So a couple days ago I take a coupon to gamestop, figuring I'd pick up battlegrounds. The cashier looks surprised and hesitant and looks up something on her computer and calls up the manager at another nearby gamestop. She then informs me that recently the surrounding area gamestops (at least these are I'm unsure how far out this streches) have gotten an email basically stating the coupons function and all, and how it is only allowed to be accepted 1 coupon per unit. This I'm ok with. They further go on to explain however battlegrounds is not able to have the coupon used. And we even try it for kicks and it doesn't work.
Now understand I'm not mad oh the coupon doesn't work. Far from it. Its more the way she explained it it seems like gamestop changed its rules in my surrounding area concerning the battleground unit and the coupon.
Once again, not mad, more wondering if this has happened to anyone else for this. I guess different branches have different rules or something? I just find it odd is all.

The coupon was never meant to be used for Battlegrounds as it states it's only for the Giants starter pack. What probably happened is that some clerk allowed it to be redeemed for Battlegrounds and when a manager realized that they wouldn't be able to redeem it they sent out the email to clarify when they should accept the coupon.

I was able to use the coupon on battlegrounds when they first came out. But the guy had to mess with it a little to get it to let him do it. So I'm pretty sure he just figured anyway around the system.

It works for any Giants starter pack. (3DS, Wii, Wii U, PS3, or 360). It does or not, or should not work on Battlegrounds or any of the Portal Owners packs.

The coupons were intended for use on Giants only Starter Packs.

The "Battlegrounds" starter pack is not a Giants Starter Pack.

If any store employee allowed a customer to use the coupon on "Battlegrounds", then it's only because that particular employee at that particular store location was crafty (and willing) enough to bypass the restrictions on the coupon.

I was able to get mine at Target (Battle Grounds). The label on the shelfs at Target says "Giants Battlegrounds. The title is also the same at Best Buy and Toys R Us but I got it at Target because it was $40 instead of $50 at the other places ($40 - $10 coupon = $30). The other stores were willing to use the coupon but I told them I was going to try another store. If you remember the other post, I was trying to use multiple on the same item but that fell through. This again was done during the first week of the coupons, so they may have changed the titles on the labels since then. I did not try GameStop since I already had Royal on Black Friday, but I needed the 4th edition of DT so thats why I got him at Target.

I'm curious ... if you buy the store version of Battlegrounds, are all four levels unlocked? I bought it for the iPad, and only the first two levels are playable. The final two have been locked for months.

STARTER PACK ONLY...even the coupon says this.
