I have a friend wanting to buy Giants but he wants the GITD bundle, is it discontinued?

Not to my knowledge, I still see it at Walmart whenever I go there.

I have seem them around if you want GiTD Cynder and Punch Pop Fizz, just keep looking. The local wal mart is sold out. Target had a sale a few weeks ago on starter packs, 40$ so I went to wal mart with the ad and picked up the 3DS starter pack, for the same price with price match. Win for me! Also try looking in the wal marts that might be a little further then most people are willing to travel, I have to do that sometimes, 30 minute drive there and 30 minute drive back versus the local one which is 15 minutes away.

I've been wondering that myself - at least, whether or not it WILL be discontinued. Originally, Walmart had a ton of them, and none without gitd , but now the opposite seems to be true. They have have very few with the GiTD, and a lot of with regular . (At least here in Lancaster County, PA.) I know that with the original game, you can still find the 3ds with Dark Spyro, so I'm not worried about , but I am curious about GiTD as it's exclusive to Walmart and not to a certain game system.

carefull that portals usualy come with problems

It's been discontinued since Black Friday.

You still can find it, one Walmart near me has 20 of them.

^ They're not as common though, but mine is just stocked with regulars. Plus Sams Club's still have tons of the GITD Bundles.

I have heard so many things about the GITD portals being messed up.

I say this is all nonsense. I have used this portal for the Ps3 since launch with no issues. And still use it with the Wii U now.

As for the GITD portal having this issue vs. any other Giants portal is all fabricated aswell. The physical hardware inside the portal is all the same across the portals (yes, 3ds, and Bluetooth excluded). Even the top surface where you place the figure is the same. The difference is in the plastic case on the side. Purely a cosmetic difference. To say that a GITD portal does not work as well as a regular portal from Giants for the same system is like saying that a car is slower because it is blue.

This is a great site for information, But sometimes you get alot of speculation here. It comes in many forms, I heard this here, or this guy said that. Sometimes people take what they hear and repeat it as if they know it is true for one reason or another. I'm sorry but get used to it as it is the nature of the beast so to speak.

That being said you will notice that some people say things with no evidence, or proof of their claim. Feel free to listen to all and make the decision for yourself. I am not saying I am right by any means, or that others are wrong. I am simply claiming what I think based on my experiences and with what makes sense that has been presented to me.

If others can come forward with proof of why this portal is worse (other than it is slow or has issues with xxx), and can back up their claim with evidence, I would love to hear it.

The GITD Starter Pack has already been out of stock online for a very long time now but in the stores of Walmart and Sam's Club they can still be found in their stores

I lucked out... I was checking Walmart for Molten Hot Dog, while aiming to get the 3DS Starter Pack at the same time to get Punch Pop Fizz (even though I don't own a 3DS), and their 3DS starter packs were about half-half between GITD Cynder and regular Cynder... I wasn't even aware that Walmart had this as an exclusive until I saw it on the package, LOL! Got it about 2 weeks ago or so.

Doesn't seem discontinued to me.

And I've been using the 3DS portal to extend my portal and haven't noticed any issues, though of course any issues with saving would be more down to communications issues and connection issues with the 3DS. As siowm6 pointed out, the portals themselves are the same, technically speaking.
