Swap Force First Wave Question [CLOSED]

Hey all, I had a quick question in regards to the first wave of Swap Force characters being released. I wasn't into Skylanders for SSA or SG when they initially released so I don't know how exactly it works. Will a list of who will be available at launch be made as we get closer to the release date? I don't know if something similar to this was done for Giants or not and I'm extremely curious. If this thread is in the wrong location, I apologize in advance.

These forums will accurately determine who will be available at launch, but even that determination will take time and some process of elimination. Unfortunately, Activision doesn't dictate when and where characters become available. There are waves, and employees sometimes leak info too.

Yeah, Activision tends to not share *any* information regarding what figures are released when. The best we get is the occasional tease on the official Facebook page, but even that is sometimes off by months.

Boo. I'm trying to plan out where I will be going on the 13th and I'm petrified that I may accidentally miss someone, haha. Thank you both for your help.

The first wave of SG was pretty much guessed guess correctly, but there was never an official list released. The main confusion was since TRU has wave 2 within days of release, it confused people as to which was really wave 1 per se.

But pretty much anything shown at E3 will be available at launch sans Fryno since they only had a prototype.

Expect no definite answers to this until the cases start to arrive at retailers and are cut open by collectors. This being said there are a lot of good indicators of who and what will be out and when. Expect retailers to start posting the early release skylanders on their website as early as September or August.

There are a lot of informed and smart users on this site that provide accurate information but for as many people that predicted that Hothead would be in American stores on day one or two due to early wave 2 release their were as many claims EyeBrawl would be there too simply because he was awesome and wanted.

This being said expect about thirty-five figures in stores on day one this year and expect AU to get wave 1&2 simultaneously.

We do know already that the 3DS and the console versions will have different guys released completely. The Console versions will have Ninja Stealth Elf, Wash Bucker, and the bomb guy, his name escapes me right now. The 3DS will have Volcanic Eruptor, Rattle Shake (I think that is his name) and the other guy again is escaping me.

Usually the 3DS will have a figure that is exclusive to it. They had Dark Spyro for S:SA and Punch Pop Fizz for Giants.

I think I dropped almost 500 dollars on launch day last time.

A couple of hints for you on Day 1 if Target has an exclusive figure. Make sure you go and get it early on day one. They are not good about stocking more after the first release. I don't think I ever saw granite crusher anywhere after day 1 or 2. I never actually saw Jade Flashwing in store but was able to get her off the interwebs. If you have a Wal-Mart you can call them and see what they are doing for launch. My local one I was able to get all of the non-variants at and not have to run around.

Yes, I knew about the console exclusive characters. I actually pre-ordered the 3DS, with no intent on picking it up, for my little sister who wanted her own poster at TRU, came home and found out it was going to have Rattle Shake and Free Ranger as opposed to Wash Buckler and Blast Zone. Needless to say I was very pleased with my sisters pestering that day, haha.

Ugh, Target exclusives. I missed Granite Crusher and every day I kick myself a little harder for it. I did manage to go to get Jade Flashwing while she was in the store after harassing associates to check the back. Low and behold they came out with a box full of them after vehemently telling me there were none in stock. On release day. Nice try though, Target.

I'm wondering if Target will have an exclusive figure for it since they're doing the special with the pre-order card where you can unlock some sort of power up.

Anyone know if Ninja Stealth Elf is an actual variant or are they giving all of the "S3" reposes names like that? I am glad to see that she is going to be out at launch as she is my favorite.smilie

I also pre-ordered both. I don't have a 3DS but figured I could buy it and maybe ebay the game and portal. (Not scalping, just trying to gain some of my monies back. My wallet still yells at me every time I go hunting.)

Anyways, Good luck and have fun!

Well, they have already shown that Volcanic Eruptor is a variant. Series 3 Eruptor is called "Lava Barf Eruptor" or something like that. He is colored the same as the current Eruptor, yet has the same model of Volcanic Eruptor (lava coming out of his mouth), and they have shown him in his packaging. Volcanic Eruptor is charcoal colored, and will likely be exclusive to the 3DS Starter Pack.

No word yet on Ninja Stealth Elf, but given her colors she probably isn't a variant. I guess they feel they need a special variant in order to entice people to also get the portable version, I highly doubt the two Swappers in the Pack will be exclusive or variants, their colors match previous images/videos of them and there is no way they will make a standard version Swapper you cannot get unless you have a 3DS. Variants are fine, but making an entire character unavailable to those without a 3DS would be a bridge too far.

All new series figures seem to have a variant type name, as I mentioned above - as has been displayed by the packaged figures they have shown.

Yep, I agree.

It maybe like they did with Ignitor from S:SA and only make them available down the line with one of the last waves.

I don't think they will. I doubt we see a Punch Pop Fizz single, ever. Dark Spyro also wasn't available except in a few regions. I think they realize they can do something exclusive this way without locking out content by doing this. Of course collectors want variants, but kids that don't have a 3DS have no problem picking up a Pop Fizz that plays exactly the same.

Yeah, What I was referring to was that Ignitor was in the 3DS Starter pack for S:SA. He was released in single or triple for everyone else until one of the last waves.

Yeah I remember Ignitor being one of my final guys because we didn't have a 3DS.

RIP GhostRoaster. He's reanimated as TakeYourLemons but occasionally is resurrected from the beyond when needed.
