I was playing the PC version of SSA today(fantastic port, by the way- I don't like the Wii or 360 versions, but I'm actually loving this one for some crazy reason). It works totally fine on my computer, there's no lag or anything. But as I do for Skylanders Universe I plugged in my glow in the dark 3DS Portal that I got from eBay instead of using the PC Portal.

After about half an hour the game kept saying "There is a problem with the toy on the Portal of Power", every time I put certain characters on- they would work and I could move them, for one second. I assumed this was just an issue with the game because I've read the reviews, and it seems to lag for most critics that reviewed it, so I just thought that I had to have some issue if it wasn't lagging for me. This got annoying so I tried my REGULAR 3DS Portal hoping it was just an issue with the GITD one. That didn't help this so then I tried the regular PC one, and that didn't help whatsoever. So I closed and opened the game and even reset my computer hoping it was an issue with that individual session. That didn't work either. I tried looking at the 3DS version of Giants to see wether this was a problem with my actual toys. To my worst fears, it was.

I've come to the conclusion that this was caused by the GITD 3DS Portal, because I played the PC version yesterday with the PC Portal and didn't have a problem, and played with just the regular 3DS Portal for a bit today, and those didn't give anyone else the problem.

Why are the GITD Portals so low quality? Now I need to reset those four Skylanders that got corrupted. S2 Stump Smash, Wham-Shell, Warnado and Dark Spyro. With the former two I'm not as upset and more just urinated off, because, of course, both editions should have been tested and have their respective problems fixed. But the latter two... Dark Spyro was my very first Skylander. Warnado was the Skylander I played most before I got Sprocket.

I'm going to go cry-rage-yellatpillow some more. I'll never use a GITD Portal again.

Did I forget to mention? Yeah, I forgot to mention. I tried using another Skylander- Series 2 Flameslinger- with the GITD 3DS Portal with Giants 3DS, to do one last test using it.

My 3DS GitD portal works as well as the 3DS portal can be expected. Wish they would have used a communication method aside from IR, but, aside from that, never had an issue?

Actually, does anyone have a console GITD Portal that doesn't have a Gold/Level storage issue? I've heard a few people who use it just not mention the issue, which makes me think that this may only affect some of them. It's still extremely frustrating.

Oh... Oh... Also, my Dark Spyro "came back to life". I used the normal 3DS Portal with Giants and didn't get the broken toy message, it was working again normally! I shed a tear. (More like cried a river... I lacked a dry face for ten whole minutes...)
My Warnado is still in limbo though- now I make a pledge to never use an Air Skylander again unless he lives once more someday.

If yours works fine, UB, maybe the issue with mine stems from connecting it to my PC. I hadn't used it at all before then.
