So Skylanders has done a great job (for the most part) of working with my OCD tendencies. I'm sure we are all aware that in terms of actual, in game characters, there are 99 figures currently available. Now if you are like me and basically wrote off the 24 series one figures that didn't get reposed, then we can call it 75. So here are the good things.
40 Regular Skylanders (5 of each element)
8 Giant Skylanders (1 of each element)
8 Lightcore Skylanders (1 of each element)
8 Regular Legendary (1 of each element)
Total Above = 64 and 75-64=11
That means that they made 11 other In Game Variants, and of course 8 doesn't go into 11 so here is where they got my OCD kicking in. Since Spyro was the star of the first game and Dark Spyro was the only In game Color Variant, I will go ahead and forgive that and simply pretend he's not part of this. Since it appears they also wanted to have a Legendary Giant, and a Legendary Lightcore Figure, that takes care of the extra 2 figures and so they made 8 In Game Color Variants and that should mean 1 from each element. Right???.........Wrong!!!
Magic (Scarlet, Royal, Punch)
Earth (Granite, Jade)
Life (Gnarly)
Fire (Molten)
Air (Polar)
Water (None) (However they have two Legendaries)
Tech (None) (However they have two Legendaries)
Undead (None)
So basically, why? Is there some sort of setup for Swap Force where this will all be corrected, or have they just completely killed my brain's ability to let this go. I want there to be a pattern, symmetry, anything, but there is not. I like the Variants but the inconsistency of the elements strikes me as odd, given how consistent they were with everything else. If you don't deal with OCD tendencies then this will make no sense to you, but given how many of you I see talk about getting figures with the right peg, I know there are some of you out there who have to have thought of this as well.
For those of you who just don't get this, how about telling me which Undead Skylander you would have liked to have seen get an In Game Variant. I would have loved a Cynder Variant. I think something more "Undead" would have been nice, like Zombie Cynder or something.
Sorry for the rant everyone, got tired of reading the same stuff over and over thought this might be a nice change.

My OCD tendencies are much gentler, though I think that's because I've been dealing with them since before OCD was even a term (I remember as a kid feeling a need to use my limbs equally. If my left arm did a circle, my right arm had to too), LOL! So I don't feel the need, but I understand them. And yeah, it seems like Water, Tech and Undead were unfairly treated, Having Legendaries is okay, but it isn't a unique theme, it's shared. And that still doesn't help Undead...
I feel like I wouldn't want Cynder, but I might be slightly biased since I have 3 of her, 2 of S1 and the S2 GITD (while I have 2 versions of a couple and only 1 of the rest of the characters I have, so Cynder is who I have most). I love Hex, but she already got something in the form of a Lightcore. I know Ghost Roaster doesn't get much love, but I'm thinking him. Of course he couldn't get a variant in Giants, in which case I feel like Fright Rider has the most potential, being essentially two characters in one. Quote: czs716
The Legendaries, as a shared theme, were already accounted for separately. He's saying UNIQUELY themed colour variants. There's only one Gnarly, Scarlet, Jade... I don't have to write their full names as only one character each has these names, you know who each is.

This has somewhat annoyed me as well (do I have OCD? I honestly don't know, but I am a bit of a perfectionist). I do hope they remedy this in Swap Force. Until then, I try and choose to ignore it. Since I (unfortunately) don't own any variants, it's not too hard to ignore.
