I plan on making a new save file on Nightmare mode and registering the 8 Giants only.

Ninjini has the highest Critical Hit out of the Giants, surprisingly.

I've completed multiple time trials with Tree Rex (spamming dash) Hot Head (using hot rod ability) and flying with Swarm. Also, all of my giants have fully upgraded speed via heroic challenges.

I've cleared my 8/16 time trials all with swarm on the barb path. He is a beast, fast and strong. You have to be flying at all times if you aren't in combat though, because his normal walking speed in kinda slow.

bouncer's a good choice he's the fastest giant in the game his speed is the same as ninjini so those two are good choices but bouncer has less armor, instead ninjini has less health, if you ask for my opinion you should just buy L-Bouncer because legendary skylanders are usually only available in one of the skylanders series

any ideas on how to get Thumpback through the You Break It You Buy It heroic challenge? Will his bite attack work?
First thing we do now after buying new Skylanders before upgrading anything, is take them through Purple Chompies and You Break It, after painfully having to reset a fully upped Cynder and Tree Rex because they could no longer do them.

Use anvil rain. This is the only way you can complete this challenge with characters who have large AOE attacks. (or the only way I have figured out how to do it) *Oh, and purple chompies is easy with any giant character. All you have to do is step on the green ones. Don't use any attacks.

don't have anvil rain, and I've heard mixed on this anyway - I think it only works on some platforms. I have managed You Break it with everyone else so far, even Crusher, Zook, Sonic Boom and Eruptor whose basic attacks are pretty um... unfocused. But Thumpy... well, that Anchor just takes out *everything* even brand new level 1 no upgrades no matter how careful I am.
Purple Chompies with a new giant is easy. Just step on them and avoid the purples. Purple Chompies with Tree Rex's Woodpecker pal is failed the moment 2 purple chompies show up on screen

I did you break it with Thumpy using his bellyflop (secondary attack). No upgrades. Had to do it twice to get it right but I got it done.
