Yes, it was revealed yesterday at E3 and on the official X and Y website. It's super effective against Dragon Types. Sylveon is a Fairy type and other Pokemon are being added with this type:
Gardevoir: Psychic/Fairy Marill: Water/Fairy Jigglypuff: Normal/Fairy I added information about it on the "The All-Purpose Pokemon Topic Nexus" if you want to learn more about it =). Anyway, thanks for making this topic because some people could have missed this new type reveal.

Your welcome. I think it's dumb that they made Fairy types super effective against dragon type but at the same time I kind of suspected that Fairy type would be super effective aganst dragon type.

I really do not like the idea of a new type. It's just adding more to remember and more complexity. Now I have to know that Gardevoir is fairy and Psychic type!?!

Dragonite used Draco Meteor!
It's not very effective... Jigglypuff used Fary Wind! It's super effective! Yeah, sounds totally backwards.

I dont get why so many people dont like it. Dragon types were overpowered as **** so a new weakness is good to balance it out. I dont know if its because if the pokemon in the type, or the type it's self. No one complains that an ice cream can beat a dragon type, but thu complain that a pokemon who needs this advantage can as well beat a dragon?

Dragon types have two types of weakness other dragon types and ice types. Sometimes they have other weakness depending on what they are a mix of.

I was wondering how fairies could beat dragons as well, then my friend told me that in some old stories fairies built dragon-slaying weapons. If those stories are what Fairy types are based on, that would explain their effectiveness against the Dragon type, I guess. It's also possible that the fairies are based off Norse mythology. Of course, this is just her theory and could be false, but I'm guessing Nintendo/GameFreak/whoever decided to have a new type had some logic behind making Fairy effective against Dragon other than just to give them a third weakness, otherwise they would have made a different type. That's just my opinion though.
I thought Fairy types sounded dumb at first, but I'm warming up to them, mainly because the Pokemon that are being classified and reclassified as Fairy type don't look bad. I've come to love Sylveon's design, and I like the Pokemon that they reclassified as fairy, though I don't see Marill as a fairy in any way, but okay. I don't care much for the flower thing that was recently announced, but it's okay. It's just going to take some getting used to. |
