Skylanders Table Top Game idea? [CLOSED]

I've been thinking about this for a few days. Have you ever gotten bored one day, looked at your Skylanders Figures and decided to get creative with them? Like... create a table top game with them involving the figures, dice, a table, Maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaps, pencil, paper, a calculator, some D&D Knowledge, and anything else you might need. If the figures had their own Table-Top game, what would it be like. What would there stats be like and attacks. Like Eruptor can damage his opponents lobbing three relatively weak fireballs, and a die is rolled for each one, and if you get two or more sixes, you get a fourth fireball, and stuff like that.

I suppose the stat cards that the figs come with would be a good place to start.

Are you thinking dnd style, party vs npcs or heroclix style skirmish based combat?

Awesome idea!

Here's a version I've created:

Requirements:

2 6-sided dice
A tape measure
8 of your own Skylanders with their cards

Your side will consist of 8 Skylanders, one from each element (if players dont own one of each element, then both players may come to an agreement of how many Skylanders to use). Your side may NOT contain more than two Giant Skylanders (as indicated by the Giants symbol on the lower right corner on stat cards), this keeps things fair.

Setup: It is recommended that you play on a large surface (i.e dining table or coffee table). Players sit opposite each other. Roll a dice (D6) to see who goes first. The higher roller places their first Skylander on the table, then the second player places a Skylander and so on until all Skylanders have been placed. Your skylanders may NOT be placed within 30 inches of an opponent's Skylander. Set aside a space to place your cards so both players can clearly see them. All your cards need to be face up, facing you.

Using the cards, this is how you would utilise stats (remebering that stats are out of 150, as of Giants NOTE: Some stats for Attack and Defense need to be rounded to make them compatible in this game, in all fairness I have decided to round these values up rather than down. In the case with Luck used with Attack and Defense values, to make this game more balanced, I have decided to round these values down.):

Speed ÷ 10 = Movement: move in inches (i.e Spyro's Speed is 90 so he can move 9 inches, Drobots Speed is 45 so he can move 4.5 inches)

when your skylander is within 4 inches of your opponent's skylander, on your turn (after movement) you may attack.

Attack: roll 2 D6 (6 sided dice). Add 3 to your dice (to make a possible total of 15). Add your Attack (if attack is 60 then your value = 6, if attack is 65 then round up to = 7). Subtract opponents Defence (i.e if Defense = 50, then subtract 5, if defense =55, then round up to = 6). If the total is higher than your opponents Defense value, then your attack is successful. Rotate opponent's chracters card 90° (then 180°, then 270° respectivley). If a card rotates back to 360° then that Skylander is K.O (Knocked Out, removed from game). Each Skylander may only attack once per turn.

Example: you roll a 3 and a 6 (3+6=9) on your dice. Add 3 (9+3=12). Subtract opponents Defense value (12-5(opponents defense)=7)

So your total is Attack Value is 7, which is higher than opponents Defense of 6, so your attack is successful!

Luck: you may add your Luck value (i.e if Luck = 50, then add 5, if Luck = 55 (for the Purposes of Attack or Defense) then round down to = 50) to your Attack value OR add to your Defense OR your Movement, but not on consecutive turns. For example, if you added your Luck to your Attack on your turn, you may not add your Luck to your Defense on your opponent's turn. The same goes for Movement.

Element Power: When defending against a Skylander of the same Element, you may subtract 1 from each of your opponent's dice rolls (-1 for each D6 = -2)

Critical Hit: If your total Attack Value is more than double opponent's Defence then that Skylander is Criitically Hit. Rotate that Skylander 180° instead of the usual 90°.

A typical turn looks like this:

Player 1: MOVEMENT >> ATTACK then Player 2: MOVEMENT >> ATTACK

The winner is the first to eliminate all of their opponents Skylanders.

So this version comes down to dice rolls, the Luck value and how you choose to utilise it. I can assure no two games will be the same!

Rather than a tape measure, draw out a table top map to use like Heroclix. Some rules should also be set up for the magic items.

Magic Items

If players bring Magic Items to the game, during setup, set Items aside, shuffle the Magic Item Cards and place them face down (Skylanders logo facing upwards) within reach of both players. Both players can bring as many magic items as they like, but they may only own one of each item; so players can both bring a max total of 8 items making a complete set totalling of 16 Magic Items (x2 bought from each player).

At the start of each players turn, they may choose to use a Magic Item. Draw the top card of the Magic Item Deck and reveal to both players. You may take that Magic Item and use it on one of your Skylanders. Place the item next to your chosen Skylander. That item may only be used with the chosen Skylander and NOT any other Skylander unless specified in that Magic Items rules.

Item rules are as follows:

Winged Boots: you may add your Skylanders Luck to your Movement. You may use your Luck to add to your Attack or Defense again this turn.

Ghost Swords: if your Attack is successful this turn, it counts as a Critical Hit, regardless of Value.

Hidden Treasure: You may keep the Hidden Treasure on your Skylander until you choose to use it. At any time, you may discard Hidden Treasure to reveal the top two Magic Item cards from the Magic Item Deck and choose one to use on that Skylander. Return the other card an reshuffle the deck.

