, I'd wait. I suspect we'll see these hit rock bottom prices pretty soon - at least, the non-GameStop bundles.

I picked up the GameStop bundle when they had the last Sidekicks promo and picked up my Series 1.5 Double Trouble from eBay for ~$10. If the non-GS Bundles drop super cheap, I'll be picking one of them up just to have it.

What about SSA 3DS and regular SSA starters? Do you think the price will go down with those as well?

No more than the usual sales you see here and there. The 3DS starters are pretty good sellers (obviously not as much as the console game, since it covers three different systems).

Yea--I see them at $60 most of the time---would love a 1/2 price deal

Shelly, have you tried Walmart? The ones by me have the 3DS starters on clearance. SSA for 3DS for $20.

Well geez---THANK you everybody--I've looked at Walmart, target, best buy and TRU. Clearly I didn't look at right stores etc. thank you so much. I was about to buy one for $60. You saved me some $$. I really appreciate the help.

The thing I dont understand about Royal is why he has S1 stats instead of S2 stats.

But the portal is mighty handy, especially with lost islands.
3 ipads in the house between my wifes, sons, and mine.
It was nice scanning in the alts as they are updated to the game.

Hopefully well still be able to use it for ios once SF comes out.
I cant see why or how theyd use the swap mechanic in L.I.

Saw this and found a store with one left, never picked up the 3ds one as i got dark spyro used. $25 works for me.
