I kind of got screwed on an ebay purchase of SSA. It was supposed to be for the game disk and the wireless portal, but the seller forgot to include the USB wireless dongle. I messaged asking for it and the seller said sorry and they would mail it. However, they mailed it in a plain paper envelope with just a cheap ziplock baggie and some shady person ripped the dongle out of the letter
No point asking for a refund since I would have to pay to mail back the game and portal. We have the giants wired portal, so I can still give my son the SSA game for his birthday.
But I am curious, is it worth paying extra for the convenience of the wireless portal? I can probably try to get a PC starter pack on the cheap, since I have seen them sell for as little as $15.

The wireless portal chews through batteries so it is no big loss.

I started with giants and only just got SSA, I play co-op with my son and its great for the extra space - no batteries or dongle required, just place it next to the wired and yo have a portal each.
Otherwise it's pretty useless. My one has less range than the wired (Wii U). |

For the items I've bid on I've asked about the dongle...
And as far as batteries...in my estimation they last 20 hours...rechargeable batteries solve this problem...and offer convenience over wired portals. Personally, both have a place in my house.

If you've purchased stock in Duracell or have some decent rechargeable batteries, yes.

The wired portal is also GITD so , I prefer the wired.

No use getting the PC starter pack as it has a wired portal.
You might still be able to get a replacement wireless receiver from Activision support.

As long as you have good working batteries. You need to change them like mad if you use anything with LightCore Tech any often, though. I still use mine because I hate moving the wired one... I move it lots... And I would use the GITD one because it looks awesome, but it's VERY glitchy. With the combo of replaying Pokémon Yellow I'm using up lots of AAs.

I/kid haven't used the wireless one since buying Giants. We had SSA for the Wii, and it really chewed through batteries primarily the portal. I eventually bought some rechargeable batteries, but the cheap chargers only charge in pairs so that caused a problem with the thing holding 3.
Eventually bought a good charger for that problem in preparation for Giants but found out the portal was wired, and we also bought it for PS3. |

I prefer the wireless portal. It can be placed near where my kids sit when playing and I don't have to worry about them tripping over the wire. The key is to get rechargeable batteries.
