all i know is a bunch of buddhist monks people are going oooooooohm (even though i thought it was only hindus that went oooohm) to a giant version of one of those thingys (i forgot what it was called) i remember using to make a night light in densign technology last year

No, I am also bothered by it. I didn't recognize that that was a resistor until I saw the Ohm, and remembered back to when I was taught that Ohms are the SI unit of resistance. <.<;
