I remember reading it is possible to glitch Skylanders by using them both in the handheld and console versions, resulting in them losing their data. I'd like someone to elaborate on this, as I'm thinking of buying a 3DS and Spyro's Adventure for it.

My skylanders are fine on my Console and 3DS versions. I never knew about this glitch, so they should be fine

I've used mine on both without any real issue.

The biggest problem I had is when it didn't save that I had "synced" a figure and when I next put it on the DS version it added all the experience a second time (taking him up to 15!) which kind of robbed me of a bit of levelling up fun.

I don't think that is a big issue though.
The 3DS portal will work on the PC by the way in case you want to do that, AND you can "backup" your figures with special software so if they get corrupted you can re-write the backup to them.

Don't think I am allowed to talk more about that software though on here.