Sparx the Dragonfly: You may use a Value of 4 instead of rolling one of your dice when you Attack this turn.

Shield: Your Defense Value is increased by 4 this turn.

Anvil Rain: All your Skylanders are Attack +1 this turn, all opponent's Skylanders are Defence -1 this turn.

Healing Elixr: Rotate your Skylander's Stat Card backwards by 180° (in effect, healim him/her)

Time Twist Hourglass: Move all Skylanders (both yours and opponents) bacwards using their maximum movement.

At the end of your turn, return Magic Items and Magic Item Cards (except Hidden Treasure if it hasn't been used yet) and reshuffle the Deck and place it face down.

Rules for Location Pieces (Empire of Ice, Darklight Crypt, Dragons Peak, Pirate Seas) coming soon!...

Location Pieces

During Game Setup, shuffle all Location Cards together and place face down (Skylanders Logo facing upwards). The player who is chosen to go first may reveal the top Card of the Location Card Deck. Place the matching Location Piece on the table. While the Location Piece is in play, Skylanders of the listed (see below) element get +2 Attack and +2 Defense. The Location Piece remains in play for the entire game.

Darklight Crypt: Undead and Magic

Empire of Ice: Water and Life

Pirate Seas: Earth and Tech

Dragons Peak: Fire and Air

The game looks pretty neat. My only suggestion would be to swtich from a 2d6 to a percentile system, to take advantage of the granularity of the cards. If not, many of the charcters will feel "same-ish"

Alright, I'll try to do statistics for smilie.

Game Stats:
Health: 290 (max. 580)
Speed: 35 (max. 83)
Armor: 18 (max. 48)
Critical Hit: 30 (max. 80)
Elemental Power: 25 (max. 100)

Eruptor is designed to be a tank, although his damage capabilities may not seem all that high, his power comes from status effects and repeated damage. He has several moves.

1: Lob Shots. (Roll three dice. For every lob, he deals 12 damage, plus 2 if he rolls a 2, plus 4 if he rolls a three, plus 6 if he rolls a four, and so on. If two sixes or more are rolled, roll a fourth die for an extra shot. It can be fired from 3 squares away.)
2: Eruption. (Roll one die. This attack does 12 damage to all surrounding enemies, plus causes burn which will sap 12 more damage per turn for three turns. If a 6 is rolled, this attack effects an additional circle of squares. If a 1 is rolled, this attack will take one turn to charge up.
3: Magma Ball. (Eruptor summons a ball of Magma that rolls a straight or Diagonal path and stops when it hits something. It does 25 points of damage after stopping into a target, and can deal additional damage if the opponent is still in the square next turn. Disappears after 3 turns.)

I have one, but it's not even drafted yet, so I can't say that I've tested it. smilie

Basically there's a little bridge sheet of paper thing. There are several spots on the sheet of paper. You need a dice, and a friend(or enemy, or a shoe phone!). Shuffle your deck of Skylanders cards, and divide them. Each player gets the Skylanders whose cards they have. (If someone ends up with more/less, we get to that later...) Also, you should create a batch of "bonus cards" for special spots on the board which require you to pick one up.

Roll the dice every turn. Your Skylanders moves that many spots to the right. There are various traps, boosts, and the special spots in which you take a bonus card with an extra power you can use against your foe, or for yourself.

When a Skylander reaches the end of the board, send them to the Outlands. They can no longer be used. Whoever loses all of their Skylanders first loses the game. (... Or, if you have more Skylanders than your opponent, then you need to try and lose all of your Skylanders first instead!)

It's kind of simple, but that's the point. My parents aren't very good with complex stuff, so I wanted to create something we can all play. I've been toying around with ideas for a while, and we all liked this one.

Ok, going to be doing a huge revision of these rules. Just had a couple of playtests and some Skylanders (namley Eye Brawl: 15 Attack, 15 Defense) has a huge advantage over almost every other Skylander. I'll be tweaking the rules to make it more balanced for all Skylanders.

Here is my idea, although it makes the Skylanders a little identical, but here goes:

To play, you must have cards from Skylanders Figurines. It can have up to two players. Each player selects a Skylander from each element to start. You will need 5 dice to play this game.

All stats use dice for the rolling, and the number determines how many dice you roll. The number of dice and the numbers required for the number are shown:

5-30: 1 die, 35-60: 2 dice, 65- 90: 3 dice, 95-120: 4 dice, 125-150: 5 dice

The stats do the following:

Attack (fist): This stat determines how many dice you roll to attempt to eliminate a Skylander.
Defense (shield): This stat determines how many dice you roll to block an attack from another Skylander.
Speed (running figure): This stat determines who attacks first.
Luck (clover): This final stat determines how many dice you may reroll after a defense or attack roll. For example, if you have luck of 65, you may reroll two dice.

To battle, each player selects one Skylander from their “army” and sends it above the other cards. Then you do the dice rolls which were explained earlier. Whoever still has Skylanders left is the winner.
