What? If purple dragons are born once every ten generations (250 years), and Malefor's been alive for, what, over a millenium, then it only follows that there would have to have been other purple dragon's before Spyro.

As Aang said, the previous purple dragons were probably killed my the DM. We all definitely know the the DM is the first purple dragon. And from what he has tried to do previously with Spyro's egg, I'm guessing he succeded with the rest.

I think Malefor was the first one but then Spyro came. Before Spyro was born he killed all of the other Purple dragons and over powered the other dragons and was sent in to excile, (did ANY of you listen to the Chronicler?) Well, I have told you that Spyro ISN'T the fist second or third Purple dragon. He is probably something like the forth. This is also a reason that Ignitus is so secretive and lonly and he all ways looks likehe is remembering a sad memory to me. He must be sad because the 2nd 3rd Purple dragons are dead, and they must have meant something to him. And he knows Malefor will kill Spyro because he watched the brute power the DM has. But! He hasn't seen that Spyro has more power in the element than any other dragon and that Cynder has more power in her elements. He didn't see that because he was too busy worrying about Evil Cynder or Malefor. So Ignitus doen't see that Spyro and Cynder have enough power between them to defeat him(Malefor). Well that MY opinion, you don't have to agree with it. I just thought it because I listened to the Chronicler!

He's over a thousand years. He was the first, Spyro is something like the fifth purple dragon to exist.

well i think that since malefor can't exscape from the well of souls that means he can't kill any dragons. and the only reason that no one cared about the other purple dragons was because the phrofacy says that only one dragon born in the year of the dragon can open the portal ................. so since that is cynder and she didn't excite at that time then malefor could not exscape and then there is no use for the other purple dragons to help. And since spyro was born on the year of the dragon and born the same day as cynder he is the purple dragon the phroface was taking about

but anyway that is just what i think but if my oppinion is not right i will go with malefor killing all purple dragons.

Malefor was the first purple dragon, so far as the Chronicler knows. There have been enough between him and Spyro for the dragons to know they come once every 10 generations. Will there be more after Spyro? Possibly if the dragon race continues for another 10 generations, but we are unlikely to see.

Yes. Malefor was the very first one (or maybe the first purple dragon, who was trained to be able to contorl his raw power and didn't kill himself) but I think that made Malefor too proud and impulsive and cocky and so he went outta control (somehow reminds me of young Illidan Stormrage... oh, shut up myself! off topic) Well and so they casted him into exile and I think he build revenge and he made is own army of the power- hungry Apes ( still don't get it why apes) but somewhy the Mountain where he dwelled corrupted itself and imprisoned him... maybe killed him some way that only his soul was left (yet reminds me of HP) and seeked a way how to gain body again... And this could last really centuries. Maybe the guardians who trained Spyro are the same who trained Malefor (and failed), so they lived so long time, bud I don't think so (Although, who knows how long they live...the Chronicler IS really really old). What the Chronicler said that the spirits can escape from the mountain at the Night of Eternal Darkness but no one knows how often that is... I can guess that it happens to be every ten generations just like the birth of a purple dragon. But it surely happened before and Malefor didn't succeed. I guess there wasn't another Night of ED so there must be some other way DM used to escape the Mountain...wait... didn't his soul escaped whenthe Mountain collapsed? So much teories, duh.
I think that many purples tried to get rid of him and there's almost no hope left for Spyro. But he'll try as all of them did. The end

And hopefully succeed. (He won't for about 3 years knowing me in boss battles! )

And good explination. The chronicler said that he had had no visitors in his cave for over a thoushand years, (He must have nearly died of bordem! and of Reading the books over and over and over again! !) He must be at least 1 and a half mellinuims old! (If ya don't know what a mellinium is just wikipedia it! ^.^ !) The DM escaped the Mountain because when it collased the darkness and all the souls would be free, forever. to reak their havoc on the world. Spyro has to stop them, Malefor, the destroyer, and about another thoushand enimes!
