I saw that they were offering magic shrines for 50% off today only. I was debating on buying one, but wasn't sure if they were worth it. I tried a search on here to find any other discussions and came up short. What's the opinion on shrines?

I was wondering that myself. I postponed gem-heavy purchases such as shrines, fisheries and the like after reading a number of posters picked them up for free via the wishing well. The first good item I got at the wishing well was the grand prize alter ego skylander, and then my luck meter was wiped and unable to be refilled (till next month I assume). I'm planning on trying for some shrines at the wishing well next month.

Whenever I see a shrine for 50% off, I buy it, but only if I do not already own it. If you play every hour a day, you can get 24 stones a day/per shrine. I have over 500 stones. You can see why.

I don't have any shrines, so I was considering it. I only have 240 gems, so that would leave me with 90. Not sure what I would want to buy with my gems, anyway, unless there was a decently priced companion. I could buy more Skylanders, I guess, but I feel like I have more than enough to play the game, at least for now. So does the shrine give you wish stones every hour on the days of a matching element? Or is it random? I'm not sure I really need more wish stones since I seem to be able to save up enough, as it is, for the alter ego. But if I had extras, I guess I could keep trying for more cool stuff or save up enough for the Hall of Legends.

Edit: I went ahead and purchased one. I figured it would help me save up for the Hall of Legends, at the very least, even if it still takes a while.

I got shrines before anything else. I have three of each (maxed out) so, best case, I can get 3 wish stones each hour. I have quite a few stones which pretty much guarantees me the new skylander each month through wishes.

Also, instead of simply getting a 10% on the element f the day, 1 shrine will give you a 20% bonus, 2 shrines gives 30% and 3 shrines gives 40%. You can make a lot of money on those days if you send those Skylanders on adventures.
