I'm a wee bit confused because I've just been looking at my admin logs on my site and I noticed that my IP address has conpletely changed yet I'm always using the same computer. Why is that? Do you think the Wireless router I got a few months ago might have some something to do with? I'm just curious like.

Sometimes when your computer is off or at any time really your IP adress will change for some unknown reason, but that only happened to me when I had a DSL Internet connection. With my wireless connection, it will sometimes disconnect when the computer is off and still be disconnected when it's turned on (this only happens with the desktop that we have for my dad (since he said it was his computer when he said after his stroke some time ago that he wanted ME to have a good computer for middle and high school in case something happened to him, but two years later it turns into HIS computer T_T) that still runs on Windows XP), but since I got a new laptop that has Windows Vista Home Premium I never have to deal with in anymore.
:/ And I NEVER have this problem with my PS3 unless I disconnect it manually for whatever reason. That help? |

Shorter explanation: You have a dynamic IP address.
======================== Longer explanation: IP addresses like these can change every time if: 1. Your service provider spits it to your to your modem every time you go online. 2. Your service provider rotates IP addresses. 3. Or when they want to change it for the hell of it. ======================= IP addresses that *don't* change are called Static IP addresses. I have a static IP and I have been 99.244.31.XXX since the first day I got my cable internet. |

Oh, yeah. I remember I had to set my router to Dynamic so that'll be it. Thanks.
But what's the point in creating something that can change IP addresses in the first place? I mean, it's meant to be your computer's identity. That may be a pain in the neck if say you IP ban someone but they keep coming back because they have a dynamic IP address that changes every so often...

Well, it is on the ISP's end. Sometimes dynamic IP addresses are the only way for the company to work.
Well, you'll have to deal with that if his IP is dynamic and keeps coming. |

Mine changed on this site once, it came up with a message saying 'The I.P. adress you are using does not mach the I.P. adress in our detabase' (Something like that). Also I use computers at school to go on this site and it works but won't my I.P. adress be different?

1. Of course the IP at school and the IP at your house will be different!! 2. I don't recommend that you go online on school. Some people at school can capture your password and crash your account by posing crap under your name. |

Acatualy yeah, because the school uses a surver so if I go on one computer and log on someone could go on another computer on this site and log on as me. |
