Ignitus: When you set fire to something, you ignite it. Hence the reason Ignitus is called Ignitus. Also he has the word in his name.
Terrador: Land/earth/ground in french is terre, which explains why Terrador is called Terrador.
Cyril: The name Cyril means lordly, and isn't Cyril always boasting about how noble and pure blooded he is?
Volteer: Volteer has the word volt in it and that is a way to measure electricity.
And I have absolutely no idea why Spyro is called Spyro, or why Cynder is called Cynder.
Guess for Cynder: Maybe she was hatched by some cinders, and they thought the name cinder wasn't groovy enough, so they made it cynder instead.
Guess for Spyro: They had to name him Spyro anyway.
So if you think you know why they are named the way they are named, please post on this topic.

Spyro comes from the word 'pyro', which means fire.
This also sorta explains Cynder's name; Spyro's name is a 'twisted' fire-related word, so I guess the developers wanted Cynder's name to be similar. Hence, Cinder becomes Cynder.

Cynder comes from the word Cinders as in fire as she breaths fire, but that realy doesn't make sence now that Cynder doesn't breath shadow fire
A Spyro is a purple, red and yellow flame. For some reason there was a setting on an old version of Windows Media Player called Spyro and it was a purple, red and yellow flame |

Yep, like Spyro Fanatic said, in the manual of the first game it explains that in the dragon realms, "Spyro" means "the one who breathes fire". It's like a mesiah (probably spelt wrong) to them. Like Jesus. Also, in TLoS, the reason why he's called Spyro is because the dragonflies obviously felt like calling him that. Maybe to the dragonflies, "Spyro" means "the one who is big".

Haha, Cyril's like Draco Malfoy. "...always boasting about how noble and pure blooded he is."
I'm guessing Cynder's name did come from 'cinder'. No idea what cinders really have to do with her, except maybe the fact that the breathed fire in ANB. All I know about the word 'Spyro' is that there's a funny swirly thing on Windows Media Player called 'Spyro', like bionicle says.

Spyro: It's probably something with " pyro " ( fire ) and " spirit ( the purple color has something with spiritual things ). So, maybe his name was invented with those two words.

I thought exactly the same thing about Draco! Did you know that the name Draco means dragon? I got that from babynames, which is a website where you can look up names and find thier meanings. It's meant to be used for people who are going to have children, but *shrug. shrug* iIwas bored, so I looked up the meaning of a name and I found this on google.

I love Draco Malfoy. Draco is Latin for dragon, isn't it? And I think 'Malfoy' comes from 'mal' which means 'bad and 'foy' which means 'faith' or something. So he's 'Dragon BadFaith' But we should really get back on topic!

I've just had a revelation! The Chronicler is called the Chronicler because if you put something in chronological order, than it is in time order! And TC is like a guardian of time! (He preserves it by writing it down) Hope you found that interesting!
Thanx to whoever it was who wrote this (from a topic Night Owl started in the spyro film forum) for writing this, it gave me the idea! Quote:
It was the word Chronicles that did it.

Terrador has the word 'Terra' in it, which means Earth. Spyro is an amalgation of Pyro. Cynder is Cinder, except with a y instead of an i. The rest, you hit the nail on the head for.

Spyro: Spyro was named Spyro because it has the word "pyro" in it, which means to "play with fire", thus putting an "S" at the begging of "pyro", forming "Spyro"! good idea, heh?
