Avatar problem [CLOSED]

I'm trying to upload a icon and it says its a bmp. I upload but then it says I cant use it even though bmps are allowed. Also if I try to change it from bmp it wont let me smilie
Help please?

Bmps are usually really really bulky in terms of size, and a small image can easily tip over the kb limit of 30, is probably why it was not accepting it.

oddly enough, I have a problem with some avatars. Even after using certain tools to resize them, and other sites accepting them as 100x100, it still doesn't here, and states their dimensions are over the limit.

It glitches only for .GIFs, so that might be the reason. All other (.png, .jpg, etc.) 'tars work fine.
