Dumb question... do all of the stat upgrades follow the figure? [CLOSED]

Does every stat save in the figure itself?

That is, if I have s2 Stump Smash and play through Giants with him and complete EVERY heroic challenge, and level him up to 15 with all of his upgrades, etc... so his stats for speed and strength, etc are totally maxed out as far as how many increases are available to him in Giants.

THEN I take that s2 stump smash figure to a friend's house where they only have Giants also... will all of those same stats follow him, or are they only in the save game where he actually completed the challenges? And what if I then complete challenges with him there at my friend's house, will my s2 Stump Smash's stats go higher yet and when I take him back to my home and play him on my console with Giants with they be higher yet?

I'm sure there is an easy answer to my complicated question, but I am not able to find it. I was just wondering what keeps me from taking my figure from one console (or even one save game slot) to another and completing the same heroic challenge over and over to keep boosting his speed (for instance).

Each figure basically has a built in memory card. It knows when you have completed a specific heroic challenge. If you try to beat that challenge again (no matter whose game it is), the stats will NOT increase again past that pre set point.

So, yes and no. Yes, you can complete Heroic Challenges at a friend's house, and yes, the stats save on the figure, but no, you can't re-complete the same HCs. As Trex said, it also saves on the figure what challenges the character has done. In fact, I see this all the time. ANYBODY I have who can go into SSA, I bring there first, as I have more Heroic Challenges there, 29 compared to 18. When I then bring them into Giants, about half of the challenges I have available show as already complete, because I did them in SSA. Same thing for going from one Giants save to another. The characters can get the reward for completing any challenge ONCE. If you do it again, anywhere, fine, but you don't get the reward again.

Let me put it this way: Anyone who I can bring into SSA, when they've done EVERY challenge they have 40 heroics done. 29 + 18 does not equal 40, it's 47. That means I have 7 challenges that are available to me in both games, 7 that it remembers I've already done.

Cool. That's what I suspected, but I didn't have a way of testing and I was curious.

So, if a s1-only non-reposed figure like, say, Dino Rang completes a newlander's heroic challenge in Giants (let's say Dino Rang completes Chill's heroic challenge), does that stats boost follow him back into S:SA when he is played there, even though that Heroic Challenge didn't exist in S:SA and therefore won't show as completed for him in S:SA?

One thing to note, though. Collection-based Elemental Power bonuses for each character reflect who has "ownership" of that figure. So if you switch them to another collection for whatever reason, make sure you switch back to the save with the highest number of Skylanders afterwards if you want to make use of that bonus.

I didn't even think about collection bonuses. So the character will be "owned" by whichever of my game saves that it was first played in and therefore not count towards my total in another one? Does that mean that it would also be owned by Giants and so not contribute to collections in S:SA?

I've never attempted to change ownership of a figure, but maybe I should check that as I have a few that I bought used and I know my son likes to play them in different save games so that he can find treasure chests again, etc. They have only been used on our systems, but that includes Wii, 3DS and iPad and PC/Universe. Does changing ownership reset the figure or anything like that, or does it just change the ownership so it will count towards the collection in the game?

Ownership only adds to a collection, it doesn't subtract upgrades or take numbers out of previous collections. You can change ownership for each of your saves if you like. Vhraina and I have three saves with all toys registered, and all we did was switch ownership.

So once you switch ownership in one save and it credits that figure to your collection, it doesn't matter if you switch ownership to another save to do the same thing and never switch it back?

"switch ownership" is really the wrong term here. It's more like "add ownership"
You can take ownership of any figure in any game and that figure will remain owned by any previous games as well as any new ones you add it to

It's been my observation that the figure itself only keeps track of which HC's are done. What stat boosts that figure gets for completing them is determined by the game. For example, if you had an S1 that did all 32 HCs in the first game but none from the second; it would have lesser stats in the second game than in the first, because the rewards for completing them changed from the first game to the second.

So to directly answer your question; no, it wouldn't. Or at least, I don't think it would, since SSA wouldn't even look to see if any HCs beyond its 32 were done.

From what I've seen, SSA does indeed list a lower Heroics count. My understanding is that it only credits the ones it knows about, so Chill's won't count (though it'll still be completed when you get back to Giants). For the most part this means only HCs for Series 2 characters, but I know some HCs were juggled - like I completed Cynder's in SSA, and just yesterday I got a S2 GITD Cynder, adding her new challenge to Giants as not completed for anybody. I'm not sure if any newlanders got any S1 rejects. I heard Cynder's old one went to someone else. So there's a caveat.

And yeah, all this Ownership stuff is more like Add Ownership. My nephews have 9 SSA figures that I don't, and I took Ownership of them all into both SSA and SG to get Heroic Challenges where possible (slipped my mind that S1 doesn't add a HC to SG, and I've never really considered the Elemental/Collection bonus). I then took ownership back in their SSA to be thorough. But if I check my collection, it still says I own them. Once in, never out. Actually, I didn't add anybody to my Nightmare save, and was quite amused at having a completed save game with 0 Skylanders, but then I brought my nephews' spare Cynder in there to put the Knight Hellm on her. They've never used her, so the game took ownership automatically, and now I'm stuck with "Skylanders: 1". smilie

And no, Ownership does NOTHING to the figure. You keep all your upgrades, quests, nickname, hat, etc. etc. The only real differences is that the character is added to your collection and for elemental bonuses, and for Heroic Challenges, if it's a character that would add their challenge. Haven't noticed anything else.
