Am I to assume this rule also applies to crowd-funding sites like Kickstarter and Indiegogo?

I ask because these are things which tend to 'require' word of mouth (and thus get posted where relevant), but I'm unsure if posting links to crowd-funded projects is okay on this site.

Well... It depends I guess. In most cases, yes, you shouldn't advertise. But a Hunter might make a exception occasionaly. That is all I can say right now.

Not a hunter, but the main reason why dark52 doesn't want advertisements is to avoid losing traffic on his site (in addition to not wanting to deal with monetary exchanges like buying/selling which could involve legalities). So I guess the question you'd ask yourself is whether the site you're linking would detrimentally affect this site or not.
