Eyyyyy, so I was trying to import some nasty-ass videos into Windows Movie Maker, but then the punk tells me "could not be imported. The required codec was not downloaded automatically because the Download codecs automatically check box is not selected in the Options dialog box."

So, you know, I go to the Options dialog box -- but there is no "Download codecs automatically" chex box. What the heckie do I do????

It's .avi, but all of the videos I imported earlier were .avi and worked perfectly fine.

Well first, does the video play in windows media player?

Well avi is a container, like any video file that consists of the video and the audio. The video part may be a format that WMM doesn't understand. Where did you get the file from? You could download the codec, but you want to make sure you download the proper codec, but in all honesty if that's the case, I'd just convert the video.

You sure the file isn't corrupted or something? It happens a lot of times. Try downloading file repair and fix it. I can't guarantee it to be 100% effective, though :/

I've quit on wmm because it's so ****ing glitchy and can't do some things that I want. :U

sony vegas seems too confusing ok

WMM always freezes on me and won't allow me to click on anything on my desktop unless I log out.
